A Happily Ever After Ending

Ch. 15 A Happily Ever After Ending

Rose, Jillian, John, Jonas and the whole crowd, including the geese who would not be left alone with the Fonderals, rode into Jubbellard castle on the day of Princess Amelia’s 20th birthday. Everyone was expecting a big show, but they were all sorely disappointed. It was midday, but the Princess still had not arrived. Sander and Lyn both welcomed their son as he rode past the walls. They had been anxiously awaiting their daughter outside. Lyn even had a large frilled umbrella out.
“I have another surprise for you.”
“Don’t tell me you got married.”
“Don’t worry mother. It’s a good one.”
John stepped out of the way to let Rose walk down the way. Jonas used a pinch of magic to make her, at least, appear more like a princess. Her gown fell into a red wave. It trailed to the ground but no dirt dared to touch it. Her hair was, for once, tame as it spun back and braided to a fine twist. Curls skimmed down her face, and her cherry lips were trembling into a smile.
“May I present Princess Amelia. Also known as Rose. You might remember her as our goose girl.”
Both Sander and Lyn’s faces were completely shocked. They had always believed they would be able to spot their daughter if they ever saw her, but they had been totally clueless.
“Hi,” Rose gave a little wave. She looked and felt even more awkward.
“I’ve been waiting for you for so long.” Lyn flung herself into her daughter’s arms. She was shocked for a second before grabbing onto her just a hard. Rose felt like she was going to break the woman in her arms. With the two of them pressed together everyone could see the similarities. If the two had been the same age they would have been mirror images, Lyn light and Rose dark.
King Sander looked to have tears in his eyes. He placed a hand on his son’s shoulder, “I guess it’s you we have to thank for finding your sister.”
“Actually, no. You’d have to thank the wizard Jonas the Wise.” Jonas stepped out of the group of people, not that he could really hide since he was so tall. “Rose’s fiancé.”
“Fiancé,” Lyn pulled away, “but we had so many young men we wanted to introduce you to.”
“What can I say? I’m in love with Jonas.”
“Love?” Lyn tear a little, “you hear that, babe? Out little girl is in love.” Lyn went back to hugging.
There was a lot of hugging that day. There was also a lot of introductions. The two pair of parents needed to meet each other, and Sander wanted Rose to officially meet all of the people in the castle. They were all every shocked to find that their little Rosey was also their princess. And everyone wanted to hear how Esperella had enacted her curse. By the end of the day everyone was ready for bed.
Lyn and Sander insisted on holding the wedding at Jubbellard castle, and Rose insisted on having it within the week. Jonas questioned her motives, and all she would say was that now that she had him she wasn’t letting go.
It was a white wedding draped in the dark wings of the night. For the benefit of Jillian and the rest of the geese who still would not leave. Everyone had a great time, well expect for Princess Victoria who was not allowed to be a bridesmaid even though all of her ladies had been enlisted. There was laughing and rejoicing and gifts.
Along with the normal tradition of everyone giving gifts to the bride and groom, they decided to give to the ones they loved the most.
Rose, John and the rest of their intimate group retire to the Kings private library, “Well we know what Jilly and John want. A cure to her curse.”
Jonas frowned, “I set the spell to break with a kiss, but I can break it manually since that hasn’t worked.”
“How romantic,” Lyn broke in.
It was then that everyone noticed Jillian blushing furiously.
“I–I wanted to wait until I was completely human before we … you know.”
John just looked. “That’s a perfectly normal thing.”
“Well … are you going to break her curse or not, brother?”
“We will in our own time.”
Rose looked a little skeptical and caught Jilly’s eye. The mischievous look passed between the two, and Jilly took a great breath before turning John towards her, standing up on her tip toes and laying one on him. John seemed a little surprised, but Jillian glowed anyway. She shown from the inside out with a great bright light. When it stopped, there was no difference in her except her hair was down instead of her proper hairstyle. John picked her up and twirled her around a few times before giving her his kiss.
“One problem solved.”
“Just a few more to go sweety.” Rose gentle patted his back.
“For my adopted parents, a trip to the harbor of Bargao. I’ve known you always wanted to go, but you never did. Because you could never leave me.” They smiled and she glowed back, all the love of their lives shining at each other.
“And for my newer inlaws. Magic isn’t always a bad thing.” Jonas walked over to Lyn and presented her with a necklace. “It’s a protection ward. It’ll give you a little more spunk and a lot more appetite. I think half the reason you get sick all the time is because you don’t eat enough. Once you do you should feel better in no time.”
“There’s nothing better than having my children here and safe,” Sander broke in.
“Well, we won’t be here for long. I want to travel.” Rose looked at Jonas. And he smiled down at her.
She had always been her desire to see the world, and with Rose by his side, Jonas didn’t think that the world would seem quite as lonely as it had in the past.
