The Gang

Chapter 2: The Gang

Sadie sat out on the balcony, thinking over her day. Jaxs had explained that the entire building was owned and lived in by the Diablo Brotherhood. He introduced her to Carmen, Cat, Hil, Janice, and Lucky. They were “The Girls”, the four females of the gang, with the sweet loving nature of a female and the strength and the determination of a male. They greeted Sadie like she was an old friend, gave her a bag of clothes and sat her down. Jaxs excused himself and the girls started talking.
“You gave us quite a scare when you blacked out!” Carmen said handing Sadie a glass of water. She was short and chunky, with cropped brown hair streaked with red.
“Fang is such an animal! We’ve all had to fend him off.” Hil scowled tossing her long blonde hair over her shoulder.
“That’s because Strike girls are whores.” Lucky added taking a seat flaming red curls pulled into a ponytail.
“Look Blue, you’re totally safe, Jaxs is a great leader.” Janice said then leaned closer, “And great in bed!” she whispered through Sadie’s curls. Cat hit her in the arm.
“You would know, Jan and Jaxs had a thing about a year ago, but it didn’t work out.” Hil said, Sadie smiled.
“We mutually agreed to end it, but Blue hunny, he’s got the hots for you.” Carmen said, and all the girls nodded.
“No he doesn’t…he probably finds me annoying.” Sadie said blushing slightly.
“Are you joking, look any new girl that is brought her is sent to stay in one of our apartments, but last night Jaxs insisted you stay in his…no girl stays in his apartment, except for the girl he’s dating.” Cat explained.
“Which he’s not…totally available, he’s a sweet guy but a tough nut to crack…but I bet you can do it!”
Then Jaxs entered “Not talking about me I hope?” He said putting a hand on Sadie’s shoulder. Sadie looked up at him and shook her head.
They left and returned to the loft. Now Sadie sat watching the town, and thinking about what the girls had said. Jaxs, had saved her, and he’d been honest so far, Sadie decided to just let things progress naturally. Maybe it would turn into a relationship, maybe they’d stay friends. Whatever happens…happens.

Sadie was doing the dishes one night, a week after she’d agreed to stay, when the door open. Jaxs had shown unending kindness, and in payment Sadie played housewife. She cooked and cleaned, and kept the loft immaculate for Jaxs. Sadie knew Jaxs had gone out with a few of the guys, but when Kato and Tank entered with Jaxs hanging between them fear ripped through her heart. He was covered in blood and bruises; obviously there had been a fight.
“We were ambushed…nothings broken, but he’s pretty bloody.” Kato said as they carried Jaxs into his bedroom.
“Look, just lay him down; I’ll get him cleaned up. I have seven brothers, I can handle this.” She replied, and the two laid Jaxs down on his bed and left the loft. Sadie ran to the bathroom pulled out bandages a washcloth, her mending kit, ice, and grabbed a shirt from her room.
She carefully pulled Jaxs clothing off, the sight of Jaxs in his boxers being nothing new to her. She started dressing his wounds, sewing up a few of the deep ones, and wrapping them in strips of her shirt. She gently pushed his blood matted hair off his forehead and cleaned up his face; she stopped for a moment and looked over her work. Seeing Jaxs like this ripped at her heart, she choked back tears her mind going back to what the girls had said, did he really want her? She leant down and kissed his forehead. Then turned to leave the room, when she heard Jaxs take a ragged breath.
“Blue?” he said quietly his voice harsh. Sadie spun around and went to his side taking his hand in hers. She pulled a chair next to the bed, and stroked the back of his hand with her thumb.
“Shh…I’m here.” She replied and he slipped out of consciousness again. Sadie sat there all night, watching Jaxs sleep, knowing he’d be fine, but still worrying he wouldn’t. She didn’t remember falling asleep, but soon her head fell onto the bed and she slipped into her subconscious.

Sadie woke to find herself in Jaxs’s bed, she looked around Jaxs was nowhere in sight. Her heart raced, where was he? Is he ok? She leapt out of the bed and dashed into the main room.
“Jaxs? Jaxs where are you?” She said frantically, checking the kitchen and her bed room, “Jaxs!”
“Blue, babe, I’m right here.” Sadie spun around to see Jaxs exit the bathroom in a towel. Sadie stormed over to him, and grabbed his arm.
“Don’t you ever do that to me again, you hear? I thought something had happened to you! Nearly give me a bloody heart attack.” Sadie said and began rewrapping Jaxs’s wounds. Jaxs was silent for a moment as Sadie carefully wrapped the gash on his chest with a strip of cloth. Her fingers brushed his skin, leaving heat in their wake, he was suddenly very aware for the fact he was naked besides the towel. He took her hand to stop her feverish nursing.
“I’m sorry Blue, but I’m fine. I had to get the blood out of my hair.”
“You could have woke me.”
“But you looked so peaceful, and you had a late night.” Jaxs said with a beaming smile. Sadie blushed and returned to her job, Jaxs laughed to himself and watched Sadie work.
“Ok, all done…but I’m not allowing you to go out anywhere! You have 22 stitches in your chest and if they open you could do some serious damage. I’m going to make breakfast, you put some clothes on.” She said and left the room.
“What ever you say darling.” Jaxs replied sarcastically, and sighed as he watched her retreating back. She was one amazing woman; he thought to himself and pulled out a shirt.

The next day Sadie returned from grocery shopping, to find Jaxs having a meeting with his closest gangsters. She was used to it, the inner ring boys were around at least once a week, and Jaxs just asked her to ignore them.
Sadie began putting away groceries, she said goodbye to the boys as they left. Jaxs closed the door and took a seat on the opposite side of the counter, and pulled out the Oreos. Sadie took them away, and put them in the cupboard.
“Not before dinner, I’m making fajitas tonight!” She said and Jaxs laughed.
“What would I do with out you, Blue?” He said and walked around the counter. Sadie was just finishing with the groceries. Jaxs grabbed her arm, making her stop her work. “Look, Sadie, I want to say thank you for last night, and for everything you’re doing around here. It’s nice to actually eat and have clean clothes. Look, if you’ll stay for good, join the gang, I can promise you that I’ll never let anything happen to you.”
Sadie looked away from him, “Jaxs, I…”
“Please, it’s nice having you around.”
“Ok, I’ll stay, I’ll join…but we are going shopping for my bed room then.” She said with a smile. Jaxs just nodded and smiled back, letting her arm go so she could finish dinner.
