Chapter Two
To The Mortal Realm

An unmeasured amount of time had passed since he first entered into the ceremonial room of Mi’Pra. Had it been minutes, hours or seconds since he’d first traveled through the doubled door, E’kari didn’t have a clue as to the answer. What he did know was once he entered into the ancient room, he was no longer on the plains of Dasa. This room was the portal connecting the ancient ones who’d once ruled over the eastern and western plains of Dasa, with this their world. This room was the gateways that linked the dead with the living.

The room was dimly lit, the only light coming from torches that had been lit near the wall panels. E’kari kneeled before the six large crystals in the center of the ancient room. His head was bowed and his gaze set upon the white marble floors decorated with the crest of blue interlocked moons centered in the sun. Patiently he waited for the figures to speak. It would be within their time that they would appear, and it seemed that time had finally arrived. Without warning, the room vibrated and electricity crackled on the air. E’kari lowered one hand to the floor, steadying himself. He’d nearly lost his balance from the force of the pressure that weighed down on him. Invisible wave of raw energy filled the room, making the air heavy. After hundreds and for some, thousands of years of being gone from their plains, they still possessed such power. And they would make it known they still held such abilities through such a grand entrances. But it was their way, he thought as a smile eased onto his face.

“Rise, E’kari.” The sing songy voice of a woman ordered.

E’kari acknowledged the command with a nod of his head, but paused, allowing himself time to collect his thoughts. It took great amount of mental stamina to stand in their presence of ones so great. The energies they gave off could easily make one light headed, and dazed if they did not have the proper mental blocks in place. Steadying his breathing, E’kari rose to his feet and turned his gaze upon the six crystals. Five were aglow with the palest blue light. Encased within each crystal, a figure, poised with a regal-ness that was hard to place into words. Four males and one female all dressed in the finest silks, furs, and armor. Their hairs ranged from the snowiest of whites, to fieriest of reds, cool blues, and rich blacks. And their dress was equally impressive.

The males were decorated in bejeweled armor and heavy furs. Around their waste they wore Sash decorated with the Ekiken, and Desert Sands Crest. A half moon centered within the sun. But of all the sights that greeted his eyes, Kieran by far was the most breathtaking.
.

Kieran’s beauty alone was enough to make the most polished armor seem dull. Stunning creature she was with her glorious mane of blue black, cascading down her back, touching the indivisible pedestal on which she stood. Electric blue eyes were set inside a most exquisite heart shaped face, and outlined in long thick charcoal lash, that delicately kissed her cheek each time she blinked. Her attire was different from that of the males. No armor did she wear. A simple silk, blue gown, embroidered with the Ekiken and Desert Sands Crest, hugged the hour glass curve of her body, and dipped excessively low in the front giving the most tantalizing view of the smooth pale skin of the valley between her breasts. Only a simple black obi held her gown closed. It was a shame …even disrespectful, but E’kari couldn’t help but wonder what he would find if that obi was torn away. Would the sight beneath her gown be as beautiful as that which he was viewing even at that moment? E’kari felt his cock stiffen, and cursed that part of him that was male.

“Well, do you have news for us, E’kari?” he heard Kieran ask but was too busy being enamored by her beauty to offer an answer at that moment.

Looking at her reminded him of what little self control he’d had over himself as of lately. His prowess was legendary amongst the court, but his appetite over the recent weeks had become insatiable. Three women at once were not uncommon for him, but now he needed five and six. It was becoming ridiculous. But this was neither the place nor time for this sort of thought, he reminded himself. E’kari lowered his gaze, his cheeks aflame with embarrassment. If lightening was to descend from the sky and strike him where he’d stood, he have deserved it every bit for the impure thoughts he held at that moment. He would need to give the Lady Kieran the respect due to her as one of the ancient ones. Even if she was the cause of a raging hard on, he could not be so disrespectful.

E’kari quickly tore his eyes away from Keiren, choosing to focus on the dark, empty crystal at the far recesses of the room. “Ye…yes,” E’kari finally answered and refusing to look at Kieran.

“Do not fret, young one. You are not the first to suffer at the sight of me.”

E’kari felt a hot rush of embarrassment. Was it so obvious he’d been lusting after Kieran? The entire room erupted with laughter adding to his uneasiness. But his nervousness quickly passed as he relaxed and smiled at her words. It was true the lady was notorious for her beauty, as well as other attributes that one dare not mention openly. From the way the other men laughed, E’kari gathered they’d probably felt same as he at some point. What Akarian male with a working set of eyes wouldn’t?

E’kari had read many books about her over the years, and remembered wishing he’d lived during her time… to be part of her court. What an extraordinary thing that must have been. But her reign had been thousands of years before he’d been born. What a shame. And there were so many things he would have liked to have shared with her.

“I can imagine.” Kieran’s voice came low and sultry against his ears.

E’kari’s blush deepened as a flash of imagery passed through his mind. Bodies entwined, doing things that made brow wet with perspiration. Things that made his pants suddenly feel two sizes too small. And just like that, the images were gone. “E’kari quickly turned his gaze upon Kieran, and found her smiling down at him. She’d read his thoughts, and in the process, shared a few of her own.

“Forgive me, Lady Kieran.” E’kari stammered, still reeling from the shock of what’d he’d been shown. He’d need eight women to satiate his hunger later after having seen something so intense. “My mind is not in the most appropriate place it seems.” He managed to say, regrouping his thoughts.

“It is understandable, and forgiven, young one. After all, although the women of the court have met your needs, they are not equipped to satisfy you. This is the reason we have brought you here, again. Have you spoken with Zurin?”

“He has refused my request.”

“Have you made it known that it is not you that has summoned him, but we, the elders?” One of the men spoke, pulling E’kari’s gaze to a large Crimson haired male, draped in elaborate brown furs and armor.”

“I have, Lord Ukyou, but it is to no avail.” E’kari replied.

“Your other self is bold to show such disrespect. Does he not realize it is by our will he exist? We have but to say it, and he will walk this plain no more.”

“He realizes it, elder, but you must realize that he is a man who longs for death. Such threats will not work with him.”

“Both Zurin and E’kari have suffered a great loss, Ukyou. Try to understand how they must be feeling,” Another of the males interjected, pulling E’kari’s attention to the crystal that sat alongside Kieran’s.

E’kari stared up at the male and his heart rate quickened as always when he stood before him. He was extremely tall with ivory tresses and golden eyes that blazed like coals on fire. Milky white skin and an androgynous face. White furs draped his shoulders and spilled down to his feet. Lord Nanaho was his name. Standing before the creators and old rulers of Dasa was always a task, but it seemed magnified whenever E’kari was in Nanaho’s presence. And for good reason. Nanaho was E’kari’s great grandfather. And ironically enough, Ukyou was Nanaho’s other self. E’kari had always thought it strange that the heavens had paired such opposing personalities, but it was the will of the heavens same as all that happened in their realm.

‘Must you baby them?” Ukyou snorted, pulling E’kari from his reverie, “We have entrusted them with the care of this world. They must push their feeling aside, and concentrate on this alone.”

“I do not baby them, but show them some compassion. None of us have known such a loss. Our transitions into sovereigns were not tainted. Respect that it has taken them time to recover.”

“Time that has cost lives I may point out.” Ukyou returned bitterly, “Even now this world cries out from blood that had seeped into its pores. Their recklessness has opened a crack in the void, releasing strange creatures into our realm. And if they have been able to come to our world, it will be but a matter of time before he becomes aware of the tear, and attempts to return. And then what do you think will occur, Nanaho? They in their current state are no match for him. This world of peace we have created will become desolate, a waste land. Will you not concede this much?” The room erupted once more. Only this time it was not the sound of good humor that echoed throughout, but the cries of the other elders voicing their outrage and agreement with Ukyou’s sentiments.

E’kari felt a great weight on his shoulders. He knew that of all the sovereigns he and Zurin’s had been the most troubled from the start and this didn’t sit well with the young lord. Especially knowing how much of a disappointment he must be for the one he looked up to most. E’kari looked over to Nanaho in time enough to witness him lower his head. There was no valid argument for their behavior, E’kari knew this and from the look on his grandfather’s face he knew this as well.

Nanaho lifted his head, and focused on E’kari. “I agree that they are no match for him. This is why E’kari must seek her out, and return with her before the gates of Si’tar have been opened. If we prevent this much, we won’t have to worry about his returning.”

“ Nanaho speaks truth. I have consorted with the oracle, and this is what she has found. Look to the life stone, E’kari,” Kieran ordered thrusting a delicate hand in front of her.

E’kari tore his gaze from the group, settling his eyes on the red stone that burned brightly behind him. Smoke rose up around the stone and then slowly parted into two curtains of thick white mist to reveal a girl. A girl not of their world obviously. Her hair was parted through the middle and gathered into two braids that landed on her shoulders and fell beneath a full bosom. Her skin was smooth cinnamon, her eyes like two large pools of onyx, decorated with equally long dark lash. Her mouth was full rosy, delicious, and set beneath the tiniest nose.

Obliviously, she read a book. E’kari walked in closer the crystal, reading the Title. “Dance with the Devil”. A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. He could appreciate her taste in literature. She was an adventurer at heart. Lost to the shear rapture of her beauty, E’kari continued to watch her and his groin continued to tighten in painful degrees. If it were possible to reach out and touch this minx from the neither realm, his hands would have been planted firmly on her bosom where her nipples fought her olive green turtle neck sweater for release. He had to have her.

“You are drawn to her?” Kieran asked, all the elders noting the almost entranced expression he wore.

“Yes.”

“That is a good sign,” Kieran replied as the mist lifted slowly, swallowing the image.

E’kari spun on his heals, his amber eyes ablaze with curiosity. “Tell me her name.”

“Asha,” Was the simple reply he received, but it was enough, for now.

“Asha,” E’kari repeated the name with fervor. “A mortal from earth?” He remarked giving the elders his attention once more.

“Yes,” Nanaho replied.

“She will be of no use to us. A mortal’s body can not with-stand what is required. It is frail and will collapse under the pressure. Surely you the elders know this?”

‘But you were drawn to her. Your head was cloudy, and at that instance your every thought was consumed with images of her, and what you desired of her, was it not, E’kari?” Kieran probed.

“It’s true.” E’kari turned towards the ruby colored crystal, gazing at it with a longing he could not quite place into words, but he understood clearly. The woman from the vision was the source for the heat that was rapidly building inside of him. “I could think of nothing except being close to her. Wanting her. Needing her more than I’ve ever needed anything in all of my three hundred years.”

“Then what the oracle has said is true. That woman is the one you must seek. At all cost, you must bring her back here and present her to your other half.”

“Zurin will vehemently refuse her,” E’kari replied.

“We realize this, but the oracle has spoken. That girl is the one you both have longed for the past five years. In the beginning, Zurin will hold her human frailty against her. This is to be expected after all he’s has endured, but he will succumb. It is written on the stars that he will. Our worry lies within the time that Zurin gives himself over to her. Time is not on our side, E’kari. The hole in the void is growing daily. The separation of sovereign has been too long. For this world’s sake, it can not continue. She is the bridge that will unite you both once more. Do you understand this?”

“I understand,” E’kari answered, remembering all too well the consequences of divided rulers. A world in ruin was what awaited them if their souls remained separated for too long. He wouldn’t allow this to happen.

“Then it has been decided,” Nanaho chimed, “You will be teleported to her realm. Once there you will meet up with the fair one, and convince her to return with you. Do you have any questions?”

“No.” E’kari shook his head side to side. He had no questions. He was aware of what needed to be done and he would do it. Besides, the elders had never led them wrong before, and E’kari was sure they wouldn’t now.

“One final word,” Ukyou spoke after a bout of silence, “Know that there are those who will attempt to stop you from succeeding. You can’t let them stop you, because if you do-.”

“Our world will be destroyed,” E’kari cut him off, “As Ekikens’ sovereign, I swear before heavens of Dasa, I won’t fail.”

“I am depending on you, E’kari.” Were Nanaho’s final words, before slipping in sync with the elders who’d begun to chant in their ancient tongue.

The room quaked as clouds of golden mist rolled over the floors and slowly crept up, swirling around, and around, faster and faster, the images encased in crystal becoming further and further away, until E’kari could see them no more. Their world was in danger of being destroyed, and all because he and Zurin’s irresponsibility. Their only hope lay with a girl that he wasn’t even sure could withstand what they needed of her. Or that she would agree to be the bridge for that matter. After all, he could not force his will upon her.

Those chosen, although chosen, also had to be willing to take on the responsibility of E’kari. Only through her could the souls of the sovereigns be united again. Could she do it? Would she be willing too? “Asha,” E’kari whispered enjoying the feel of her name as it rolled off his tongue. Her name was the sweetest nectar. Every inch of his steadily awakening body said she was the one. This Asha was their salvation, but could he convince her of this truth before it was too late?
