Chapter 16: Vincent Morgan Saint-Leclaire / Part Five - Hunting and Games
As the months passed, so did the years, and during this time Mathias and Vincent continued on with their bloody rampage. They grew more powerful and all of London learned to fear them. As time went on, the two of them were invincible and it seemed there was no stopping them......
Mathias and Vincent had just returned from a mass killing spree and were walking along a familiar road in a well populated section of London. They were both large and intimidating men and enjoyed having the power to scare the mortal humans who were in their path.
“Look at the cowards run!” Mathias crackled “Just like frightened deer being chased down by hungry wolfs.”
Vincent looked at his red-haired companion, smirking, and replied “Well then, maybe we should have some fun with them.”
It had been awhile since they both had enjoyed the invigorating sport of “human hunting” They would not kill their ‘prey’ but torment them sadistically until it seemed there was no chance of surviving then leave them lying in the gutter cowering in fear like the lowly animals they were considered to be.
Laughing the two Vampires decided to separate and see how many ‘victims’ they could round up and decided to meet back with them in an hour at a designated meeting spot. Vincent headed towards the East section of town and Mathias stayed where he was and began his hunt.
There was screaming and crying as men, women and children ran in all different directions trying to escape from the “terror” that was chasing them. Mathias was enjoying this game immensely. As he continued rounding them up, he thought back to his time with Vincent.
When Vincent had first been turned, he seemed to be lost and confused. Mathias would often catch him staring off into the night as if he were waiting for someone to join him but the mystery person never came. In time though, Vincent stopped looking and started living, and together the two of them were inseparable.
Mathias knew he was lucky to have found Vincent. Vincent at first was somewhat of an enigma but one that Mathias was able to mold into his own likeness.
He had cornered a small group of humans and was waiting for Vincent to join up with him before they would begin and finish their little game.
As he stood there looking down at them, one young woman immediately grabbed his attention. She looked vaguely familiar but he couldn’t quite place where he had seen her before. Usually, he never noticed his victims but this particular one stood out for some reason.
He continued studying her face, she had long silver blond hair and large gray eyes. Vincent, he thought, she looks just like Vincent!
He observed that she looked lost and that there was no expression in her eyes. It was as if she was living in a world all her own. He had never found out about Vincent’s past, it was uncessary, and one that would only cause trouble for them. This had to be the missing link of Vincent’s past, the one whom he had been watching and waiting for.
I have to get rid of her, he decided, before Vincent returns. I have to do it now!
Turning to the others, he growled out, “GO! LEAVE WHILE YOU CAN! BE THANKFUL YOU HAVE BEEN SHOWN MERCY THIS NIGHT! NEXT TIME YOU WILL NOT BE SO LUCKY!”
Panicking they all ran away in different directions never thinking back upon the poor girl that remained behind.
She continued standing there, her back up against the brick wall of the alley. Unaware of the danger she was in, the girl began to quietly hum to herself what sounded like an old children’s lullaby.
He had to kill her and remove the body before Vincent arrived. There wasn’t much time left. Mathias started forward towards her, his shadow hiding her from the sight of anyone who might be watching. With inhuman speed, he was upon her and sinking his fangs into her soft neck.
“MATHIAS! What are you doing?”
