Katy awoke from a restless sleep to be greeted by the blinding light of the sun in her window. Grouchily she rolled out of her bed and shuffled off to the bathroom. She yawned as she entered her bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror.
She wasn’t looking to good at the moment. Her raven black hair was ball of candyfloss on top of her head, her eyes were still half closed and her face was bright pink.
“Hate mornings,” She muttered at her reflection as she washed her face in the cold tap water.
Half an hour later she emerged from the bathroom looking visibly better. Her shoulder length raven hair was now neatly brushed and her face was glowing in a newly washed way.
“I wonder how my wounded guest is doing,” She pondered as she wandered off in search of something to satisfy her growing hunger.
As she turned in into the living room she noticed the sofa was empty, with a blood patch on left hand side to prove the man wasn’t a dream.
“Must have left,” Katy said to herself as she rummaged through her cupboards.
Katy placed her empty bowl in the sink and shuffled back into her bedroom. She was already late for her first day back to college, which was pretty bad. But Katy was naturally lazy and was always late so she knew how to deal with it.
Reaching her wardrobe she opened the door quickly and found that inside everything wasn’t quite right.
The man from last night was huddled in the back with the blanket wrapped around his slim shoulders.
“May I ask what you are doing in my wardrobe? Although it is fittingly sized, it isn’t the best place to be,”
The man hissed in response,
“Are you from around here, because here we speak English we don’t hiss,” she said her hands on her hips as she watched the man shrink further into the wardrobe.
“Please come out I need to get my clothes,”
The man looked up at her with piercing blue eyes and nodded slowly.
“Ok, but can you shut the curtains.” He said in a soft musical voice.
“Erm, ok,” She moved off quickly to shut the curtains eager to get to her clothes.
When the curtains were shut the man slowly removed him self from the cupboard.
Katy looked u at him and found he was actually quite tall and towered over her small 5ft 2 frame. His silver hair framed his slim pale face and his eyes stared straight back at her. Her eyes moved down to his shoulder and looked at the blood soaked bandage with concern.
“Let me see how your wound is doing,” the man did not reply but continued looking at her.
Katy timidly stepped forward feeling her face slowly redden under his piercing gaze.
She reached up two arms and slowly undid the bandage.
She stood back shocked when she saw what was revealed. With a shaky finger she traced the bit where there should have been a deep wound. But there was nothing there, not even a scar. It seemed to be that the wound had healed overnight.
“How?” She asked looking up at the man who had gotten closer.
The man again did not reply but touched her face with his hand. Katy stiffened underneath his touch. But slowly relaxed when he didn’t do anything
“Please answer me, I looked after you last night, cleaned your wound. The next morning I find you in my wardrobe and your wound is gone. I need explanations. Preferably now.”
“My name is Harland, I…” He stopped suddenly his eyes narrowing. He turned his head and sniffed the air like a dog would.
“They found me.” He whispered.
“Who...” She was cut short when Harland pulled her even closer so that her head was resting on his chest. She panicked slightly trying to wiggle free.
“Let go of me.” She tried to scream her voice muffled into his chest.
“Be quiet,” He hissed into her ear.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door.
“Don’t make a sound,” He whispered, as he backed toward the end of the room with her in his arms.
The knocking continued getting louder and louder. A few minutes had passed and the knocking stopped only to be replaced by a loud banging which resulted in a loud splintering sound due to the door breaking to let the strangers on the other side in.
“He’s in here with her,” A mans voice said over the sound of loud footsteps coming towards the bedroom.
Katy stood shaking in Harland’s arms who had a hand on her mouth to stop her from screaming or shouting.
She felt his head move closer to her ears and hot breath touch her ear lobe.
“I’m sorry,” those were the last words she heard as she felt herself fall into darkness.
once again, please let me know what you think.
