At The Alter
“Two days.” Kristian moves forward towards the Corinthian castle. His shadowed soldiers followed behind him. “Two days to travel here. Two days till their wedding. Look at all of them. I will show them complete happiness is an illusion.” He stepped off.
At the alter Serenity was stunning. Upon her face she wore a wedding mask of silver with chains that hung down and connected at a multi colored gem stone in the center of her forehead. Her white hair was pulled back into curls that danced over a silver hair wrapping. Her dress was purest white and flowed down into a long veil behind her. She was perfection.
“You look beautiful my love.”
Silvan cupped her hands in his. He wore his platinum armor. It was highly polished so that it could be used as a mirror almost. His boots were knee high and folded down at the knee and his cloak was the most beautiful of silver and white cloth. It could only compare to Serenity’s own dress.
“I wish I could see you Silvan.” Serenity whispered.
“Just picture me in your head and I am that my love.”
The priestess veleska smiled. She was asked to join them in their vows.
“Are you ready to begin the joining and become one?”
“Yes.”
Came from both Serenity and Silvan.
“Than let any who object to this union speak now or forever remain in silence.”
No one expected anyone to actually speak up at this part but to their surprise someone did. King Kristian Renwal forced him self through the guards. A guard flew back into he guests panting hard. Kristian had thrown him with one hand.
“I am speaking. She is my daughter and I do not give her permission to marry this day.”
“Oh no..”
Veleska gasped. Everyone in the great hall gasped.
“What?” Serenity was pulled behind Silvan. “Who is that? Did he say my daughter?” That couldn’t be. He wouldn’t come here would he? No he couldn’t ruin this for her!
Silvan drew his rapier and pointed it towards Kristian. He needed no words to speak what he was thinking.
“So the prince wants to challenge me?” Kristian smirked. “I must say you’re more of a fool than I thought.” His hand pulled a blackened sword from its hilt. “Well lets dance shall we?”
“You will pay for what you have done to Serenity and her mother!” Silvan stepped forward. “I will have Sarai returned here and you will die for your crimes.”
“Listen..you’re all talk. Lets just get on with this shall we?”
“As you wish.”
It had begun. The prince and the king were fighting one another. Veleska came up behind Serenity and pulled her away to safety of a couple guards. Serenity didn’t like what she was hearing at all. She heard armor clank and she heard a pained yell from Silvan. She did not seethe blood that trickled over his hand. He was glad she did not see.
“What’s going on! Silvan!!”
“It’s okay My lady.” Veleska shhd her. “Silvan is driving him back.”
“Why is he doing this? Is he really my father?”
She panted. Serenity couldn’t believe any of this was happening. It was supposed to be her wedding!
“I’m afraid so.”
“Noo!!” Kristian screamed and flew backwards. He held his side. “You do not understand! I m,ust take her from here to protect her!”
“You’re just trying to make an excuse to save your life old man!” Silvan held the rapier to his throat. “Be prepared to die.”
“Stop!!”
A voice made the room rumble and Silvan flew back away from Kristian. He landed unconscious onto the floor. Veleska cringed in pain from the dark magics being used. She quickly pulled her self away from Serenity before she suspected anything.
“Veleska??!” Serenity grabbed onto a guard. “Where is Silvan!”
“That will be quite enough from all of you.” Kaire waved her hand over the people and time seemed to freeze. Only Serenity, Kristian, and Silvan were left able to move, or so she thought. Veleska was in the background watching and waiting.
“I ask you to do one simple thing and you can’t do it. You are a disappointment Kristian. I think you need a punishment.”She smirked. Kaire snapped her fingers and Sarai’s form appeared through the blackness. She oophed to the floor.”Yes I do. I think I’ll punish you by killing your wife first.”
“Mom!”
Serenity fell forward. Sarai gasped seeing where she was. Kristian sat up and growled. His hand pulled away from his side.
“You will not harm them!”
“Watch me kingy poo.” Kaire sneered. “Better yet I think I will start with the daughter.” She grinned. Sarai tried to break free from the force that held her. She wanted to get to Serenity! “Aww don’t worry mommy..It will be quick.”
She shot her hand forward and a bolt of black flew in the air towards the blind Serenity. Serenity cringed. She could feel something coming towards her.
“Serenity!!”
Kristian threw him self in front of the spell and shoved Serenity away. He fell to the floor lifeless in that next moment. Sarai screamed. Serenity tried to pick her self up from being tossed to the side. What was happening?! She was so confused right now.
“Kristian no!!”
Sarai fell to her knees in tears. Serenity grunted and pushed her self up to her hands and knees.
“Mom!! Help!”
“Aww now to finish the job and take what is mine. “ She pointed her hand towards the helpless Serenity again but this time another force stopped her. She could not make the spell come to life! “What?” she looked around and found her answer.
“Maiden of Chaos. You should not have come here.” Veleska stepped forward. Her body was glowing a brilliant white. “I am Veleska of the Sisterhood of white. I am the chosen Avatar for the Seraphim of White and I will not allow this to continue.”
“You have no right to be involved! “ She tried to shoot another spell but this time it was aimed at Veleska. “This is my world and my plan!”
Tendrils of white and silver flew forward from the priestess in response to her words. The maiden knew she could not fight against these odds away from her lands so she let the spell surround her.
“This is far from over!” The maiden cringed at the bombardment of white and silver tendrils around her. “I will not let this end! He will be mine! The lands shall not rejoin!” She screamed.
“IT is for now.” The heavenly voice of Veleska filled the air once again. “Be gone Maiden of Chaos.”
The tendrils formed a circle around the maiden and closed her in. The circle of white started to glow so brightly that it made everyone look away, everyone accept the blind Serenity. When the light faded they all looked to the spot where the maiden had been. She was gone. She had been banished back to her middle lands.
“Kristian!!” Sarai’s cries broke the stunned silence. She shook the dead body of her redeemed husband. “Kristian Don’t you dare die on me! You’re not bad! They saw it! You saved her. You saved Serenity!” She was crying and burying her head into his lifeless chest.
“Mom?” Serenity looked down. Tears fell from her cheeks and onto the floor. “Daddy?” She stumbled forward.
“My love..”
Silvan tried to hold her back. He was only just awake though from being unconscious and he was confused.
“No..” Serenity inched over and knelt down beside her fathers dead body and her distraught mother. Her arms wrapped around Sarai and she hugged her close. “I’m so sorry mother. I..wish..I...” she choked down her tears. “I believe you. I know daddy was not the bad man I thought before. I wish he could come back.”
“Your hearts wish is granted.” Veleska gasped and from her back six wings of pure white burst forth. They spread open and her form started to rise in the air. “Your love has moved me. I will bring him back.”
This was not Veleska. Who? The goddess Serenity was now using the body of Veleska as a true Avatar. Kristian’s body floated into the air above the women. Sarai reluctantly let go and held onto Serenity tighter. They watched as the six wings of white wrapped around the man.
“All will be as it should.”
The goddess whispered. The white light of the goddess filled their minds. Her form was gone but they remained. She groaned. Serenity rubbed her temples. Everyone in the grand ball room was restored from their spell of holding. Sarai pushed her self up from the floor to look around. Silvan was behind Serenity and helping her to her feet.
“Veleska?” Serenity grabbed onto Silvan. “ What happened?”
Everyone was asking this. Sarai blinked. “Oh my god..” She looked around and than up. “Kristian!” His body was floating down upon a cloud of silver. “Kristian you’re alive!” Sarai was in tears again.
Serenity blinked at hearing this. Silvan was watching quietly. He was still trying to let the fog clear from his mind.
“Daddy?”
“Ouch..” Kristian grunted and sat up from the cloud. “Don’t yell love. I can hear you just fine.”
He smiled. His eyes were not cold and cruel as they once were. His face was soft and gentle. Kristian Renwal was the man Sarai once knew before the magic of chaos had taken him. Silvan raised a brow at all of this. He wrapped his arms around Serenity and held her close.
“Kristian..”
Sarai pounced him. There was just no other way to see it. She pounced the man into a hug and kissed him deeply. Kristian fell back laughing. His arms were wrapped around her and he gladly kissed her back. Serenity rubbed her eyes. Silvan looked down at her and smiled.
“I told you my love. I told you something would happen.”
“Yes..” veleska stepped forward. “I think we should all take a little break and let people re-unite. Than we can try this wedding thing again hmm?” She smiled.
“I ..can..” Serenity took quicker breaths. “I can see!” she looked to Silvan.”MY love..I..”
“Shhh..”
Silvan let his arms wrap around her and he lifted her up into a spin. His lips met her and he kissed her very passionately. Sarai and Kristian chuckled watching the two. The entire wedding crowd around them exploded into cheers. This was almost as good as any wedding, almost, but they still had that little matter to tend to didn’t they.

A/N: Guess Kristian has some redeeming qualities after all. This maiden though. Yeah she seems just a little jealous of our happy kingdom.
