Chapter 19

Until death due we part

I left the kitchen and I don’t even think my mom or father noticed, they were both now trying to get ready to go out; looking for my brother no doubt. I knew where he would be and I knew where Krad would be. He was going to be at the first place we met.

I needed to get my dad’s gun, and once I did that, I was going to go to him. Something told me he was waiting for me.

Just when I was about to walk up the stairs my mom stopped me.

“Minnie I’m taking Amanda with me, you can at least still go to your friend’s funeral. I’m sure they just stopped because of car trouble.” She said and I wasn’t too sure if she was trying to reassure me or herself.

“Alright.” I said and kept going up the steps. It would only be a minute before her, my father, as well as Amanda would be out the door, and I was going to leave as soon as they did.

My phone vibrated and I saw that Krad’s name had come up.

When had he put his number in my phone? I thought as I stared at the phone. I had never let him see my phone.

I shivered as I opened the phone. I knew I had to act as if nothing was wrong.

“Hello.” I said lightly.

“You sound different love.” He said and I knew he was smiling.

He sounded like he was right here, right by me. I just shook my head at the thought.

“How so?” I asked him as I heard the front door close.

I heard him laugh. “Dear I was thinking about everything we have been through and only two things stand in our way. Do you remember when I said that?”

“Yes.” My hand held my phone tightly as I walked into my step fathers room and got his gun that he hid in his closet on the top shelve.

“Well it seems you already know what one of those things is.” He said. “Now you are not planning on shooting me with that gun are you?”

My mouth went open wide. How did he know I had a gun in my hand? Before I knew it I felt arms go around me and my parent’s bed room left as the park appeared.

“What? How?’” I was shaking and the arms turned me around.

“Love, please don’t be mad at me.” Krad whispered. “I wanted to tell you, but you wouldn’t have let me do what I did.”

“Where is my brother, Krad?” I asked him.

“Alive. That’s the answer you really wanted right?” He laughed. “Yes he is alive for the time being.”

“What do you want Krad?” I yelled at him and pointed the gun right at him. “You know what, I don’t care! Just tell me where my brother is.”

He didn’t seem at all afraid of me with the gun pointed right at him. I knew I should be the one that was afraid after what he had just done, taking me from my home to this place in a blink of an eye.

“He’s right there on the swing.” He smiled

Turning quickly I saw him on the swing passed out.

What had Krad done to him?

I ran over to Allen, but Krad got there first making me stop in my tracks. My eyes watched him carefully not understanding what he was thinking right now.

The grass around us began to move because of the wind that now begun to blow around us. Even my hair got caught in the wind. I wasn’t too sure why but it felt colder to me. The wind felt ice cold against my body, and I wanted to move my arms around my body.

When my arms did go around my body, I still felt cold. I didn’t know why I felt so cold. My eyes soon went to the gun that I was holding tightly in my hands. I stared at it then I looked at Krad and saw that he was looking at my brother, eyes glowing red.

“Leave him alone Krad.” My voice was shaking, I knew, but I did not care.

I pointed the gun at him and he only laughed at me.

“I have to kill him for us.”

I shook my head at him not understanding, but I wasn’t going to try. He was able to manipulate me at times and I wasn’t going to let him do it right now.

“Touch him and I’ll shoot.” I said to him and he didn’t seem to believe me.

His hands went down and they were just about to touch Allen’s face when I fired. The loud sound came out with a bang and as soon as it did I let the gun go. Krad’s body hit the ground and I felt tears began to fill my eyes. I fell to the ground hitting the wet grass heavily, but I didn’t care one bit about it.

I put my head down breathing hard. I was so sad. I felt my heart racing. I had just killed the guy I loved. He was evil and I had to do it, but I loved him.

Why did I have to love him?

“I didn’t think you had it in you, but that was nice.” My head begun to lift up and my eyes went wide when I saw him. He had gotten up off of the ground and was looking at me with surprise in his eyes. “That was nice dear. I knew you had a killer in you.”

“How?” I murmured not understanding. My hands clenched as the thought of him still being alive ran thought my head. But what I hated was the fact that a small part of me was happy he was still here.

He just kept a smug smile on his face.

“I’m not human my love.”

I think I figured that out. I wanted to say but more logical words came out of my mouth.

“Krad what are you?” I asked as I stared into his beautiful eyes.

“I’ve been called many things.”

“Is demon one of them?” I asked and watched him laugh. It was one of those laughs that I loved but at this very moment wanted to hate.

“I have heard that one before, but it’s not what I like to call what I am.” He struggled. “I would say just like the others or what the guardians would call me. I am a spawn.”

Others. I thought trying to get up off the ground, but I kept shaking. There were more of what he was. He had also said something about a guardian, what in the world is a guardian?

When I was all the way up and my body wasn’t shaking as badly as before I asked. “What is a Spawn?” It was the only question I thought really mattered. I knew that there where other questions but I don’t think I’m ready for those answers.

“A spawn is what we evil ghosts call ourselves.” He laughed probably from my question. “You know like a spawn from hell.”

I closed my eyes and I knew I had to get out of here with my brother.

“You killed them right?”

“Well I don’t want to take all the credit.” A chuckle left his lips. “You helped me.”

My eyes opened. “I didn’t do anything you used me from the beginning!”

“No Minnie. I gave you everything you wanted. Everything you wished for I gave to you.” He said with a soft growl. He must have been trying to control his temper. “From Kate to fucking Jake, I did this all for us.”

“No. If you did this for us why did you kill them? If you really loved me you would have know that I would never have done this.”

“I did this for us.” He let out. I could tell he was really starting to get mad. “I had to kill them. It’s the only way for you to become a spawn.”

“What do you mean by that?” I questioned him my voice not sounding right.

He was trying to make me a spawn. No never!

“It’s the only way for us to be together.” He whispered almost as if he didn’t want to admit this. “If you stay a human, we could never truly be together. You would always be in danger and I being a spawn, well I’m sure you have noticed that humans can’t see me. You my dear wouldn’t be able to see me unless I wanted you to become a spawn or if-well, you get the point.”

“So why couldn’t you just show yourself to me and just not go through with what you did?” The question seemed dumb after I asked it, but I still wanted to know.

“Remember how I kept saying this wasn’t going fast enough.” His eyes met mine and I shook my head. “Well I wasn’t saying that just because I wanted you. It was also because you would die if i didn’t hurry up.”

“I just can’t believe-why me?” I cried moving the tears from my eyes. “Why me?”

He was standing right in front of me in a blink of an eye, if not less. I stared at him as his arms grabbed me.

“I love you, that’s why. I needed to be with you.” He told me trying to pull me to him, but I tried to stay out of his arms.

“No, let me go.”

“Diamond I’m doing this for us.”

“You’re doing this for yourself.” I said with tears now falling down my face.

“Stop saying that. I love you.”

“No you don’t. You don’t even know the meaning of the word.”

“Minnie.” He shouted.

I froze at hearing him say my nickname. I had never heard him call me by my nickname. He had always called me Diamond-besides those two times when he called me by my real name-I didn’t know whether I should be happy with him or angry.

“I have to kill him now. He is the last. “His is six and you are seven. You will die but unlike the rest you will be reborn as a spawn. The seven deadly sins are really something. A death for each sin and you’ll be a spawn.”

“But there hasn’t been seven deaths.” I whispered.

His eyes stared into mine and he just smiled. “Hasn’t there my dear.”

I shook my head. No there was Kate, Stephenie, and Jake. So there has only been three so far. My mind tried to think, who else. Who else had died with me-no!

“No you didn’t!” I yelled. He killed my father and my step mother. No he couldn’t have no!

“My love it will all be over soon.” Was all he said, and I could tell he was really ignoring me.

“No. Stop this Krad.” I told him as he was walking to Allen who was still not moving, but breathing very clearly.

This couldn’t have been right. No I would not believe that he had done this. No he was the only one who was my true friend, the only one who loved me and the only one I was in love with.

He wouldn’t hurt my brother. He knew how much he meant to me. Krad wouldn’t do this to me. He wasn’t a monster. He was an angel sent to earth to save me from my life.

“My love, soon.” He said as he turned to me quickly to look me in the eyes with his stormy blue ones. He blew a kiss at me and then went back to my brother.

I didn’t know why he had done this to me. He can’t love me and do this.

“Please tell me why? Why are you doing this?”

“Because I love you.” He said and I held back my laughter.

How dare he still say those words to me? If he loved me like he always said, he wouldn’t be doing this to me. He wouldn’t have killed all those people; he wouldn’t be trying to kill me.

“I do love you, Diamond. I had to kill those people so that we could be together. It was the only way for you to become a spawn like me, so that we could be together.”

I should have never wanted to live in this dream. If I had stood up for myself none of this would have happened.

And that was when knew what I had to do. I had to do it before he tried to stop me. Before he could read me and see what I was going to do.

“Krad.” I said as he was over my brother.

“Yes love.” He said as if he was busy, but cared too much about me to ignore me.

I shivered.

I beamed down and picked up the gun from off of the grass. I held it tightly in my hands.

“We went through this already dear.” He said as he put on a knowing smile.

“If I die first then I can’t become a spawn because the sixth person isn’t dead yet.” I frowned then smiled when I saw him eyeing me carefully. He had even gotten up from where Allen was.

“Tell me, dear, where are you going with this?” He asked and I could tell he did not like not being able to read me.

I wasn’t going to let him read me or my mind.

“You’re not huh?” He laughed. “But I don’t think you would do what I am guessing you are trying to say you will do.”

I chuckled at him. “You know what Krad? You said you gave me everything I wanted….everything I wished for…..well you know what I really want and wish?”

He just stared at me waiting and that’s when I said it.

“You know what the fuck I really wish…..for people like you to stay out of my life.” I yelled as I put the gun to my head then heard the bang.
