Lunchtime
He almost didn\'t go to lunch for fear of seeing her sitting at their table. But hunger got the best of him so he decided to be brave and face the music. As he suspected, she was at their table, peering at a textbook through her glasses, completely ignoring her lunch. \"God I love it when she wears her glasses. She looks so sexy.\" Jason thought as he sat
down.
\"Oh, hey!\" Veronica beamed as she looked up. \"What happened to you yesterday? I thought you were going to call me.\" Jason froze as the thought of his brother entering her room crossed his mind.
\"My, uh, mom needed me to do something, you know...parents, crazy
parents. Yeah. Sorry, bout that.\"
\"It\'s cool. I was just wondering.\" And with that she was once again engulfed in her book. After a couple of minutes of silence and Jason being the only one eating he finally asked \"Aren\'t you going to eat?\"
\"Nah. Alex said I\'m getting kinda fat so I\'m cutting back on what I eat.\"
\"What!? That\'s bullshit!\" Jason yelled. Veronica gave him a scolding look as the noise in the room grew quiet and people looked over at their table. \"I mean\" he continued in a softer voice. \"he\'s an idiot!\"
\"Hey!\" Veronica said in a defensive tone. \"That is my boyfriend you\'re talking about.\"
\"Yeah, well he\'s my brother and you know as well as I do that he\'s always been a jerk. Remember how he used to hide your rabbitts and tell you wolves had eaten them? Well he\'s no different now, just bigger.\"
\"But maybe he\'s right. I have been feeling kinda sloshy lately.\"
\"Get off it Ronnie. You\'re hot and you know it.\" Jason stopped when he saw the surprised look on her face. \"I mean, that\'s what I\'ve heard the guys at gym say. Anyway, you probably feel sloshy, as you put it\" pause to chew food in mouth \"because that bastard made you stop playing sports.\"
\"Well it wasn\'t very lady like.\"
\"Stop making excuses for him!\" sighed Jason. \"Dump him, he\'s a loser. You deserve better.\"
\"Listen Jay, I know he\'s your brother and you\'re not supposed to like him, but I do.\" Veronica said taking off her glasses. \"He\'s changed. Can\'t you understand that?\"
\"I guess so, but you said nothing would change. We don\'t even hang out anymore.\"
\"I\'m sorry. I know I have been a little neglegent of our friendship.\" Suddenly the bell rang. \"Look\" Veronica said while gathering up her books. \"Come by tonight. We\'ll think of something to do this weekend.\"
\"You sure it\'ll be safe?\" Jason asked. \"Don\'t want to step on Mr. Big Shot\'s toes.\"
\"Just be there.\" Veronica said before turning to leave.
\"Yes ma\'am.\" Jason said, getting up to throw his tray.
