“What are you talking about!? Are you crazy!?”
Serenity’s mother glared at both her and a cringing Silvan. This was not exactly what they wanted to be listening to after being lost in a maze for hours like they were.
“Mother please Listen!”
“Don’t you Listen me! I am not even remotely finished! I do not care if you are queen! What If you’re Pregnant?! I know you two have been doing you know what. You can’t tell me you haven’t been.”
Serenity’s face flushed a deep crimson. She had to look away quickly. Her mother was on an apparent role. Silvan ahemd slightly. That was a touch personal. He didn’t feel it necessary to bring up such things in such a heated debate.
“Something to say Silvan?” Sarai placed her hands on her hips. She had that ‘don’t you dare mess with me’ look on her face right now.
Silvan cleared his throat and nodded. He had to say something before Serenity’s butt got chewed off so much that she slid right out of her chair. “I think that’s a tad personal Lady Sarai. We should perhaps Not bring up THAT topic.”
“That topic is important though my new son in law. What if She is pregnant hmm? She can’t go about risking her life and leaving and travelling... And... And just leaving! Neither can you! You have a responsibility as King of this land now!” Sarai was shouting at the top of her lungs. She was not very happy about the suggestion that Silvan and Serenity were going to leave and travel to the middle lands. She’d heard from her husband Kristian that these were dangerous lands and held greater dangers than even he cared to describe. There was no way she wanted her daughter going, or even Silvan.
“Honey please.” Kristian tried to intervene. “They have a responsibility to get the staff and if they were told it was taken by the people of chaos than they have to retrieve it before something bad happens.”
“Don’t You talk to ME about duty Kristian Renwall!! You left me and Serenity alone for HOW many years?! You just sit back and hush. I am not letting them go traipsing off into some unknown danger!”
Kristian sunk into his chair and sighed. There was no talking to this woman right now. Tamin didn’t even attempt to voice his opinion on the subject. Sarai was down right scary. Silvan sunk back behind Serenity. He was starting to feel sorry for his wife for a moment. She had to grow up with this woman’s temper.
“Mother!” Serenity balled her fists up and sat up straight. “ Will you please stop and listen!”
“Don’t you get yourself excited and start yelling at me young lady. I bent you over my knee before. Do not think I won’t do it now. Just because you’re married does not give you the right to disrespect me. I have already said the answer to this. You two are not going. You can send some soldiers or a spy or something to go investigate first. Than send trained troops to go and retrieve it. That is that. I will not hear anything else on this matter. Oh and You ,” Sarai pointed at her daughter. Serenity ackd and almost fell backwards into Silvan’s arms. ”You will need to go see one of the healers or a doctor or something because I am for damned sure not gonna let you do anything if you are pregnant.”
Everyone in the room was silenced by this raging fit of Sarai’s. Serenity stood took a deep breath... She was trying to calm her self. How could her mother still treat her like this?! She was not a child anymore. She had duties to her husband and to a kingdom now! Silvan moved beside her and took her hand in his.
“Come on love. I think your mother just needs to calm down a bit.” Silvan started to pull her off slowly but stopped to glance at a seething Sarai. She was looking right at him. “Okay a lot bit... So let's go get something to drink... And... I’ll take you to the healers..” He looked at Sarai when he said this. “So they can see if she is pregnant. Is this okay?”
“Great..” Serenity shook her head and pulled away. “I... I...”
She growled and stormed off. Serenity could hurt her mother right now. Sarai crossed her arms over her chest and nodded to Silvan, whom quickly made his exit with Serenity. He did not care to spend any more time with Sarai than he had to right now.
“How could she!?” Serenity growled and stormed down the hall. Silvan was on her heels. “I mean she acts like I am still five years old or something! And then she wants to sit there and embarrass me by talking about me and you having sex?!” Serenity was trembling in anger right now.
“Love I think her seething..rage can be taken as something of a mother's worry..although I do think it was a bit much. So don’t think I am defending her. I am just saying that she loves you and doesn’t want to see you hurt. Not after everything we have already been through.”
Silvan had to try and be someone’s voice of reason. He couldn’t talk to Sarai. She would bite his head off. He would only get sympathy looks from his father and Kristian so they were no help in this at all.
“Are you seriously going to make me go see a healer?” Serenity looked up at him. “We’ve only been married for what? A couple weeks? Maybe two months at the most.”
“Are you saying you’ve forgotten? Am I that boring a husband hmm?”
“Nooo...” Serenity blushed. “We did take a kind of long honeymoon. It's easy to get lost when I'm with you is all.” Serenity was blushing fiercely. “So I have a good reason.”
“Uh huh.” Silvan chuckled and leaned down kissing her bottom lip gently. “Two months love. Two wonderful short months. I would have made them longer if we hadn’t been being rushed to hurry and come back.”
“And they say it’s the men who forget.” Serenity giggled and wrapped her arms around him. “I guess I have to go see a healer or something though. Mother won’t quit until I do and I know you’re curious if I am now. I can see it in your eyes.”
“Well I can’t say the thought hasn’t crossed my mind.” Silvan traced his hand gently along her cheek. “But yes you should just because your mother won’t shut up if you don’t. We will never be able to go anywhere if you don’t.”
“So you still think we do need to go our selves and find the staff right?” Serenity leaned into his hand. Her eyes were closed. “I think we should. If Veleska was right than you would be the only one besides me that can wield it anyways.”
“Yes love. I do think we need to go but..”
He paused. Silvan did agree with Serenity’s mother on one point. If she was pregnant than he did not want her putting herself in that kind of danger. Serenity pulled from his hand to look up at him. She knew instantly what he was thinking. He hated when she did that to him too.
“Don’t you even start turning into my mother Silvan Demetrious.”
“Love come on. She has a point.” Silvan tried to pull her back close to him. “You can’t go getting into a dangerous spot if you’re pregnant.”
“No!” Serenity pulled away. ”I can’t believe you! How can you sit there and support her after she also treated YOU like a child too. Don’t you think I know what I can and can not handle?” She turned and hmphd. “I am going to go get some tea and something to settle my stomach. You have me all upset now!” She stormed away. She could take on her mother's apparent bitchy behavior in an instant it seemed.
“Oh come on Love!” Silvan grunted and walked after her. “You know I wasn’t lecturing you and I am not siding with her! I was just saying tha...”
Silvan didn’t have time to finish his sentence before he caught her hand in his as she spun around. Serenity was panting and very angry right now.
“You are so lucky I was not trying to hit you right now.”
Serenity jerked her hand away. Silvan sighed and forcibly wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close. She struggled at first and tried to push away. Serenity could not fight him off for long however.
“Serenity I love you. No matter what you may think or no matter how angry your mother has you right now. I just want you safe. I want you protected no matter what. I don’t care if you do slap me or yell. Please Serenity. Just this once lets do what your mother has asked. It will save a lot of heart ache.”
“Fine.” Serenity sighed. “I’m sorry. I really wasn’t trying to hit you when I turned around either.”
“I know love. Your mother had me about ready to swing at a wall or two my self.”
“At least I’m not alone then.” Serenity hugged him now instead of trying to fight him.”I bet my dad and your dad are trying to find an exit them selves right about now too.”
“Most likely.” Silvan chuckled and kissed her lovingly on her lips. “Lets go get your tea and maybe some sweet bread. That always settles your stomach.”
“You know me too well.”
Serenity pulled away slowly. Silvan grinned and took her arm in his.
“I am supposed to know you. You are my wife after all.”
He smiled at that. Silvan could never tire of saying that she was his wife. Serenity shook her head and started walking, pulling him along with her. She never got tired of hearing that she was his wife either. Who would? Silvan was a handsome, caring man who doted on her every chance he could. He spoiled her more to a point. She didn’t mind that much either.
“So do you want me to be pregnant love?” Serenity looked over at him. “Or do you care either way?”
“That’s not fair to ask. You know I want to have a family with you but you also know I can wait as long as you want to Serenity.”
“I know Silvan. I was just asking. I mean you never really do tell me what you clearly want. You always agree with what I want. Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining but sometimes I would just like to cater to you. I want to make you feel as special as you make me feel.”
She stopped and let her arms wrap around him again. They had almost made it to the kitchen at least. Silvan hugged her close and smiled. He swelled up inside with warmth and love for her all over again. He didn’t now how she managed to make him feel this way. She could make him feel like a newlywed husband every day. Their feelings for one another never faltered and they never needed ‘space’ as some couples did. They were happy to just be together.
“My love. My beautiful Serenity. My angel. My heart.” Silvan’s hand cupped her chin in his hand.”Every day that I wake up and find you holding me makes me feel special. I am the luckiest man on this world and in all the others. I have you.”
“You know I knew you’d say that but you know darn good and well that is not what I meant.” Serenity smiled. “I want to know what you want. Not what I want but what you want.”
“Fair enough.” Silvan nodded. “I want to go and get you your tea and bread. Than I want to carry you back to our chambers and make love to you until the dawn and maybe more. Than I want to bathe you and feed you breakfast in bed. After that We can go see the healers and try and sooth your mom’s savage beast of a temper.”
Serenity blushed deeply at hearing all of this. In fact she was left very much speechless. Silvan grinned and picked her up into his arms and swept her away towards the kitchens. He took her silence as a yes and well he’d be stupid to argue.
