Part 18

Author's Note: Apparently I write for a non-curious crowd, which makes it that much harder to try and explain something... maybe I should just skip how she gets out and move straight to the sex... pity though, seeing as I actually have the time line worked out and everything...

Meh, I'll just write what comes to me, and try to work around the apparent lack of interest my readers show... at least the hits keep increasing right

Anyway, read, rate and review

~Kitsune’s perspective~

I didn’t know what she would choose, but I preferred if she kept it as private as possible, seeing as I had my wits about me again, and the fact that she was most obviously curious. I got my answer probably fifteen minutes later when two lab technicians, by their look, came in front of the glass and inputted a code that would knock me out and open the door so they could carry me where ever need be. Thank god they looked strong…

~~~~~~
I woke up on something soft and raised my hand to my head, or at least I would have if I wasn’t strapped down. “Right. I’m the bad person here.” I muttered sarcastically.
“Sorry. I wasn’t sure what kind of state you would wake up in…” she sounded nervous.
“Well considering I told you what to do… and the fact that I knew I was going to be knocked out this time, kinda made it easier for me to handle.” I replied as she came over and undid my straps. I groaned and sat up rubbing my head, pulling my hair over my shoulder while she watched me.
“What did they really do to you?”
“Do you want the cliff notes version or the nitty gritty truth, because the second one takes longer.”
“Cliff notes please.” she replied looking at the clock nervously. I stretched and put my hands behind me.
“I was taken at the age of two, for the ‘Neon Project’.” I rolled my eyes and she took her seat away from me. I noticed only then I had been lying on a larger than average couch. “I was tested, trained, grown and sent on missions from that time till I was eighteen and able to escape and that’s basically it…” I said, “But to bring you up to speed, the testing you do on the experiments here is nothing compared to the testing they used to do.”
“I figure… but how did you survive the magnitude of it?” she was truly curious. I think most of them would be,
“Roxanne said that there was something different with my DNA… something more unstable that made me able to assimilate to the restructuring processes.” ‘It was more of a fluke than anything else.’ “There was a similar instability in Reena apparently.” I mumbled chuckling dourly. I looked to the door, while my hand went to my throat subconsciously
“How… did you know where Simion was?” I glanced back at her and smiled
“Call it a feeling. Instinct if you must.” I looked up at the ceiling and the walls around, scanning for imperfections in the paneling and paint. “And you’re lucky that they don’t spy on you.”
“What happened to Roxanne?” she asked suddenly
“Roxanne, was supposed to be killed for the treason of massing their weapons against the organization. Which of course was a misunderstanding they used to their advantage.”
“Misunderstanding?” she was now looking worried and I smiled a little at her discomfort.
“They made it seem as though Roxanne wanted to take control of the organization by being kind to the experiments, calling them by their names, getting closer to them, things like that… when really all she was trying to do was keep us a comfortable as possible, and find the least risky way to continue with the testing. But then she believed that we were being used to help the sick and protect the peace.” She absorbed my words for a moment before asking the question that was weighing most heavily on her mind.
“What are they planning to do with the knowledge they get here?”
“Make Souseiki from humans… ‘Why should only a few obscure people be graced with the abilities of a god? Kill them and let us assume the throne’.” my voice came so close to Simion’s she dropped her hands on the table in shock. I turned to the table next to me and saw the medical tray with needles, syringes, cotton balls and rubbing alcohol for drawing blood and a few sealed test tubes. I sighed and reached over taking a cotton ball that was already soaked in the alcohol and rubbed it over a vein in my wrist.
“Wait, what are you doing?” she asked suddenly coming back to herself.
“You called me here under the pre-text of getting samples, what would happen to you, I wonder, if you didn’t get those samples?” I asked looking at her as I took one of the syringes, “I’d think after hearing what happened to Roxanne, you’d be at least a little worried about what would happen to you.” I continued piercing my vein, twitching a little as I drew some of my blood, and pulled the needle out.
~Rillian’s perspective~
I watched her in slight awe as she calmly pulled the needle out of her wrist and injected her blood into a test tube. Her reasoning was sound though, so I couldn’t argue with her, though I couldn’t help but feel bad for the manipulation that was now going on. She glanced up and me and smirked.
“If you’re unnerved by this level of manipulation, you wouldn’t like to hear what goes on in life on a daily basis.”
“Can you-?”
“Hear your thoughts? No, not at the moment, and I try not to put that power into practice around others.” she said standing up and stretching. I tensed more out of habit than anything. “People like their privacy and I respect that… though it’s not like I can use it now.” she touched the collar and my body relaxed. I’d almost forgotten about the collar, but now that she was this close to me…
I got up and moved around the table to get closer to her and leaned over to see it up close.
“Curious I take it.” she had an almost smug tone to her voice.
“How did…does it work though?” my hand went up to the apparent leather contraption and was shocked by the cold touch of metal. She raised her head and touched the top of the collar, running her finger around.
“There is a band of circuitry within the case that attaches to my skin on the inside of the collar, mainly at the back of my neck, connecting to the spinal cord.” I raised my eyebrows and she shrugged. “I learned to work around the old one, but this one’s closer to my skin making it harder…” I looked at her grey eyes and saw them flash a few times before settling back down to their normal shade and she shook her head.
“Just how powerful are you?” I found myself kneeling on the floor in awe as she gave me a knowing smile.
“I am a beast caged. This world knows no power more fearsome nor more tamed than mine…” she said without much pause “But for me to be tamed, my other half should be present.”
“Other…”
“They call her, Genesis.” she tilted her head back when a knock came at the door and she tensed.
“Are you alright in there Dr. Mark?” the muffled voice of my personal assistant, Marie,
“I’m fine thank you Marie.” I replied not wanting them to come for Kit just yet. “What about Genesis tames you?” I asked leaning forward a little.
“I’m not sure. She’s like the perfect fit for me, and before… she was the only one who really tried to get to know me after…” she paused and looked away “She kept coming to me and asking me questions no matter how far I tried to push her away… she kept coming back.” her face seemed more relaxed than I’d ever seen it, and this was just from talking about her.
“Were you ever told how you were able to survive? The tests I mean…”
“My powers took hold when I was still young and my DNA was seriously screwed up… unstable… so it was easy to manipulate and strengthen… and I guess the hyper healing helped too.” she shrugged and another piece of the puzzle was connected. Gentle knocks came at my door and I looked around as I heard Dr. Richard’s voice, muffled by the oak wood, asking permission to come inside. I looked at Kitsune to see her visible discomfort and apparent rage blatant on her face.
“I don’t think that it would be very wise for you to come in at this moment sir.” I called out getting up.
“I realize you have Neon with you now.” I could almost hear the smile in his voice. “I just want to see her now.” Kitsune’s eyes were closed and I saw her shiver and clench her jaw.
“Wouldn’t you be able to see her when she’s in her room,” I asked adding lowly “For lack of a better word.” she gave a dry chuckle just before he called back
“Of course I could, but where would the challenge be in seeing her when she could do nothing?” I frowned as he continued, “I want to see just how strong she is without her powers at some point in her life.” I saw her hand move over to the table and take a syringe just as the door was pried open. “And the lovely Neon can do nothing to stop the treatment.”
“Unless death be the cause.” she muttered as she brought the syringe down on her arm…
