(2)Together, my love...
As soon as light came Marin went out in search of his wayward servants. He had gone into a rage when he’d been told that Chiku had come back and taken Ivan with him. He would see to it that they were brought back and punished sufficiently. No more would he be nice and merciful.
It took a full day of searching but finally Marin was able to pick up on their tracks. He followed them until he came to a dead end, a hill. Undaunted, he searched the hill, seeking a new trail. Instead of that he found the almost hidden entrance to a cave. Taking a deep breath he tests the air, getting a hint of them into his senses. The sun had all ready set but Marin wasn’t concerned by this, he didn’t fear Chiku any more then he feared Ivan.
With caution he enters the cave and walks down it, sensing their presence stronger with each step, until he comes to the bend in the cave.
They were effectively hidden behind the bend in the cave and their master knew only that they were there. He didn’t know if they had picked up any weapons, or if they were in any condition to put up a fight. He didn’t know that they had spent the day in each other’s arms and wore nothing this evening. What he does know is that they are in there, he can practically feel their heart beats.
“If you come out now you won’t be punished any further. But if you make me come in and get you I promise that your punishment will be great.”
Ivan huddled against Chiku, shaking with fear. He still held bruises from his beating, even though he had managed to heal a lot. The deeper wounds hadn’t healed quite as well.
“We can’t always be afraid of him, Ivan, we have to fight back at some point. Give me the word and I’ll go after him.”
Chiku plants a light kiss on his cheek. “For you I would brave anything.”
“I don’t want to lose you. What if master kills you when you go after him?”
“What do you think he’ll do if he gets us back? He created you, he knows he can do what ever he wants to with you. But I, on the other hand, mean nothing to him. He will kill me either which way. But I will die happy if know I kept him away. When I killed those people yesterday I felt so alive, Ivan, it was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. And then being with you, I can’t go on living without you.
I can’t go back to that cold castle, I can’t be a slave any more. No matter how much I love you, I cannot be locked up again.”
Ivan looks up at him, really looks at him, and smiles.
“I don’t want to be a prisoner either, Chiku. We attack him together or not at all.”
Together they stand, hand in hand, both smiling as if they were daft. They would see this through together, they would die together if need be. But they would not go back to their master, they wouldn’t return to the castle.
Marin looks up as he hears them approach, he smiles a crooked grin of triumph. He doesn’t have any doubt that he’s won. Both of them would be punished when they returned to the castle. He didn’t even notice the fact that the two of them were naked as they came around the bend of the cave, but what he did notice was the look in their eyes, the determined way they walked.
Marin opened his mouth to speak when they suddenly rushed him. Their hands were still together and they used that, and their momentum, to clothesline their master. It took Marin a moment to retaliate, to realize that they were attacking him, but when he did his face grew distorted with rage.
They paused a moment, remembering that same look on his face when he had beat them. Thunder cracked and hit between them, forcing them to let go of the other. They came back to themselves when their hands slipped away, they didn’t want this, this distance from the other.
Chiku growls and bares his teeth and Ivan gathers the shadows to him, asking for their assistance. He had never before called upon the shadows like this and wasn’t certain if they would answer or not. To his surprise, the shadows answered his cries, moving around him like an angry mob. They were in outrage that someone would dare to attack him.
Chiku and Ivan glance at each other a moment, both smiling, even when the second lightning bolt nearly struck Chiku. They would die together or live together.
“You will not get away with disobeying me twice. Insolence will not be tolerated.”
Marin had no idea what was going on around him, he had lived within his own mind so long that it had never occurred to him that he would be defied. Or that he might lose.
Chiku rushes him, following closely by Ivan and his shadows. The shadows hit Marin first, ramming into his body, through it, chilling him to the bone and weakening his magic. Marin tries one more time to stop them, sending a bolt of lightning straight at Ivan. Ivan’s hair moves with a breeze only for him as the lightning bolt comes closer, closer. It hits Ivan with a bang but instead of being harmed, his hair wraps around the bolt tightly until they become one. Ivan’s hair practically glows from the lightning bolt and he feels stronger than he had.
Marin watched all this in amazement, as did Chiku, but Chiku wasn’t nearly as distracted as Marin was. Taking advantage of the situation, Chiku struck out with a fist and connected with Marin’s face then Ivan ran head first into his stomach. Using the force of his newly found powers to fill Marin’s body with electricity, every part of Marin’s body that Ivan’s hair touches is zapped with the same force as one lightning bolt.
Marin was in pain, and off balance. He tried again to attack them, to use his magic, but the shadows had taken it and he didn’t have enough physical strength left to defend himself. It was then, when Marin was at his weakest, that Chiku bit his throat and tore out a chunk of it. Marin opened his mouth to scream in pain but their wasn’t enough left of his throat to make a sound.
Ivan and Chiku screamed for him. They let out all their frustrations in that scream as they tore into Marin’s body. They didn’t stop until there was little but meat and blood left. Until their was nothing left to identify the man that he had been.
They collapsed on the blood soaked ground, both shaking. They had just destroyed their greatest fear. Marin had held Chiku captive with fear for five years, and Ivan all of his life. It was a relief to suddenly know that they were free.
“We did it, I can’t believe it…”
Ivan says, shaking his head. The shadows converge around him, comforting him. Chiku crawls over to Ivan and takes his hand.
“Together, together we destroyed him. Together we can do anything.”
And without further ado, Chiku kisses Ivan, tasting the blood on him and nearly going mad with the feel of his lips and the blood all around them. Ivan’s arm moves around Chiku’s neck as he lays Ivan back, onto the ground. Chiku rubs his body against Ivan’s, lips still locked, the blood that coats them making them slick.
“I feel free for the first time in my life. What will we do now?”
Ivan asks softly, eyes closed as Chiku licks the blood from his face and neck Chiku had fed enough during the battle that the taste of blood didn’t drive him into bloodlust. It was more for the pleasure of it that he cleaned it off of Ivan’s skin.
“What ever we want to. We can leave here soon, before sunrise, and walk until we can’t walk anymore.”
Ivan’s breathing speeds up as Chiku moves his attention to his chest, licking the blood there.
“Money, what about money. Don’t we require that to travel.”
“Leave that up to me. I’ve saved money through the years, without my vampire master knowing. We need but go to it and it will be ours.”
