“Kitten?” Her father came up behind her. “Who is this?”
“Dad..oh..” She absently smoothed her dress. Kitten had to wonder if Rami was right about her father not thinking anything about her new outer appearance. “This is Rami..my friend. He is joining the Caravan with us. Rami..This is my dad, Leon Gyreshon.”
“Mr. Gyreshon.” Rami nodded to him as he extended his hand. “Pleasure to meet you.”
The handsome, dark haired youth had manners? Leon pondered the revelation of his daughter actually calling someone a friend for a moment. The smile that grew on his lips let them see that he was happy about such a thing.
“Nice to meet you, son.” Leon shook his hand. “Glad to have you on our trip.”
“So dad..where are we going next?” Kitten shifted slightly.
“Riyadh.” Leon turned. “I figured that we could all use a bit of a break.”
“Cool. I have been wanting to see it.” Kitten glanced at Rami. “Have you ever been to Riyadh?”
“Once or twice but..I imagine it will be like a new experience to see it again.” Rami answered.
“Well, you two have fun and you behave.” He playfully hugged his daughter. “We will leave tomorrow so be sure and be ready.” Leon kissed her forehead before walking off.
“I told you that he wouldn’t say anything.”
“It seems you were right, although..”Rami grinned. “I never questioned you to begin with.”
“Rami,” Laughing, Kitten shook her head. “You’re silly.”
“Hey..I have another question.” She motioned him to follow her as she started walking. “Is there a time limit on this wish thing?” She made sure no one else was around before asking, of course.
“Not really.” He caught up to her and started walking beside her. “Why? Have you thought about something, maybe?”
“Maybe...just a little. I’m still not sure if it would be okay to wish it though.”
“What is it? Maybe I can help.”
“This isn’t a wish, yet..okay? It’s just a discussion.” She wanted to make it clear so that he didn’t say granted to a half thought wish.
“Alright.” Rami pulled her aside towards a couple of boulders. Brushing one off, he smiled. “Have a seat?”
“Thank you very much.” Kitten turned, playfully nudging him. “You have to sit down too.”
“Of course.” Sitting across from her, he nodded. “What is it you want to ask?”
“Has anyone ever wished that you..would always be there with them? Or even asked you if you wanted that?” Kitten shifted slightly. “Kind of like a faithful, um..not a servant but..well I guess kind of like one but with a whole bunch more freedoms. Using your abilities and special gifts to help said person throughout their lives.”
“Ahh..no, I don’t think I have ever heard that wish. I have never been asked such, either.”
“So..would you ..want to do that? Over the past few hours, I have found it hard to not have you here with me.” She hid the red in her cheeks. “You make me feel..wanted.”
“I think I understand..A kind of..permanent Genie. Someone to be there..help you out with their gifts and ..be your friend, right? I don’t see where I would have complaints about such a thing. Although that might make the fact that you have two wishes left, useless. It is a very wise and..smart loophole that you seem to have found.” Rami liked the idea.
It was a form of freedom that he hadn’t ever thought about. It also gave her all the wished she could ever want from him. And it gave him her company, which he was growing to like more and more.
“Yeah...kind of. If it doesn’t seem like a bad wish or anything.” Kitten looked up at him. “But I wouldn’t want to do it if you didn’t really want to be around me like that all the time.”
“As I see it, That would be a rare pleasure that a genie rarely ever gets to have in their life.” He couldn’t help but smile. “So is it a wish?”
“Yeah...I think so. It’s an official wish.” Kitten chuckled.
“Granted.” He let a snap of his fingers come.
The world around them stood still. Everything but her and him stood perfectly still. Kitten gasped, almost falling. The flying carpet from earlier caught her again. Rami glanced between her and his wrists. The bracers with the symbol on them fell to the ground and the symbol on the amulet faded into the red, leaving just the ruby.
“Rami..what’s happening?” Kitten grabbed on to the carpet as it rose a little higher. “Did I make a bad wish?”
“Not at all. My enslavement to the amulet is broken. And now I am..your companion, just as you wished.” He stepped closer to her. “In a moment, things will move again.” he extended his hand to her. “Help you down?”
“Why did things stop moving?” She scooted closer to the edge of the carpet and grabbed his hand. “It’s like time is standing still.”
Kitten’s small gasp was heard again as he lifted her from the carpet. She was against him and his arms were around her. He glanced down, not minding the closeness. The explanation was easy enough but would she believe it?
“In so wishing that I was your companion, you have also become mine thus..it changed you, slightly. Genie’s do not age. It would be hard to have a friend and companion that would grow old and die on you.” He touched her cheek with his hand. His fingers caressed the reddening buds, gently. “I guess that was a small detail that I didn’t think about.”
“You mean..me..I..won’t change, ever?”
“No..I am sorry if you are mad about it. I honestly didn’t think about that. I didn’t think it would effect you too. I thought it was only me.”
“I’m not mad..” Kitten’s hands were at his sides. “But..It might be hard to explain to my father if I never get older.”
“Little magic, which I am free to use how I want now, and people will see you as older.” He smiled. “Simple fix, right?”
“Heh...yeah.” Kitten smiled. “Simple..and still, some how, this seems unbelievable.”
“But it is real.” The things around them started to shift. The carpet disappeared once again. Time was moving again. “And that took a moment longer than I thought it would.” Rami chuckled.
“It’s moving again.” Kitten pulled away, smiling. “So...um you aren’t a Genie anymore because of that wish?”
“I’m still a Genie but I am more like a Jin now.”
“A Jin?” Kitten looked confused again.
“A free Genie that is able to use powers, grant wishes and serve whom ever he or she wishes at his or her own desire and will. You broke the spell that the goddess put on me with that wish. For that, I am grateful.”
“I like your smile, Rami. When you’re happy, it really makes you shine.” Kitten sat back down on the smooth rock as she spoke. “Um..also you said Free..does that mean you are staying here, with me..and the whole companion thing, willingly?”
“I said Kind of like one. And yes, I am here willingly, but the wish has made me your companion and you mine. Lets just say you will have a hard time getting rid of me now.” Rami’s laugh was soft.
“Like I would want to do that?” Kitten smiled still. “Anyways, what now?”
“We live..We have fun and we help each other.”
“I like that answer.” Hopping to her feet, she nodded. “Lets go exploring in the cave.”
“Right beside you.” He came up beside her. “And you do know that we can go anywhere you want. We don’t have to necessarily stay here.”
“What about my dad and if I disappear on him? He would wonder.”
“Remember...Time is a relative thing.”
She gasped, being scooped up by the carpet once again. He chuckled, helping her sit up as they rose higher and higher into the sky. Kitten laughed, leaning against him. She couldn’t remember when she had smiled so much before.

“Rami, look!” Kitten’s fear of flying seemed to fade away. She leaned over, watching the land beneath them. “Where are we?”
“Somewhere over China, I think.” He joined her in looking over the side. “I haven’t traveled everywhere but yeah, I think this is China.”
“I always wanted to come here, well here, Japan..and just everywhere.”
“Want to land...look around, maybe get some things if you want them?” Rami asked.
“Could we?” This was beyond anything she could have wished. This feeling inside, it was great. She liked feeling this way. She felt...free. “Oh but..I don’t have any money to buy anything.”
“You forget, Kitten.” He kissed her nose tip, lightly. “You are with me.”
“Rami..”Blushing, she looked away. “What do you mean?”
“This..” He wrapped his arm around her and opened his hand. A hand full of Chinese coins and money had appeared. “Remember? I’m here to help and see to your happiness.”
“Wow...oh wow.” looking at a coin, she smiled. “But..what about you? I want you to be happy.”
“I think we help each other in that aspect.” He touched her hand and a coin purse appeared, with the money inside it. “Now...shall we go see what trouble we can get into?”
“Definitely.”
“To the merchants street then.” Rami couldn’t remember the last time he honestly wanted to make someone smile like wanted to with her. “Here we go.”
“What?” Kitten blinked. “We are..” Her feet were on the ground? “Whoa...how.” She blushed. “Oh yeah. It’s hard to imagine sometimes, still.”
“And a little outfit change.”
“Rami?” Kitten laughed. “You look very handsome.”
“And you look beautiful in your Traditional Cheongsam.”
“Cheongsam..” Kitten touched the silk dress that covered her. It fit her petite form beautifully. “Black and purple..These are my favorite colors. Oh my gosh,,this is beautiful.”
“I didn’t think you would mind the colors.” He chuckled and grasped her arm for escort. “And there is just something about blonde hair and chopsticks in a bun that makes them stand out even more.”
“My hair..” Feeling with her free hand, she blushed. “Rami..” Kitten laughed. “You’re not seeing anything when you do that, are you?”
“Change outfits? No, I am not. That is a personal thing that I would never ever intrude upon.” He answered.
“I have to say..you are spoiling me. I..never thought I could look like this for one and I mean look at where I am. You brought me to China. You gave me money and..you are amazing, Rami.” Kitten looked up at him. “I am glad I get to share this with you.”
“You helped me. I couldn’t have done any of this without you and your very unique wish.” He led her from the side street, onto the main. “Ah, and here we are. The Chinese merchant way. Much has changed since I last saw it.”
“When did you last see it?”
“About a hundred years ago.” He whispered. “Much more development has come.” Rami paused. “Oh...something smells..wonderful.”
“Food..Oh..That smells really good. Hey..want to go eat?”
“I feel like I haven’t eaten in..a hundred years.”
“Silly.” Laughing, Kitten pulled him towards the restaurant. “Lets go.”
“As you wish.” He said while chuckling.
“Oh my gosh.” Kitten stopped in front of the restaurant. “Smell that..that smells so much better than camp food.”
“Lets go inside do more than smell.” Rami took her hand in his. “Ready?”
“I can’t read Chinese to order anything, you know.”
“Don’t worry about it.”
He pulled her along with him. Rami stopped, bowing to one of the women. To Kitten’s and the Chinese woman’s surprise, he began speaking in Chinese.
“Rami?” Kitten blinked.
“Here to help, remember?” He smiled charmingly as he now did the tugging. “She is showing us to our table.”
“I am going to be really spoiled by the time this day is over, I think.” Kitten chuckled.
“I think that your thinking is correct.” Rami nodded to the woman before them. “Your seat..” He motioned to the floor cushion.
“Oh yeah..they don’t sit in chairs, normally.” Kitten took his hand, kneeling down to the cushion. “I guess I will let you order for us too.”
“I’ll order only beef and pork. I know you don’t like fish.” He said as he knelt down to his cushion, across from her.
“You...You sensed my thoughts again, didn’t you?” Kitten smiled.
This was going to be interesting. And it was already better than eating back at the camp, although, her father would never believe this if she told him
