You two-timing runt
Well, Well it\'s me again~
For something that took me the whole of 15 minutes to write, i\'m glad people are liking it. Merethist is one of my most favourite character\'s, though in this story he certainly acts more grown up then usual.
Yeah, two chapters in one day is a little strange, but being sick and inspired makes me over creative. Thank you so much for taking time to read and review my sotry, it\'s really made my day.

Asyen Mari: we\'ll see indeed, eh? thanks for reviewing.
I\'m glad Mathius and Gren are making things interesting for you.
Alpha Infidel: Thanks for all the tips, I\'m glad you\'ve pointed out errors. I\'ll try and make my grammar better, I\'ve always been more of a poem person then a writer. Thus my stories tend to stay in my head. I\'m seriously happy you like it though, considering the mistakes and don\'t worry aslong as I have time, I\'ll keep updating.
and on with the story~
Chapter 2: You two-faced Runt
Merethist was roaming the halls of the palace, having been dressed for the Declaration Ball an hour or so earlier. He was dressed in a muted pink dress with white bows around the neckline and long sleeves. It was just enough to set off his pale pink hair. He didn\'t know what to think of Gren, as the other prince had seen edgy, distance and aggitated after their first brief exchange and it worried him. His father had told him not to worry, that they still had to get to know each other, but then his mother had said this marriage was for convenience and not love. It didn\'t matter if they knew each other right? He just didn\'t want his soon-to-be husband being one of those men that had numerous lovers behind his back, that would break Merethist\'s heart. The pink-haired male stopped and observed the large fountain that he had someone walked to in his thought and he looked around in confusion. Great, not even two hours here and he was already bloody lost!
"gee, where are the servants when you need them?" he muttered to himself, placing his hands on his hips as he attempted to backtrack his steps; though this just confused him more. Now he sorely regreted going off in thought and wished Gren would stay out of his head. Sure, the french prince was handsome and fit, but he seemed like a total charmer and Merethist was sure he most likely had a few already. He raised a hand and tapped himself on the head with his shut fan, frowning.
"stupid, stupid, stupid...what happened to stop thinking about him?" he muttered.
"stop thinking about who?" someone behind him asked and Merethist snapped his eyes open, spinning on the spot to observe the speaker. He pinked at the amused grin the blonde wore and looked down, chewing his bottom lip nervously.
"u-uhm.." he started, unsure of what to answer. The blonde chuckled and bowed to Merethist, who looked up at the gesture.
"sorry for embarrassing you, your highness" he apologised, before straightening up to res his green-eyed gaze on Merethist. "my name is Mathius, I am Prince Gren\'s personal servant" he introduced and Merethist nodded, snapping out of his embarrasment to curtsey. Mathius smiled at the gesture.
"oh, it is nice to meet you then, Mathius" Merethist replied with a smile. "my name is Merethist, I am to wed Prince Gren"
"oh, I know who you are alright" Mathius replied, gesturing with his hand for them to walk. Merethist stepped after him as they walked, moving to match Mathius\' pace as he let Mathius lead him to god knows where. Well, it was better then getting himself more lost.
"I\'m glad you came by actually, I was pretty lost" Merethist chimed, smiling at Mathius who in turn smiled back. Merethist liked Mathius, he was pleasant.
"oh? then it\'s a good thing I know this palace like the back of my hand" Mathius answered and Merethist giggled. He nodded and decided to take in where he was, just in case he got lost again. "It\'s pretty easy to tell where you are, each hall is named after a painting hanging there. This particular hallway is named the Théséide hallway" he explained, pointing to the painting it was named after. Merethist nodded as he took in this information, stopping with Mathius drew to a halt. The frenchman looked at the pocketwatch dangling from his waistcoat pocket and made a tsking sound with his tongue. "ah, the ball is about to start, hurry along your highness" he said, leading Merethist at a fast pace down the hall.

Gren was stood outside the ballroom, hands clasped behind his back as he waited for his fiance to arrive. King Priantus was already inside chatting to King Briate about the marriage of their sons and Gren was starting to wonder if Merethist was one of those types who loved being the centre of attention. How annoyed, he sighed and shifted, tugging his gold embroidered black military-style jacket more firmly around himself, brushing off invisible dust in order to occupy himself.
"Prince Gren! I am sorry I am late" Merethist called as he walked briskly down the hall, his hands holding his dress up. Gren looked up and nearly blanched when he realised his lover was with his fiance, this was sufficiently awkward.
Mathius smiled at Gren and bowed as Merethist and himself drew up to the prince. Merethist was making sure his dress was straightened out appropriately. Gren looked at Mathius sharply, who gave him an innocent look and a wink.
"well, it\'s about time for you two to enter so I\'m going in now. It was nice meeting you Princess Merethist" Mathius murmured, banding down to kiss Merethist\'s hand. He ignored a possessive grun that issued from Gren and decided that he either didn\'t like his lover touching someone else, or he didn\'t like Merethist being touched. The second thought aggrivated him, thus he decided the first was better. He straightened and sending a departing smile to Mathius, opened the double doors and entered.
"so, where did you meet Mathius, Merethist?" Gren asked, holding out his arm. Merethist looped his arm through it and rested his hand over the top of Gren\'s. Merethist looked up, pinking a little which only caused Gren to get even more annoyed with the idea of the two of them alone together. Had something happened? Did Mathius stake a claim on Merethist out of jealousy? He internally shook his head.
"I got lost actually, Mathius showed up and gave me a quick tour" Merethist answered with a smile and Gren smiled back, feeling better. At least the blush was only from embarrassment from getting lost. Gren tapped his hand on the double doors, which opened after a few moments, allowing him to lead Merethist inside the bustling ball. They stopped at the top of the stairs and Merethist looked around, his grip unconciously tightening on Gren\'s arm. Gren patted Merethist\'s hand comfortingly.
"introducing Prince Gren and his fiance from England, Princess Merethist!" King Briate introduced to the hall at large, holding his glass of champagne up. King Priantus followed the gesture. "may this merge our two nations and give birth to a new era of peace and prosperity" the french king continued, and a collective \'here, here\' echoed from the hundred or so ballgoers. Gren bowed to them and Merethist curtsied, before the two walked down to stairs and into the centre of the ballroom; which had cleared of people as they came down, leaving a large space for them to dance, surrounded by the guests of the ball. Gren bowed to Merethist, placing another kiss to his hand. The orchestra started, a slow dance led by the violin and oboe and Gren tugged Merethist in, a hand wrapping around his waist as they danced.
King Priantus sat on a throne placed next to King Briate\'s, watching his youngest son dance with the prince of France. He sipped at the sweet red wine he had been given by the other king, he looked at Briate, who was an older, bearded version of Gren. "so, what do you think??" he asked absently, twirling a strand of red hair around his finger boredly. Briate looked at Priantus, then sent a considering look to the dancing princes. "I think, that if we announce to the court that Merethist is a male; after the marriage. Then this can work" he answered, looking over at the grey-eyed king next to him. Merethist took after his mother more.
"mm~" Priantus gave an agreeing noise. "I think this could be very prosperous indeed and considering Merethist can birth children, he can give you an heir" he murmured, clicking his fingers to have a servant refill his glass of wine. He sipped the newly poured wine and looked at Briate, who looked even more pleased about the arrangement. "let\'s just hope the first is a male" he murmured and Priantus chuckled.
"if they sleep with each other that is" he commented and Briate grinned.
"oui, I think they will. It seems Gren is quite taken with Merethist and I have to admit, your son is very handsome" the french king said with a chuckle. His gaze slid around the room, landing on Mathius who looked a little jealous at the fact Gren was giving Merethist his whole attention. He hoped that Mathius knew his place well enough not to interfere.
