chapter 1

Chapter One

Faith cursed as another man patted her roughly on the ass. She looked at him from over her shoulder, giving him a false smile. She had worked at this nightclub for way to long and it really wasn’t making enough money to have all these drunken arrogant men grabbing at her nonstop.
The one thing she didn’t understand though was why she was getting more attention then all the other waitresses. Unlike them, she wore blue jeans and a high cut tank top. So, why she was always the center of attention? She had a voluptuous athletic body, but she tried her hardest to discourage these men.
Making her way to the bar, seeing her best friend Heather working the bar crowd. Heather had a way with her hands to make those bottles of liquor spin and rack up the tips. In the two years since Faith had been working here, she had yet to see Heather break a bottle.
“Hey babe!” Faith called to the bar tender. “Will you switch me up? I need a break from all the groping.” Heather broke into a hearty laugh. She knew Faith really well and. The first two weeks Faith had been there, Heather had watched the drunken crowd getting a little rough with the new waitress. Heather was about ready to pull out the bat when she watched a big hefty man slam Faith against the wall, making advancements on the poor girl.
Stopping in her tracks, Heather watch the man who had Faith pinned, hit the ground hard, panting furiously. He was clenching at his package and Faith stood above him, staring at him with fury. She had whispered something to the guy that Heather couldn’t hear then she shouted across the bar, so everyone could hear her. ‘Anyone else want a piece of me? I promise I will rock your world.’ She said in a loud sadistic voice. Everyone backed off and left her alone.
Heather was impressed. Not many girls that she had met or hired for that matter could hold their own. Faith was an exception though and from there on out, they had been the best of friends and did almost everything together.
“Come on back.” Faith slid the counter up and went behind the bar, putting her tray on the small table under the counter. This was the funniest part of her job. It had taken her a year to be able to work behind the bar tending drinks. Heather had sent Rachel on to the floor to replace Faith. She spun a bottle Faith’s way and Faith caught it with grace. Heather winked at her. “Shot” was all she said.
Faith started making drinks. Pussycat Dolls blared on the speakers. Faith danced to the music, getting a feel for the bars crowd this evening, tossing drinks out left and right. The nightclub was bumping tonight, good music blaring out in the crowded room. This was going to be a good money night. She bumped into Heather and they smiled at each other.
“Ready to get this party started.” Heather asked with a wicked smile. Faith returned a smile of her own giving a wink.
“Let’s do this.”
By four o’clock, the bar was cleared out and Faith was locking the back door. They had made over three hundred dollars in tips tonight. This was one of her good nights. Moreover, her and Heather had the bar crowd in such a drunken frenzy, they were practically throwing money at then without buying a drinks. It paid to be two out going crazy girls.
She headed over to her Ford Explore, Eddie Bauer edition. Waving good-bye to Heather as she was pulling out of the parking lot. Faith pulled out a cigarette and lit it, taking a deep drag and letting it out slowly. The early morning breeze was cool on her face. She found herself reflecting over the night and decided it had been a good night over all, but she was glad it was over though.
She had the next few days off and was going to spend them relaxing. She inhaled another deep drag and tilted her head back, looking up at the starless sky. She let the smoke out gradually. It had been over two months since she had last heard from her older sister. She usually called once a month to see how things were going in Faith’s life. She hoped to god that her sister was okay.
They had purposely parted ways at a young age to better their chances of survival. Faith was sixteen at the time. Now she was twenty-two and her life had been quite peaceful for six years, she was starting to doubt that the Changelings were looking for her.
She tossed her cigarette and searched for her car keys in her purse. Maybe they gave up hope. She thought to herself, finding her keys. She was about to push her unlock button on her key ring when a wolf’s cry broke through the night’s silence. A startled cry erupted from Faith’s lips as she dropped her keys. She spun around searching the deserted parking lot. It was empty, but she knew something was out there, watching her from the darkness of the night. She could feel eyes on her. God, no! How did they find me?
Something large jumped on to the top of her car. She turned around to see a Changeling. She backed away as four more appeared in the front and back of her vehicle. Her fear was coursing over her body. Fuck, my gun is in the car and there is no way I’ll be able to get it with out losing my throat. She felt despair rise over her. She was going to die tonight and she could do about it.
The gray wolf on her car looked like he was laughing at her. With a growl, he started to transform into his human form right before her eyes. It looked like it was painful, bones cracking while limbs transformed. His face stretched and shrank into an oval shape. His eyes were still a blood red staring deep into hers.
Now, before her was a young looking man with silvery blond hair and tone manly body. He was smiling at her wickedly. It didn’t even register in her mind that he was completely naked. All she could comprehend was that she was going to die tonight.
“Good evening Faith.” The man said in a deep deadly voice, sending shivers of fear coursing through her tense body. “Do you realize how hard you are to track down? You stayed hidden well, but we got you now. Hatred will be so happy.” He jumped down off her car to stand in front of her. She backed up a few steps to keep a reasonable distance between them. “I’ll bring him your pretty little head, so he can rest assured that both sister’s are dead.”
Pain and shock twisted at her gut and she felt the vile bile rise in her throat, making her want to puke at his feet. He had just said, ‘both sister’s’. Did that mean they had killed Claire? Tears brimmed her hazel eyes, but she fought them back. Damn mutts. They all need to be extinct. She thought with a sneer on her face. She weighed her chances of escape. There was no chance in hell she was going to make it the car. Her keys were on the ground behind him, so there was no way she could make it back into the club. What was a girl to do?
“Let’s do this.” The man stated and transformed back into wolf form. She looked around frantically for a weapon and saw nothing. Oh god, I’m going to die. She panicked as she watched the dogs prowling toward her. She had no choice but to turn and run.
She spun around and ran smack into something solid or someone. She had no time to see what it was because she was thrust to the side and landed on the pavement on hands and knees. She heard a breaking sound and a yelp. Then one of the wolves lay next to her, dead still.
She let out a screech and rolled away from the animal. She turned to the commotion to see a tall dark figure fighting with the Changelings. She stared in awe as the man or what seemed to be a man, grabbed another wolf with unbelievable speed and strength ripping the dogs heart clean out of it’s chest. The leader pulled back and growled, menacingly at the man. The Changelings turned and retreated into the night.
Faith watched the dark figure, with curious fear. He walked over to her car and pick up her keys. He turned to face her and her breath caught in her throat. The man was stunning. He was a big man, with broad shoulders, standing well over six and a half feet tall. He had dark blue eyes that were so intense next to his tan skin and long straight black hair that was pulled back in a red ribbon. He wore a black tank top that spread tight across his chest and stomach. It did a good amount of justice to his tone arms. His biceps had to be the same size as her calves.
He wore black leather pants that hugged every muscle in his legs and thighs, fitting snuggly over his behind making her mouth water. On his feet were huge biker boots that looked like they could do some serious damage. This man emitted a presence of pure power and obedience. If he said kneel, heaven forbid you fell to your knees in worship. He was not one to be disobeyed.
He was a god in disguise as a human and if he wasn’t a god, he most defiantly made a god envious. She felt a molten of desire light her body on fire and wetness spread between her legs. This man should have a label that stated, ‘Dangerous, deadly, and very illegal.’ This man could get her into a lot of trouble very quick and knowing herself so well she wouldn’t be able to contain herself, but to jump in headfirst.
What is wrong with you? She screamed at herself, silently. She had only been with one guy two years ago and he had torn her heart to shreds about as badly as if a Changeling had gotten to it. She swore she would never fall into another man’s charms or looks and she was doing pretty well until now. Her body was responding to this man in a way that she had never experienced in her life. It scared the hell out of her.
He held his hand out to her and stared at it as if she was a deer caught in headlights. His hand was almost twice the size of hers. She swallowed and looked up. Making eye contact with him and a jolt of pure lust shot through her like lighting. When the feel faded, but not the pounding of her heart she realized how amused this man was. His eyes told her that he knew exactly what kind of reaction she was having from the sight of him. His lips were curved wickedly. Those amazing blue eyes danced laughingly at her. How dare him, that arrogant bastard. She fumed.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

He watched with a knowing interest as her sparkling hazel eyes went from dreamy to fiery anger. He tried very hard not to laugh at her reaction. He had not been expecting a gorgeous, young woman when he was searching for her.
She looked nothing like her sister. Not saying her sister was not beautiful, because she was. Faith was a completely different kind of beautiful though. She was stunning with long black hair that had a blue tint to it. Penetrating hazel eyes, almost looked green and full luscious lips that begged for his attention.
She had a voluptuous body, with big perky breasts. He already knew that they would fit perfectly in his hands. The black tank top fit the curves like a second skin. She wasn’t skin and bones; she had an athletic body that curved in ways that made him painfully hard.
He had never reacted to a human the way he was reacting to this women sitting in front of him. Lust was flowing through his body in overwhelming waves. He tried to shake it as he watched her rise to her feet without his help. She held her head at an angle that stated defiance. Stubborn women always needed a good lesson in obedience.
“We need to leave here now.” He commanded in a deep husky voice that dipped with the promise of hot wild raw sex. A shiver went up her spine, but she ignored it. She slammed her wall up that she had built after Joe, her ex-boyfriend, had destroyed her.
“I am not going anywhere with you, until you tell me who the fuck you are and what the fuck is going on!” He watched her as a wicked smile touched his lips briefly, then was gone.
“If you get in your car now, maybe I’ll oblige your request, but not out here, not when we can be attacked again.”
“How do I know you’re not out to get me too?” She spat out. He grabbed her by the arm before she even saw him move. He pulled her flush against his body so she could feel every hard ridge. She gasped as she felt his breath touch her ear. A shutter raked her as his scent of pure male filled her nostrils. She heard him chuckle softly.
“You don’t. But I’m not out to get you like you think, kitten.” He grounded his erection against her thigh lightly to prove his point. He let her go before she could pull away from him. “Now get in the damn car and drive.” He growled, his patience starting to run thin. His eyes were hard as he stared at her. She felt fear grip her. This man was powerful and could break her with a twist of his wrist. He pushed her toward her car. She stumbled, then quickly got her footing and cleared her head.
“You’re a bastard and I don’t like you very much.” She snapped, Opening her car door. She heard a deep chuckle behind her as she slid into the driver’s seat. She turned on her car, locking the doors and intending on leaving this man in the deserted parking lot. “Try to overpower me.” She muttered.
Suddenly this dark dangerous man was sitting in her passenger seat next to her. She let out a startled cry and stared at him in fearful amazement. He gave her a sultry look and shrugged his shoulders innocently. She could have sworn she had locked her doors and how did he get from the driver’s side to sit in the passenger seat that fast. She hadn’t even put the car in drive yet.
“I don’t know how you just did that, but I’m scared out of my mind of you, almost as much as those Changelings.” She admitted, pulling out onto the street. “So where are you taking me anyway?”
“Not your place. They most likely will be waiting for you. There is a club downtown. No one knows of it. Its down at the docks, that’s where we need to go.” He stated, watching her closely. She was starting to feel a little closed in. Her vehicle has a lot of room in it, but with him sitting next to her, it was starting to seem a little too small for her liking. She kept both her hands on the steering wheel, her eyes watching the road. Trying to ignore his presence, this was impossible. This man had an aura around him that invaded all her senses.
“Why a club?” She asked trying to distract herself.
“Because that’s where my brothers are and we’re going to need all the help we can get.” He answered nonchalantly, his voice draping over her like hot silk. Well, that didn’t work. She thought bitterly.
“I want to know how you were able to fight those Changelings with your bare hands. How can you move as fast as you do? Where the hell did you come from? And why do you want to help me?” She watched him out of the corner of her eye. A seductive smile spread on his full lips making her heart skip a beat then sped up.
“Which question would you like me to answer first?” She flashed him an irritated look and rolled her eyes.
“Just answer them. I don’t care in what order or how you answer it, just give me an answer.” He stretched out in the passenger seat, his muscles bunching under his clothes. Her mouth going dry and her breath coming out slightly ragged.
“Let’s see here.” He seemed to be pondering her questions as if it was some kind of test. “I came from my mansion on the west side of town. I want to help you, because it looks like you could use a little and I’m not human.” He echoed what had been racing through her mind since she met him. She swallowed hard, afraid to ask her next question, but she had to know.
“Then what exactly are you?”
“I’m a Vampire.” He answered as if it was no big problem.
“Stop messing with me and be serious.” She retorted, not in the mood to play games with him.
“I’m not messing with you… yet.” He purred. “And I am being serious. My name is Sin and I’m the Vampire Lord.”
Sin. She smiled to herself. That fit him. He was definitely sin with a body like that, how could he not be.
“I could show you what I could do with my body if you like, kitten.” She turned to stare at him, wide eyed. It was almost as if he had gotten into her mind and plucked the though right out of it. “I did, kitten. You’re practically screaming it at me.”
“Stop that! You’re freaking me out.” She snapped.
“You might want to drive on your side of the road, before you hit this semi.” He was calm and it made her look back to the road. She moved the car to the left side barely missing the truck.
“You’re not kidding are you?” She said in disbelief. He leaned over to her so she could feel his breath on her neck. His lips grazed it sending chills of pleasure down her spine, and then she felt sharp fangs drag along her flesh. She yelped and moved her body away from him.
Oh god, he’s seriously a vampire. What did I do to deserve such a life?
I told you. Consider yourself lucky. At least you know we exist and you don’t have to live in the dark. It echoed through out her mind. It was definitely his seductive voice, but she swore he hadn’t even opened that sinful mouth of his. I didn’t. I can communicate telepathically.
“Stop that right this instant. Jesus Christ, you’re out to give me a damn heart attack.” She yelled at him. She didn’t mean too, but he was overpowering her once again from all angles and she didn’t like it. He chuckled getting a kick out of the way she was responding to this.
“I’m sorry, but you believe me now don’t you?” He asked confidently.
“God damn you! Yes! So stop!”
“You like taking God’s name in vain don’t you, kitten?” He asked.
“There is no God in my book.” She was getting extremely irritated with the smugness in his voice. He knew he was getting to her, which gave him the upper hand on her.
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that, kitten.”
“Why do you keep calling me that?”
“What? Kitten?” He asked innocently. She chanced a look at him and he had a knowing smile on his handsome face. She scowled at him.
“Yes.”
“Because you are a kitten. You try to play a big bad Lioness, but you’re only a little kitty.”
“I am not so stop calling me that!”
“Whatever you say,” She was speechless that he actually listened to her. Maybe they would get along okay. “Kitten.” Or not, she thought with a sigh of frustration, her hands tightening on the steering wheel.
What an egotistical pigheaded son of a bitch.
“Thank you. I’ve been called worst. Now pull over in front of this warehouse.” She did so and cut the engine. They exited the vehicle and he waited for her to join him on the sidewalk.
“Sin?” She said timidly. He looked at her surprised at the soft inquiring look in her eyes.
“Yes, kitten.”
“Did they… you know…” She stumbled over the words, not wanting to say it aloud.
“Yes, kitten. They did kill your sister.” He said softly. She stared at him with wide eyes. They slowly started to get glossy and he knew that she was going to cry. She chocked back a sob and the tears spilled over, falling down her cheeks. She looked so young and fragile and his heart went out to her. He scooped her up into his big powerful arms and held her tightly. The dam broke and heart-wrenching sobs erupted from her body. She cried uncontrollably as he rained light comforting kisses over the top of her black hair. He felt her pain raking through her body and he wished with so much of his heart that he could take it away.
“She was all I had. Now I have nothing.” She chocked out.
“I know kitten, I’m so sorry. I promise on my life that I will protect you from them and I will avenge your sister’s death.” He whispered softly into her ear.
“Why are you being so nice to me?”
“Because I feel for you kitten. I know how it feels to lose someone you care about.” She pushed away from him and walked to the front of her car. She needed to be alone for a minute to think, because he was too overbearing that she was starting to believe him.
She stood there sniffling and trying to harden her heart. Right now was not the time for her to be weak. She needed to be strong for her sister. She straightened her back and tilted her head up. She would be strong and she would fight until the end. This was her battle and no one else. She made her way back over to Sin avoiding eye contact.
“Are you ready?” He asked as if nothing had just accrued between them. She was grateful for that. They made their way around the back of the warehouse. There were no lights so it was almost pitch black. As they got to the back, she noticed a huge steel door. Sin muttered in a language she didn’t understand and had never heard before. The door slid open to his command. He moved forward and before she realized it, she had grabbed a hold of his arm. He looked down at her reassuringly.
“This is a vampire coven, isn’t it?” He looked surprised for a split second, then it was gone and his face remained emotionless. She was smarter then he had thought. He didn’t have to say anything she already knew the answer. “Well, let’s get this over with.” She said taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly.
The place was crowded and she had a suspicious that most of the people there were vampires. The music blared out of the speakers to the familiar beat of Slipknot. This was no surprise to her they listened to rock music.
At least they have good taste in music. She thought. Everyone seemed to be dressed in the New Orleans gothic trend. When the vampires noticed that Sin had walked into the club they all stopped to watch curiously. It had been quite a while since Sin had been to the club. He hadn’t had a valid reason to use his meeting room before this.
Faith kept Sin’s back in her view, so she wouldn't be swept up in the crowd. She had let go of his arm as soon as they entered the club. She didn’t look at anyone wanting to avoid eye contact as much as possible. They were making their way to the back of the club when a petite woman stopped in front of Sin. Her hair was a dark red and her eyes a blazing blue. She was about five feet three inches, an inch smaller then Faith. She wore a teddy and fishnet stockings with a black sarong around her tiny waist. She was gorgeous and she was rubbing her whole body against Sin like a bitch in heat. Faith’s gut clenched in jealousy and her fingers tightened into fists.
“Hey honey, who’s the human?” She turned to glare a Faith, as her voice dripped of sexual need. Faith was sure she was going to be sick.
“I’m not in the mood Angel.” He meant it as a warning but she didn’t seem to notice. He moved around her and went to continue on his way. Angel grabbed Faith’s arm with bruising force as Faith went to walk by.
“He’s mine human so tread lightly.” Angel growled. Sin was by Faith’s side about ready to tell Angel off when Faith held up her hand to silence him.
“I can handle this.” She pulled her arm free of Angel’s grasp and glared at her. She turned as if she was going to walk away, then balled her hand and spun around laying her fist right into Angel’s pretty face. Angel’s head snapped to the side and she stumbled a little off balance. When she looked back up at Faith, her eyes were a blazing red.
“That hurt you wench.” She raged.
“Well maybe next time you’ll think twice before you lay your petty hands on me.” With that said and done, Faith walked off. Sin smiled with pride and followed her. He led Faith to the back stairs where a curtain was blocking the entrance to the back room.
“Good Evening, my lord.” A woman said, pulling the curtain aside. They entered into the dark room. There was a big circular table in the middle of the room occupied by seven big, dark, deadly, handsome men. She was convinced that she had died and gone to heaven, because no girl was so lucky to be in the same room with men as delicious as they were. They were drop dead gorgeous and pulled straight out of her hottest wet dream. Everyone burst into laughter and she almost melted in embarrassment. A blush spread across her cheeks.
“I’ll take it you guys can read my mind too?” She asked already knowing the answer. They all nodded.
