Tempo

Manipulation is a delicate art, requiring an eye for detail, flexible degrees of subtlety. Yet even this rule is oft broke, cleverly subverted by a skillful machinator, to achieve a desired end. In the game of trust, fact and fiction are currencies to be wagered sparingly, for the winner is decided only when the roulette of deceit is finally laid to rest, the best bets on the table all leading to the prize.

Thus does this game begin again, to the applause of the spectators, the chagrin of the players, and the eternal amusement of the chessmaster.

School can never really be the same anymore, and it's that stupid jerk's fault. I can't stop thinking about him during class, during recess, during study hall…right now…

In my defense, it's probably because he came to visit me during lunch, taking advantage of the short distance between our two schools and somewhat synchronized schedules the district maintains. He even bought me lunch, which of course I eyed suspiciously. Gabe never does nice things for me without a reason, so it's clearly a bribe.

The only problem is that I'm not sure I'd find the reason…well…unreasonable.

"So, how come you're hangin' out with me all of a sudden?" I asked Gabe, in between bites of a roast beef sandwich and some macaroni and cheese. "Don’t you have your friends to think about?"

For his part, he just smiled and shrugged in that aloof way of his, so I scowled at him and returned my attention back to my food. Halfway through my sandwich my breathing hitched in surprise as I felt his arms slide around me, pulling me close, and I instinctively leaned back against his embrace. A quiet part of me figured I should be concerned, and I knew that it would win, in time, but the louder part was happy to be wanted. Naturally, Gabe wouldn’t put himself in a compromising position like this unless he was certain we were safe – the fact that we were eating in an empty classroom, all of the other students were in the lunchroom, and the teachers were enjoying the only solace a middle school had to offer in their vaunted teacher’s lounge also reinforced the point.

Only later would I think to question the rather...convenient privacy...

“My friends can learn to live without me for a bit, I’d think. No, today I’ll just take a break from them.  What do you think, hm Dyne?”

I didn’t even have a chance to answer before he’d turned me around and pulled me up and out of my chair, causing me to yelp in surprise. As he drew me close, I wrapped my legs around his waist, grinning stupidly at him. Returning the smile, albeit with more suave, he kissed me, lightly at first, and then more and more demanding, as if he were devouring me. The sudden change in his tenor caused me to gasp, and he wasted no time sliding his tongue in my mouth, further deepening the kiss.

A lot can happen in three days, and Gabe made sure not to waste a minute of it. His hands were usually running across my skin, and rarely was I not comfortably seated in his lap. We still managed to play games, of course - cutscenes just became their own minigame to us, a special...touch, feel and kiss minigame. We're especially big fans of games like Xenosaga, which probably doesn't surprise anyone. One cutscene in that game was equivalent to one...what did Gabe call it...ah...'blowjob,' with time left over for kissing. It really sucked when Monday came around.

Now, though, I'd say it's starting to look up.

He brought us over to the desk, where he dropped me down easily, then slid his fingers underneath my shirt, letting them roam over my chest, while bringing his head down to nip at my neck, careful not to bite too hard; explaining a fresh mark like that would be trouble. My hands instinctively moved to clutch his shirt and I tilted my head to give him better access, soft whimpers escaping my lips, my body feeling so hot, my heart beating so hard in my chest...

And then the jerk pulled away, a sardonic smirk on his face...and no evidence of any arousal.

"Wh-wha...?" was my eloquent response. He just laughed, a full, rich sound, which made me feel a little better. He doesn't laugh like that much anymore, not when snide smirks and knowing glances are all the laughter he needs.

"Sorry, little brother, but lunch is almost over, and I still need to see the Old Man. He and I have history, you know. My greatest rival."

I blink, considering his words, conscious of the nickname we'd come up for the principal. "How can he be your rival...?"

"What, they don't teach a class on my exploits? I'll have fix that," was his cryptic , smirking reply before he stole a kiss, ruffled my hair, and walked out of the room.

Leaving me painfully wanting, disheveled, and alone.

...Rat fink.

***

It didn't take me too long to come back to my senses, but something was nagging at me, something that Gabe had said, and I wanted an answer from him before he left. He said he was going to see the principal, so that's a good place to start. I mean, I'm just going to clarify why he'd want to visit a principal he hasn't seen, officially, in at least four years.

And they say curiosity killed the cat. Wait, does that make me...never mind.

As I wind my way down the halls, I'm struck by how empty they are. Even during lunch, there's always the occasional student heading to the bathroom or to the computer lab, a teacher passing by, custodians, someone, anyone. Today, though, it was as if they'd all be locked into a closet or something.

Even the classrooms I passed were mostly empty, a few lit by teacher's who, it seemed, didn't get the memo and were preparing for their next class. I hurried by, intent on my task, though now my interest was piqued.

Of course, once I got to the principal's office, I sorta...stopped caring, cause Gabe was inside and I still had a question for him, so weirdness at school by course had to take a backseat.

Taking a deep breath, I opened the door and looked inside for the secretary, or at least an aid.

No one was there, although I could hear a muted conversation from the principal's office. I could just wait until they finished - Gabe left when there was still a good 15 minutes of lunch left (which was plenty enough time to do...stuff...) - and catch him on the way out.

On the other hand, I could go to the door, hope they were involved in their conversation, and hear some part of the undiluted version of the Gabe's visit.

It looked good on paper, at least.

Carefully, and as quietly as I could, I made my way to the principal's office proper; his little space in the world was behind everything else, like an aloof overseer, lording over his vessels from on high. Once there, I put my head on the door, listening to see if I could make out the conversation, and was surprised that I could, though it was faint.

"Still," a voice said - it must have been Gabe, cause even muffled I could make up the unmistakable smirk in his voice, "I'm rather impressed you agreed. And on such short notice, but a deal's a deal, right?"

An older voice, the principal, chuckled in reply, and I think I hear something being poured, before the distinct 'clink!' of glasses confirms my suspicions. "To partnership, then. Although, I have to say, whatever it is you're planning, it must be something. It wasn't easy keeping people in one place, especially my staff. And with all of these kids, I'm rather impressed that it came together so easily."

This time, the chuckle belonged to Gabe. "I'm just running an experiment, a social thing really. I don't want to spoil it early, it might muddy the results." I'm certain I can hear the smirk in Gabe's voice deepen, and my fingers itch to open the door and burst in, demanding to know more.

However, if there's one thing Gabe's been making me work on, it's my impulsiveness; so, for now at least, I discreetly continue to listen. Gabe seems to have more to say anyhow.

"At any rate, you've more than fulfilled your end of the bargain, and I'd be remiss if anyone thought me unwilling to uphold mine." I hear a chair scrape back and I guess it's Gabe I hear moving, and then I'm not quite certain, but I think I hear something unzipping, and now I can't help but tip the door open, just a little and as quietly as I can, and peek in. And what I see is almost enough to make reveal myself.

The principal was comfortably seated in his throne, leaning back as Gabe, as calm as ever, kneeled before him. Worse, Gabe's so casual about the whole thing...it's as if he's done this before. I watch with mixed feelings as he brings his hand to the older man's erection, stroking it teasingly, almost playfully. The principal lets out a content sigh, murmuring something to Gabe that I don't catch, but it causes brother to chuckle. He strokes the man for a moment longer then brings his head down on the man's length, engulfing it entirely. The principal groans appreciatively, fisting his hands in Gabe's hair. Gabe continues to work his magic, sucking off the older man with the skill and confidence that he has in everything he does.

I finally come to a point where I can't take it anymore, watching him...service our principal. Some part of me whispers it's because I'm jealous, but I quash it, reasoning that it's...it's different to do...that...with an adult. Even I realize how weak it sounds, and before I can think on it anymore, I bolt from the door, but not before catching a glimpse of Gabe glancing at the door, smirking.

Have I mentioned how much of a jerk he is? As if "rivals" do...those kinds of things...

Putting what I saw aside, I focused my attention on the rest of class, studiously pushing aside any thoughts of my brother.

Of course, if it were that simple, then Gabe wouldn't be my brother.

"Dyne, there you are! Come on, I'll give you a ride home. The sooner we get home, the sooner you can finish your homework and the games can begin."

Rat. Freaking. Fink.

I considered, for a moment, giving him the cold shoulder, but Gabe was known in our school, and already a crowd was gathering. I wouldn't get the answers I wanted, or the chance to yell at him, for a while if I waited much longer.

...My other reason was cause he just promised that we'd play more games. Frankly, I should be pissed with him for what he did, but...oh, I'm thinking too much about it and it's making my head hurt.

Sighing, I reposition my messenger bag, and rush over to where he's standing, tugging on his sleeve. "Well? If you're gonna give me a ride, we should leave before you wind up taking half the school with you."

Another lesson he's tried to teach me: word usage. Double meanings will take you places with people like him, apparently.

He raises an eyebrow, indicating that he catches my meaning and finds it amusing, before motion with his head to follow him.

He's got a pretty nice car, not like a restored junkyard Mustang or anything, but it's still pretty cool. It's an Altima that Dad helped him purchase last year, and though brother complains that he'd rather get something else, the way he takes care of it show how much he likes it.

The ride home could have potentially been particularly awkward. Gabe, however, doesn't follow the rules that normal people do.

"So, did you like what you saw?"

All I can do is stare at him incredulously, my cheeks bright red. "W-what are you talking about? See what? I don't know what you're talking about."

Yeah. Cause I'm really convincing.

Gabe just laughs, ruffling my hair absently before making a turn onto our street. "You don't need to play dumb. You do that well enough without acting."

I scowl at him, crossing my arms over my chest. "As if! Besides, I'm better at blowing than you...are..." I can feel myself begin to blush so I look away from him, which causes him to laugh even harder as he pulls into our driveway. I open my mouth to stay something smart, but then Gabe's there, kissing me, practically devouring me. I feel like I'm drowning in him, but it's not unpleasant. All too soon, though, he breaks the kiss.

"Come on. I want to try something new today."

In a daze, I follow him out of the car, into the house, up the stairs, and into his room, where, after he shuts the door and locks it, he drags me over to the bed, pushing me down on my back. I blink up at him, tilting my head to the side. What could he want to do? Try something new...what could be left to try?

And then those lips of his are upon my own, and the last thought that runs through my head before I lose myself in the kiss is that whatever he’s about to show me...it’s gotta be something to top this.
