~Kitsune’s perspective~
My mind restarted as I felt the warm and constant burn going through my skin and resisted the urge to open my eyes, contenting myself instead to start weakening the collar’s structure. I heard the muffled voice of Dr. Simion Richards talking through glass and water telling the lab techs to make sure the sedative was at levels that would be dangerous to a normal souseiki. Again I resisted the urge to smile, or open my eyes until I felt the workings of the collar significantly less snug than it was previously.
I twitched convincingly, letting my body react to the itch of the constant healing process I was undergoing with the fact that he had me in an acid bathe.
“Reactivate the collar and drain the acid.” I heard him call out as I was beginning to open my eyes. The system was flushed and I began to feel a little groggy due to the sedation effects. My eyes opened just as the greenish acid drained away from my face and I began to feel the burn a bit more pronounced. The feeling of semi-weightlessness that came with being immersed disappeared quickly as the rest of the acid drained away leaving me only slightly scalded from my waist down. I glared out of the container while one of the female lab techs turned off the invisible barrier to set some clothes on w chair within my confined space and leaving before the glass dome lifted. I continued glaring at Simion for moments after before stepping down, drying the excess acid off of my body and putting on the clothes before me.
“Now that you’re clothed, I want to ask you one simple question Neon.” he said with a smirk, “Why didn’t you try to attack Dr. Mark?” I arched an eyebrow at him
“How was I supposed to? And why? It’s not like she’s you.” he chuckled.
“Then why did you try to kill yourself instead of me?” he asked still grinning his psychotic grin.
“You’re not worth it.” I said simply. I wasn’t going to give him the sick satisfaction of being killed by me… besides, Reena would want to do it herself. He chuckled as I shook my head, glancing down at my arm and pulling out the IV there without a second thought.
“I was wondering when effect of your healing would slow enough for you to notice that there, but then, your healing has always been remarkable. I turned my gaze elsewhere and saw the markings on the wall and doorways that gave away the barriers that they had placed. “You are trapped you know.” his voice came again. I nodded with a slight smile.
‘Yeah, right.’

I was knocked out and placed back in my cell to reawaken, I was sure now that Dr. Mark would not be allowed to have the chance to be alone with me anymore… not that it mattered anyway…
I resigned myself to calm down and reach into myself for the one power I didn’t use regularly for fear of my mental health, specifically my telepathy and precognition.
Behind my eyelids, pictures began to form, I moved from one scene to the other trying to find what I was looking for, then paused.
Reena was sitting in on the couch with Anya with two bags on the floor while I tried to place the date. Terry walked in with another bag and a determined look on her face as she asked
“Anything else you think we might need?” Reena glanced down then around, I let my sight wander for a bit. The room was much the same, though with a little less clutter
“The neighbors are going to think we’re hiking right?” Anya asked slowly, turning to face Terry. Terry nodded and Anya smiled while Reena had a far-off look on her face. I took a mental look around the room and saw that there were a few more bags that looked to be carrying hiking gear when Roxanne came in and sighed. “I know I said I wanted to do a hostile take over, but have you really thought this through Reena?” Reena’s eyes went dark for a moment as she glared at Roxanne,
“I just got her back Roxanne. Don’t think I’m ready to lose her again so quickly.” Anya and Terry pulled away from Reena almost imperceptibly away as she stood. “If you think I’m going to leave her for one moment longer than it takes for us to reach there, you’re sadly mistaken.”
“But how would she feel if you were caught too…” Terry asked slowly. “You know I’m gonna help you get her back, but do you really think that rushing into it is gonna be the best way?” Reena whirled on her before taking in a breath and walking out the room…
The scene shifted.
Reena and I were sitting on the balcony in the organization, I racked my mind to remember when this happened… I couldn’t have been more than sixteen as she placed a hand over mine while both of our eyes were focused on the horizon.
“Do you think we’ll ever get out of here?” she asked. I glanced down at my hand for a moment before looking at her face with curiosity
“Don’t we get out for missions?”
“Yeah, but… that’s missions… it means we have to come back.” she looked at me innocently, and I could feel the emotions build within my chest again.
“What is there but the organization?” I asked, confusion emanating through me.
“You really don’t know anything outside of here? You don’t know what it’s like to play on the swings, have a pet, run around with friends and just have fun?” she turned to me, a look of slight pity in her eyes and her voice holding such promise.
“All my friends are down there.” I replied, moving the hand she wasn’t holding to point to the graveyard that lay before us. I hesitated for a bit before turning my hand and squeezing hers and adding “And here…” she gave a little gasp and blushed before asking…
“Are you ever going to answer my question?”
“Which one?” I sighed looking down and wondering briefly how long it would take me to heal if I fell from this height.
“Why you always wear that collar.” my hand instinctively went up to the cold metal and I frowned.
“I have to… they tell me I have to…”
“Why?” I looked up at her and saw the genuine concern for me, though I didn’t understand why.
“It… it’s supposed to stop my powers from rampaging…” she gave me a sad smile
“Then why don’t I need one?” she pointed out “Why didn’t the others need one? Why only you?”
“I… don’t know…”
I came back to myself with a slight sheen of sweat on my forehead. The exertion I felt was strictly from not actively using that power often enough. I steadied my breathing and tried to focus myself yet again. If they were paying attention on the cameras,, they’d simply think I was meditating, which, technically, I was doing…
~Reena’s perspective~
I couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched for a moment, and I seriously began to wonder if I was doing the right thing now. To rush into the organization with no prior plan, to save a girl who could probably find a way out of the organization easier than anyone, save for the fact that if they put that god-forsaken collar on her again she would only have limited use of her power if any at all. I sighed and looked out of the window, reminiscing on the past. On my incessant desire to get out of the organization almost as soon as I got roped in, but couldn’t for the life of me explain the reason I stayed.
‘You stayed for her idiot.’ I gave a dry laugh as I looked around my room. I had no qualms about leaving… but to put them through this horror was something I really couldn’t ask of them… not now, not ever. I sensed rather than heard Anya’s presence on the other side of my door when she stood, hesitating before she knocked
“Reena?” I looked to the door and made my decision… willing the limited knowledge I had gleaned off of Kit over the years, I closed my eyes and focused resolutely on the beach… focused my entire being to move without effort until I felt the crushing darkness and silence that accompanied teleporting from one place to the other and opened my eyes to the scenic beauty that was our beach and smiled to myself…
