The Blood Of Three Kings

Tensions were high in the palace. That morning, as mornings often did lately, came with a quiet between the two girls. At breakfast Serenity watched Kaire practically undress Silvan at the table with her eyes. She could see lust in the maidens eyes. Kaire in turn could see dis like and spite in Serenity’s eyes. Lucian and Silvan were left out in the cold as far as the ladies attentions went this morning.

“Love?”Silvan tried his best to pull his wife’s thoughts to him. “Serenity?”

She did not notice. His lovely wife could only sit and glare daggers at the black haired Kaire. Lucian stood and tried to pull Kaire with him. The air was so thick with tension that you could cut it with a knife.

“Kaire we should go and pack our things.” Lucian’s hand was shrugged away. “Kaire?”

Silvan sighed at all of this. He too stood but he managed to actually pull Serenity up with him. Serenity still glared down a the maiden. Neither man was sure if they had ever run across two women that dis likes each other this much. Then again, Silvan was a damn good reason to be jealous. Serenity didn’t like the idea of this woman being around as it was. Kaire killed her father. She tried to kill her! She admitted to doing other things as well! It was worse because Kaire was not one to deny what she had done and she always made her thoughts about Silvan too well known. She wanted him.

“You Little..” Kaire slammed her fork down and pushed her self up. “Stop looking at me!”

“Stop looking at my husband like that!” Serenity blocked the view of Silvan with her own body. “You’re practically undressing him!”

“What do you man practically Prissy!”

“Kaire!” Lucian tried to pull her back. Both men knew this face off was coming. They both wanted to avoid it. “Come with me now!”

“No!” Kaire jerked her self away and walked around the tables cornering. “It is about time I said something to you! You don’t deserve him! He is mine! I have every right to him!”

“I don’t think so! He is my husband and you have a very un healthy obsession with him. You need to just stop. You are not now nor will you ever be his!” Serenity glared still. “If he wanted you he would have been with you.”

“Oh blah and what ever.” Kaire growled. “I can’t stand you. I wish I would have killed you.”

“But you didn’t. My father saved me from you.”

Serenity was panting by now. Lucian shook his head. Silvan grunted inwardly. This arguing was not healthy for Serenity. Kaire charged for the girl. She had enough of this little priss flaunting her Silvan in front of her!

“I’ll kill you!”

“You’re insane!” Serenity yelled. “Stop before you get hurt!”

Lucian wasn’t fast enough to grab the screaming Kaire. Silvan tried to pull Serenity away but she did not budge. Instead the staff that veleska gave her formed in her hand. Kaire hit against a magically created shield that threw her back. The staff glowed with a very vibrant silver color. Serenity would not back down against this woman.

“Enough!” Lucian ran forward and grabbed the Dazed kaire. “Kaire you’re acting like an immature child! Stop this! You can not have him! You do not need him! You are someone’s already! That is that! You will behave! You not attack the queen or king again and you will Not ver again wish her death!”

Kaire looked wide eyed at the man who spun her around physically to face him. Silvan took this opportunity to slip out of the room with Serenity. He could not get mad at her. Kaire had been itching to start something for days with her. He would trust Lucian to take care of the problem now and he would take care of Serenity. It was an unspoken agreement that the two came up with for they all needed to be on this quest.

“Kaire! You will Submit because I will Not put up with this any longer from you! The mother of my children will not act as a common jealous fool! I have claimed you as my wife and it will stand!” He grasped her shoulders hard. Lucian was never so temper mental with her before. “Do You under stand?! There will not be another Cat fight of this sort again!”

She saw that flicker of something undescribable in Lucian’s eyes and it scared her. He meant what he was saying. Kaire took quicker breaths. She was silenced by the out raged man’s temper. Lucian nodded to her now. He could see that it finally sunk into her that she was his and he showed her his affection bu holding her against him. His hands brushed against her half top robes material softly. He went from something dangerous and scary to a gentle man in the matter of moment. She even felt a tear drip down her cheek that was not her own.

“I am sorry my love but you needed to be shown. You can not keep causing these problems. There are much more important things. You my love are my only concern. It is you who must also look out for your self and what is inside.” His hand touched her stomach. “I know you love me deep down. You just have to free that girl that you have locked away.”

Kaire took a slow, deep breath and looked at her stomach and then him. He couldn’t mean that she was pregnant. He only took her days ago. Well she could be technically could be but it would still be a very early pregnancy. Were his abilities this great? Could he sense something that young inside her when even her body didn’t seem to know?

“You are pregnant love. I told you I wanted this with you. I would not have said it without a reason. Please Kaire. Will you stop this insane jealousy you’re harboring?” He was almost to tears again. Lucian prided him self on being strong but there was only so much that even he could take. “Please. I do honestly love you Kaire.”

“Lu...”

Kaire choked on her words as her bottom lip trembled. For a moment he thought he could see someone deep inside her that cared for him just as much. He knew she was there but Kaire kept that side of her so guarded and locked away.

“Come on love. Let us go apologize to Serenity and Silvan. We can get ready to leave and put these harsh feelings behind us.”

He was being so sensitive right now. Kitten, his adopted earth daughter, hid behind the draperies when the fight broke out. She was always just the quiet girl in the back ground. She was crying now because of her father. She knew he could be the most caring man in the world when he wanted. He tried just as hard as Kaire to hide it. It made her smile to see him this way.

“Daddy. I love you.”

She whispered it when Kaire and her father left the room. Kitten resented Kaire her self up until this point. If she could bring that caring side of her father, that she knew was there, then Kitten would welcome Kaire into their little family with open arms. She found her self slipping out after them so she could say bye at least and hug them.

“Daddy wait up!” Her feet carried her in a run to up along her father’s side where she grabbed his free hand. “Can I come and say bye?”

“Of course. I wouldn’t leave without that daughter.” Lucian grinned. “I’d miss a chance to hug and tickle you.”

“She isn’t going?” Kaire blinked back to reality at hearing this. “I thought you brought her every where with you.”

“”I normally do but this is a bit too dangerous for her to go along. Queen crystalis asked if she might like to stay at the Shi palace while we are away.”

“And I said yes.” Kitten smiled. “This way daddy knows I am protected while you two are off helping King Silvan and his wife.”

“Oh.” kaire looked down. “I see.”

“You have to come along Kaire. You know you do. As much as you would like to hide away and not help, you just can’t.” Lucian looked at her. “I will be along to protect you. I will not let anything happen.”

“That’s right. You’re my new mother. Daddy wouldn’t take you away when I just got you and my new brother or sister.” She knew about Kaire being pregnant. Her father rarely kept secretes from her. “So you don’t have to worry.”

Mom? Mother? Kaire looked forward blankly. Those words were strange to her ears. It made her dizzy to think about it. When Lucian caught her she gasped looking up at him. Lucian could only chuckle at her. Kitten ran ahead of them to say bye to Silvan and Serenity. She would save her bye’s to her dad for last.

“You know what love? I think were off to a really good start now.” Lucian picked her up and physically carried her now. “I have a feeling that things will work out. I’m not saying you have to like Serenity by the way. I am just saying that you can not attack her again and that you just can not have that silly obsession with Silvan.”

“So you don’t care if we bicker?”

“Actually that is entertaining to a degree. You just need to learn control and when you do learn it I will remove that stone.” Lucian smiled genuinely. “I promise this.”

“When did you turn into this sweet person on me?”

“Oh he peeks his head out every once in a while.” Lucian shrugged and adjusted his lover in his arms. “I try and control that but sometimes he just forces his way out.”

“So I see.” Kaire looked at the doors.”Are we really going to help them?”

“It would seem that is the plan.”

Lucian saw his daughter, Silvan and Serenity out front. Crystalis was standing near by as well with four horse like creatures. They could almost pass for horses accept for the fangs and glowing purple eyes. Their hooves were split and looked like they had toes with claws on them. Their coats were black as well as their mane and tail. Kaire gulped when she saw them. Those weren’t horses. They were flesh eating Horse things!

“We aren’t going to seriously ride those are we?”

“I don’t see why not. Queen Crystalis has asked the horse fangs to help us. They are a very strong breed and can carry us where we need swiftly. If we should encounter danger along the way they can also help defend us. It is her small way of helping us since she can not come along.”Lucian raised a brow. “Are you scared of them?”

“They eat skin! What if they try and eat us?!”

“Don’t be silly. Queen Crystalis has talked to them I said. I am sure they will not attack us. If they did they would risk the Shi’s anger.”

Lucian walked right through the doors and ginned at all the people. Kaire hugged him tighter when a horse focused it’s eerie purple eyes right on her. She could swear she saw a forked tongue come out and lick across it’s lips.

“Hi daddy!” Kitten grinned. She was hugging on the muzzle of one of these horses. “Aren’t they cute? I want one.”

Crystalis thought it was cute to see someone loving on them like that. Not many people understood the horse fangs. They were a gentle creature at heart. They were just mis understood because of their eating habits that was all.

“Oh they are adorable.” Lucian smirked and forced Kaire down to her feet. “And We will have to see about you getting one later but for now I am sure Queen Crystalis will want these steeds back.”

“Yes.” Crystalis nodded and spoke in her usual whisper. “I will let you ride them all you wish while you are here. Maybe one of the mothers in my stables will let you adopt one of their babies if you make friends with them.”

“Really?” Kitten gasped excitedly. “Cool!”

Oh this was too cute. Lucian grinned and hugged his daughter up. His lips pecked her cheek and she grinned hugging him back. Kaire was still stuck on the fact that these horses ate skin. Silvan chuckled at the girl. Serenity was a little disturbed at riding one her self but if Silvan said it was okay then it was okay.

“Well we should be off.” Silvan glanced over at Crystalis. “Thank you for the loan of these steeds my lady.”

“They are glad to help as am I.” She smiled and handed Serenity a whistle. It was a golden twig. “This will call them to you. Blow gently and they know to come and that you are not in danger. Blow very hard and panicked and they will come running to help with what ever danger you come across. They are strong. Trust them and they will trust you.”

“O..oh..um.” kaire closed her eyes when Lucian lifted her to the horses back. “I don’t know about this.”

“Love it will be okay. Kitten sais the are cute. Trust her if you can’t trust me.” Lucian grinned. “She knows cute.”

“She is your daughter.” Kaire shook her head. “She would think a drak beast is cute.”

“Yes I would and I do think they are cute.” Kitten stuck her tongue at her.” Just be easy. They won’t attack you.”

“Come on all.” Silvan motioned them forward. “We need to get back to Corinth!”

His horse reared and took off in a gallop. The other horses followed behind their herd leader obediently. Kitten ran after the galloping horses until she reached the court yard entrance. She waved and stood on her tip toes.

“Bye daddy! Bye Mother! Come back safe!! I love you!”

“I love you Kitten!”

Lucian’s voice echoed slightly in the distance. The four galloping horse fangs disappeared into the sun rise with their passengers safely in saddle. Kitten knew her father would make sure every one would return home safely.

“Come on Kitten.” Crystalis waved to the girl.”I will show you my stables.”

Kitten turned her saddened frown into a smile. She turned and looked at the retreating Shi’s form and ran after her. She really wanted to see the horse fangs. For now, this would do perfectly to cheer her up while her father was away.
