Chapter 2

Author's Note: If you saw an incomplete chapter or the story cut off weirdly, please don't mind it. That was just me stopping my writing because of various reasons. Maybe I got hungry or getting a bathroom break or I fell asleep. In other words, I'm using AF text box as my scratchpad. So this story is just some rough draft that I wrote off my nonsensical brain. I don't do any initial planning or anything complex like plotting. Practically just have some rough outline in my head and the story developed on its own XD. Please bear with me.

I forgot to use the WIP tag! Oops, sorry!

Chapter 2

On his way to the kitchen Danz Mathiaz heard some voices at the house's entranceway. Curious, he detoured from his destination and stealthily approached the grand entrance, making sure to hide himself behind it's many gaudy decorations. Hearing his lover's voice, Prince Rayvern, who he had not seen for a few days, his heart leaped with joy. Perhaps they could talk for a few minutes before he shove the man outside the door. He recognized the man's beautiful golden hair (tied into a tidy braid today) and his broad back (covered in dark red velvet spring jacket) beside his royal aide among the many people crowding the entranceway. Rayvern was talking politely to some people standing in front of him, although Danz Mathiaz could not determine who they are.

When the group finally broke away from the entrance and made their way inwards, Danz felt like jumping out of his skin. Prince Rayvern was actually talking to his mother and two elder brothers, who perhaps just arrived home. And Matty was at the front of the group, leading them all in. He knew he have to do something to save his skin before it was too late. Steeling his resolve, he walked out fom his hiding spot and greeted them as sweetly as posible.

"Good evening, mother, brothers. You are early today." Before they could get over their surprise at his sudden greeting and reply, Danz turned his attention to Prince Rayvern. "My Prince, good evening. Pardon me for being so late in accepting your visit." He bowed formally to the man who looked so dashing just standing there in front of him.

"Oh, Danz! Finally-"

"My goodness! Danz Mathiaz!" His mother's loud exclamation froze everyone in their place. "What are you doing greeting Prince Rayvern looking like that! How dare you!"

Too late for Danz to realize that he was unkempt and dirty. Arvvez had thrown up on his waistcoat last night so he took them off, but some traces of it still remain on his rumpled white dress shirt. And he had not taken a bath since yesterday, nor had he combed his thick brown hair. His rumpled dark suit pant look dirty with unknown white splotches. And he was not wearing any shoes, just a pair of sorry-looking old socks he always wear at night. All in all, he looked like a disgrace in front of the elegantly dressed group.

"Sorry. I am sorry, mother. I was- " No excuse came to mind. All his confidence flew out the window. He had not foreseen this situation. "I- I'll go tidy up right now."  Danz knew he was panicking. It's time to make his escape.

"Right you are. And make it fast!" Mother's voice was full of restrained anger.

"Wait!" Prince Rayvern's voice stopped him in his tracks. "It is alright. I was the one who came over unannounced. I will go back for now. We will meet again tomorrow at the castle?"

"Yes, we will." Danz answered without a pause. That was a very good suggestion indeed, if not for the fact that Arvvez could still be unwell tomorrow. "Tomorrow, maybe." Their eyes meet Danz could see that the man was shocked and curious at his noncommittal response. Not good. "I can't promise -"

"Nonsense!" Mother cut in. "Must you go back now, my grace Prince Rayvern? Surely you have time for some wine? I believe this is your first time visiting our humble house." Mother had grabbed ahold of Rayvern's arm and leading him into the hallway. "Come now, let me treat you to some rare wine we have in our cellar."
