Setting Up and Settling In

Hey! First things first, thank you so much to both of my first reviewers! You guys are a big help, and I definitely appreciate the input! Yeah, the original second chapter was kinda forced, and so I have decided to try another go... I put the sex scene in just to feel it out... it was a little half realized, but I am approaching this story from a new angle now... here's the results! This time, I have decided to add more development, and get into the characters heads just a little... so no sex in this chapter, just an effort at thoughtful advancement of the characters! Don't worry, this story is in the erotica section for a reason, and the relationships and pairings that develop will be consummated, but I feel that will have more meaning now if the characters have a chance to grow on me and the reader first... I mean, two random people screwing each others brains out doesn't really matter if there isn't a little spark there, right? Also, sorry if I got some of the details about the boy scouts wrong... my boyfriend and some of his buddies have been educating me, and I don't really know all that much about it myself, so sorry if I screwed something up! Anywho, please review! I hope everyone enjoys it! Let me know what you think, your reviews matter to me! Thanks so much!

CHAPTER 2 - Setting Up and Settling In

Jacob had worked at camps before, and he adjusted pretty quickly to life at little creek. If anything, he had a knack for making friends, and it seemed as though he bypassed the “new guy” stage entirely. The boys worked during the day, and had the evenings off. Night was a lively time for the staff, it was the time they had for each other, a time to hang out and bond as a group. Brandon was naturally a little more introverted than his friend, but had fit in pretty well too… though most of his time was still spent tinkering with his computer. Jacob and Brandon had wound up sleeping in the same wing as Bud, a boy Jacob new from his involvement in a youth leadership training program camp they had both staffed at in the past. Bud was a wiry boy, 19 years old, and standing about 5’8’’ with sandy brown hair and brown eyes. He had a reputation for being rather abrasive; always saying exactly what was on his mind... and he “didn’t give a rat’s ass” whether people liked it or not… to him, facts were facts and truth was truth. In spite of his knack for pissing people off and stepping on egos, Bud was well respected in the regional council, and he was considered a great leader. Jacob was no slouch himself though, although he had only becoming active at that level more recently, he was an up and comer… his gift for winning people over and speaking well did him a lot of good. Brandon had been mostly uninvolved with the boy scouts after he earned his eagle, but his connection with Jacob helped him out a bit, and he was not without charm of his own. In spite of their individual quirks and oddities, all three boys were pretty charismatic in their own way; Jacob was quite winsome with his wisdom and gentlemanly demeanor, Bud’s roguish charm did him many favors, and Brandon’s wit and intelligence served to make him great company. The point is, when most people first saw them, “boy scout” was not the first thing to come to mind. They didn’t fit the mold, didn’t mesh with the stereotypes at all… in a way they were rebels, trend setters among their peers… and in another way, they were the embodiment of what the boy scouts were really like. The boys weren’t some kind of funny goodie two shoes kids trying to hang on to their childhood through scouting, they were young men with a code of honor and a certain self reliance… the fact that they were boy scouts was at once irrelevant and integral to who they were. When Jacob and Bud wore their uniforms, they looked like generals… and Brandon shared the distinction of having his Eagle Scout award with them. These three grew pretty close over the first few days, and they were certainly influential in the camp. The staff had a week to set up for the campers, and then 8 weeks of the actual camp. It would be a long summer for them all, and it was only just beginning…

Jennifer sat in the cool air of the health lodge, enjoying the shelter from the summer heat. She was hard at work, filing papers, organizing equipment, and maybe dreaming on senselessly about how she might “pimp out” her golf cart for the summer. It was her 3rd year on the camp staff, and she still felt she had a lot of settling to do. She was well loved by all the staff; though she never really noticed it… she was always so busy. She had worked in the kitchen her first year, but had quickly showed a knack for helping out with first aid emergencies… now she was a registered EMT, in her 3rd year on staff, and her second year as a health officer. She was only 20 years old, but her talent, her spirit, and her hard work distinguished her above her co-workers, Maggie and Janet. Maggie was the head health officer, a kind hearted woman who never knew quite what she was doing. Janet was good at her job; 19 years old, the attractive brunette was an assistant health officer along with Jennifer, but never really thought for herself… In fact, everybody knew that Jennifer was really the one who did all of the work… everyone but Jennifer anyway. She always felt like she wasn’t pushing herself hard enough… if something went wrong she perceived it as her fault, and she was always struggling to prove something… though she wasn’t sure just what. And so the pretty brunette sat in the cool health lodge, sweating in spite of her being out of the heat, and fretting over what paper went where, how many tongue depressors they had, and whether the band-aids they had would really last more than a week. Jennifer had been in the girl scouts, and then her boyfriend (ex boyfriend now) had gotten her into venture scouts, which she had liked a lot more. She had been to Philmont and Sea base, hiked the Appalachian Trail, and been white water rafting more times than she could count with her crew. She was capable, resourceful, willful, intelligent (she was a straight A student at an Ivy League college which she had won a full scholarship to attend), and envied, desired and/or respected by everyone who knew her… so why did she feel so weak? Jennifer saw none of these things in herself… she was drop dead gorgeous, and though she never played up her sexuality or dressed to show off, she exuded a certain intense sexuality anyway. She was beautiful, innocent, and experienced all at once… a paradox of traits and a wonder of a young woman. She paid no mind to whether she was beautiful or not, it never crossed her mind really… she was aware of attention from boys, and oblivious to the intensity of their lust for her. She did love staff though… she enjoyed being away from home, away from school… it was another world, and she liked so many parts of it. It was like a family really… Little Creek was close, and however quirky they could be, or however uncomfortable she might feel at times… it was her escape from the rest of her life. She was so busy working that she had little time to spend with everyone else, and she often stayed up alone late into the night just keeping the paperwork straight. She had noticed some of the new faces, there were always a few… a Jennifer felt she could usually tell a little about them pretty early on. Over the past day or so that he had been there, one of the new boys had stood out to her. She wasn’t sure what his name was… she hadn’t really asked anyone, but she liked the way he treated people… there was something… something she just liked about him. He wasn’t exactly some kind of stud, but there was a sort of a charm about him, and he was maybe just a little handsome… I mean, if she was interested in that kind of thing. OK, so he was maybe just a little cute… but that didn’t mean anything, and anyhow, she wasn’t that kind of girl. All the same, it wouldn’t hurt to say hello, maybe just get to know him a bit… he could be a great friend… I mean, that wouldn’t hurt at all…
