Part 17
Author's Note: I must admit I was seriously considering holding the story hostage for a bit, but then I decided, 'What the heck. I mean, it's not like my self esteem is that low...' (I do have a complex with my stories though... I write and I think it's worthless really...)
But I hope you guys enjoy this installment!

~Joshua’s perspective~
I stayed in the cafeteria and ate like I hadn’t eaten in years. Ah the sweet freedom to choose my own meal and combination. I chuckled at the thought. True I was still electrically charged and that damn Robert was instructed not to leave me alone whenever I was out of my cell, but I got a bigger kick out of the fact that Neon was in practically the same position I had been in before I caught her.
“So you’re really happy you had a hand in delivering the elusive Neon huh?” a sour voice came from behind me. Turned back to see John looking like he’d been put through a blender.
“What of it?” I smirked
“If it hadn’t been for me you wouldn’t have even gotten out of there.” he said sourly
“I thought it was Hope and Jenna who pointed her out.” I laughed “So what? You were trying to pick her up without knowing anything?”
“No. I was trying to pick up her friend.” he eyes got distant and I knew I lost him. I chortled and went back to my food “She was a cute little thing really, thought she would’ve been impressed with the fact I was a trooper.”
“Go tell it to someone who cares.” I sneered, “Or maybe you could try and destroy the source of your irritation… I hear Dr. Richards is pitting troops who’re strong against her in the training room. Maybe you could try to get back on his good graces.” his face perked up. ‘This is gonna be good.’
~Kitsune’s perspective~
The door opened behind me again and I whirled around to the sight of a cocky guy walking in.
“You’re mine little girl.”
“Little?” I scoffed. “I’m older than you!” a blast of fire escaped from my hand towards him and he barely got out of the way, hitting me with acid. I remember him. My outstretched arm got the brunt of the searing pain that shot through my body as the acid ate through the shirt and my flesh. I cried out more in rage than in pain as he shot another stream at me. I would have teleported out of the way, but had to content myself with doing a basic dodge and shaking the earth beneath him. He fell hard.
“Damn it. How many powers do you have?” he demanded trying to right himself. Flames again shot out at him knocking him back down as I walked towards him
“Do not talk to me you fucked up experiment.” I growled trying to put more juice into the flames as he screamed in pain. “You don’t deserve to be alive.” his screams were getting on my nerves, but found myself blocked from ending him.
“That’s enough Neon.” Simion’s voice came over the speaker and my rage increased. I whirled on the speaker box and sent a concentrated blast at it just before my power was sealed again. I screamed and clawed at my neck at the intensity of the pain that shot through me at the sudden cutting off of my abilities.
I was breathing heavily when the pain stopped and it was only after I noticed that the bodies had been moved when I was incapacitated. “Just what are you planning to do with all those experiments?” my eyes locked on the one way window, directly on the spot where I knew Simion to be. I knew I wasn’t getting an answer though… knowing them, I was going to get anther shock that would render me unconscious until they carried me back to my room…
I was right.
~Rillian’s perspective~
Her last words did sting a bit, but the fact that he chuckled made me even more nervous. “It won’t be long before Genesis comes back too.” he muttered looking at her now prone form on the ground.
“I’m sorry?” I asked turning to him. “Genesis?”
“The other project experiment.” he replied. “Those two became practically inseparable in the later years” he chuckled and turned away. I looked back to the room as four of the workers went into the room and took Kit out of there.
“Sir… what are you planning to do once you get the two of them together?” I asked tentatively.
“You will be working on extracting the common signature within them to see what we can do with experiment #989.” he said simply. I gritted my teeth as he walked out. My eyes focused on the screen… ‘My God… what did I do?’
~~~~~
I was in my office again observing Kit as she paced the room, for lack of anything better to do I guess. I would go down to her, but I felt bad knowing some of what was going on now. I sighed and turned back to my work, raising the volume on the speakers so I could hear some of what she said, if she spoke at all during her pacing sessions, while I worked… maybe, she might enlighten me, even though I knew I didn’t deserve it now.
I worked in silence for a while before I heard something that made my jaw drop.
“I know you’re listening. And I know why…” I turned to face the screen again only to see her focusing on the hidden camera in the room. “You have questions and honestly, I’ve been waiting for your curiosity to get the better of you so you would open the mike system.” she made a kind of sad half smile looking down for a bit before refocusing on me. “I’m sorry you had to watch me like that back in the training room, but I know you must have been really confused by some of the things you were seeing and hearing if you were willing to listen to me finally…”
“How could you possibly…”
“I must admit this place seems to have tightened on security in the past three years but it’s still the same basic structure… and Simion get predictable…” she said basically answering my question. “The only problem for me in actually getting out is the intensity on this collar,” she muttered “And I wouldn’t suggest putting on your mike, because then you’ll only get in trouble by the way.” she added making my hand freeze over the button I was just about to press. “If you want to talk to me, either come here and risk being overheard by some of the others who want to hear a conversation between a curious scientist and an experiment who knows too much, or request that I come up to your room for a blood test.” she rolled her eyes and resumed pacing. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, steadying myself before I called for one of my aides… things were getting interesting.
But I hope you guys enjoy this installment!
