Returning to Normal
Chapter Nineteen
Returning to Normal
Cassandra sat curled up on the couch next to Seth. Her swollen belly was beginning to show. Seth leaned over and gently ran a hand over the bulge. Cassandra yawned and smiled at him. It had been about two weeks since Seth had fought Jon and ‘won’ Cassandra’ back. Seth stood up and walked toward the kitchen, “You want something Cassie?” she shook her head,” No its ok Seth.” She stood up and paced around the living room. Her body was still sore from all the beatings it had been though with Jon. Cassandra walked over to the large sliding door and looked out at the lake behind the house. She remembered falling asleep as he slept on the bank of that lake. Seth walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her swollen belly. She smiled lightly and placed her hands over his. “You want to go for a swim?” he asked opening the sliding door. Cassandra nodded and stepped out into the back yard.
The wind blew her sundress back making her belly seem larger than it truly was. The cool grass felt amazing beneath her feet as she made her way to the lake. Seth smiled seeing Cassandra moving around with a smile on her face. It had been so long that she had been gone. Seth sat on the waters edge and smiled as Cassandra sat down next to him. “I had forgotten how beautiful it was out here.” She says as she sits down. He hands cradling her stomach. She felt the baby move and kick.” Seth what are we going to do?” she ask looking up at him. She was easily six months pregnant and she feared for her baby. Seth looked at her as he slid into the cold water of the lake” what do you mean Cassie?” he asked softly. “My. I mean our baby.” She said softly inching closer to the waters edge. “I’m almost due and I don’t want to loose my baby.” She said softly. “Don’t worry” Seth said softly as he floated on his back. “I’ll take care of it.” Seth swam over and sat on the edge of the bank next to Cassandra. He wrapped his arm around her and pulled her close to him. Her white sundress becoming slightly see-through, she laughed and pushed him away slightly as she stood up. “You’re getting my dress all wet!” Cassandra giggled as she half ran back towards the house Seth following behind her. When he caught up she was almost inside the door. He wrapped his arms around her midsection and smiled.” Why don’t you go shower and change and meet me downstairs for dinner. Alright” he asks softly, kissing her lightly on the neck. Cassandra shivered and smiled. “Sure. Alright.” She says softly tearing herself away from him walking off in the direction of her room.
