Love is Blind

Two days? Three days? Each one passed on as blind as the next. Silvan moved them back to the palace for more comfort and so that the sisters could do their jobs without having to cater to a prince or his fiancé being there. It still did not help Serenity. Her thoughts never strayed from her mother. She missed her. It felt strange in a sense. She never really got that close to her mother before all of this. Serenity’s mind was wandering into thoughts most unpleasant at this point.

What if her father was hurting her mother? What if he was planned on killing Sarai to get to her? Serenity turned restlessly in her sleep. These things weighed heavily down upon her until finally she awoke, just as she had in the past few nights, Screaming out. There was too much to think about. There was too much worry.

She trembled and grabbed for a pillow. Her arms wrapped around it and brought it to her chest. Serenity’s tears soaked the silken cover when she buried her head into the softness.

“So much. Just Too much. I can’t handle this.”

She whimpered her words into the pillow. On top of worrying about her mother, she had to worry about how Silvan felt about things and how Veleska was. Veleska still had recovery to do. The experience with the shadow had weakened her so much that she was deemed fragile, even by the sisters. Worst of all, Serenity felt it all was her fault. If she had never come here than maybe these people would not be attacked like they had been.

She screamed as loud as she could into the pillow. Her entire body shook with that frustration. Serenity didn’t know what to do or how to help! She couldn’t even look on the face of the one she loved to find comfort. That was another worry she had. What if Silvan was really just being nice because of her blindness? Did he really want someone who could not see? The healers couldn’t even restore her sight. When they tried they only met with failure.

One healer was blown back and hurt by an unseen force. Another was burned so badly on his hand that he needed a healer after for even trying. It was very obvious that something caused her blindness on purpose. No one could figure out what it was though.

“ Mother, Silvan..I’m sorry for all of this. It’s all my fault isn’t it.”

“No love it isn’t.”

“Silvan?” Serenity gasped as she heard his voice. “I thought you were sleeping.”

“I was until I heard you across the hall. Are you alright my love?” He sat down in the chair beside the bed and held her hand. “Are the nightmares still bothering you?”

“I don’t know anymore Silvan. This all feels so dark now. It used to be such a fairy tale and now look at everything that has happened.”

“The only thing that has happened love is what is supposed to happen. Fate has a way of making things seem dark but somehow I just know there is a light at the end of our tunnel.” He pulled her close and held her against him. “I promise to somehow make things right.”

“It’s not you though! I think it’s me.” Serenity sighed and rested her cheek against his chest. “None of this started until I came here. Now your world id being invaded by shadow things and the sisters of white are being attacked and just everything!”

“No Serenity.” Silvan brought his hand up and placed it under her chin.”You are this world’s blessing. You’re my blessing and I love you. Nothing that has happened or that will happen will change that.”

“I can’t even see you Silvan. I’m blind. Can you love someone that can not see? Honestly?” Serenity was losing faith in her self. “I don’t love my self right now. I can’t see how anyone else could love me.”

“It is very obvious that I can love someone who is blind. I love you. It does not matter what happens Serenity. My love for you is blind. You could be turned into a man by some unknown magic and I would still love you. I know that seems funny but think about what that is saying my love. No matter what , I love you for who you are.”

“Who am I Silvan?” Serenity was on the verge of tears. “I can’t answer it.”

“You are Serenity Renwal. My Fiancé and future queen of all Corinthia. You are the woman I love. You’re father is King Kristian Renwal which makes you the only heir to the Varian world. Your grandfather is Marcus Fyrestorm, The last of the royal founders blood of Corinthia. You’re mother is Sarai Renwal and she loves you very much.” Silvan smiled and kissed her lips gently. “And I know she is gone right now but we will get her back and we will over come this together.”

“Why do you have to be so sweet Silvan?” Serenity wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug.”I love you too Silvan.”

“I know.” He smirked and let his finger tip play along her ear. “Which is why I think we should plan our wedding. I know it feels like the wrong time but maybe if we can move on to the happier things than they will all get better.”

“I don’t know about that. You still want to marry me?” Serenity was worried still. “I mean..I..”

“What did I just get done saying love? YES, I want to marry you. I want to hold you and make sweet love to you for the first time as husband and wife. I want us to be together forever.”

“My mother is still missing though. I wanted her here.” Her mother was important. How could she fathom being married without her there? “She wanted to attend. I know she did.”

“Serenity.” Silvan brushed a hand through her white curls. “I know this sounds bad but we may have to face the fact that she may not ever come back. I don’t want to put our lives on hold. Now before you get mad let me explain.”

“Alright.” Serenity was about to do a bit of yelling. He read her mind on that one. “Explain.”

“Think about it. That shadow wanted information about you and your mother. This whole thing, I think, has been about stopping you from marrying me. There is some force that does not want this happening and Maybe if we DO get married than we can possibly use the staff if ages to force the Varian king to give her back.” He let his hand trace the outline of her cheek.”And don’t turn that into a negative. I would want to marry you with or without the staff. It is just one of many reasons.”

“You need to stop doing that.” Serenity shook her head.

“Doing what my love?”

“Reading my mind!” She managed to smile for him despite everything. “I want to marry you and alright. Maybe it is time we pick a day. You have been right about everything. I know..I have been difficult. It’s just hard you know?”

“I know my love.” He leaned back on the bed so he rested against the pillows. Silvan pulled Serenity up beside him so she was still resting on his chest. “Try and get some rest. We can be married in just a few days time if that is what you desire.”

“I desire you Silvan. The sooner the better.”

Serenity sighed and nestled her cheek against his chest. His heart beat was soothing. Silvan nodded to her. He continued to brush his fingers through the silky white curls of her hair. He would gladly arrange this. He wanted nothing more than to be with her and hold her. He wanted to be the one that made things better for her.

“It will be done my love. In two days time I shall call you wife and you shall call me husband.”

“You’re such a romantic” Serenity yawned and hugged him tighter. “My own fairy tale prince.”

“Only for you my beloved. I am your prince and your love. I will never let you down. If it is my power to correct the things that go wrong than I will. I would die for you Serenity.”

“Don’t go doing that.” She shifted upwards slightly so that her cheek rested on his shoulder and she lay half way on his chest. Her arm was draped over him. His were drawn across her back. “I need you too much. So no getting your self killed.”

“Is that a request my love?”

“That’s an order.”

Serenity whispered it. Her eyes were closed and sleep was already re taking its hold on her.

“Sleep my love. Tomorrow is a busy day for the both of us.”

They had a wedding to plan! It was finally decided. In just two days he would bring her to his arms and kiss her in front of his people. Silvan would call her his wife and together they would bring about a new era to the Corinthian world.

They would rejoin the lands. They would heal the gateways between the worlds. Together She and Silvan would become the king and queen of legends and bring the people back to a united happiness. It was a sweet thing to dream of anyways, even if both their hearts knew there would still be troubles that followed.

“I do not think so.” a woman with black eyes glared at the images of the fading Silvan and Serenity in her viewing pool. “I will not allow this to happen.” She turned with a ruffle of her blood red cloak. “Soon..very soon sweet prince.”

She walked away into the darkness of her home. She had planning of her own to do now and of course she had to go have a little talk with someone. Yes, she would have to straighten things out wouldn’t she.
