Chapter 17
My Darling Pet part II
For days Christian pampered his demon pet. He even gave it a name: Argos. He tied a green ribbon around its tail and kept it close to him always. He took it with him every where, even to the market.
Christian bought a pair of sandals that laced up his calves and then went to look at charms and necklaces.
//Boring.//
“Argos…be quiet.” He looked at a necklace with a crystal heart on the end and smiled as the sun reflected off of it.
//Boring. //
Christian put his basket on the ground and let the creature get out. “Then go back home.”
The creature ran off into the crowd and Christian continued shopping.

The demonic creature soon found where he was going and ran up the leg of a waiting figure in an alley.
//Boring. //
Lazerus laughed and scratched the creature under the chin. It had grown bigger under Christian’s care and now had fuller wings and ridges growing on its tail.
//I see Christian’s tied a ribbon to you. Are you named? //
//Argos. Green is nice. //
//How is Christian? //
//Happy. Healing. Shopping. //
//Healing? // Lazerus continued to scratch the creature and listened to it purr.
//Mourning no longer. Miss Argos. Yes. Miss Heart. Yes. Depressed. No. //
Lazerus smiled darkly to himself and leaned against the alley wall, reveling in its coolness. //I see… //
//Reward? // the creature wondered.
//Oh yes, but later. I need you to bring Christian to me. //
The creature flexed its wings and listened in.

Christian heard the screams before he saw the cause. People ran from the market shouting of a demon that was rampaging through town. He saw a body get tossed into the air then he saw plumes of flame. Christian snatched up his basket and ran with the rest.
Somehow, it seemed no matter where he ran, he could hear the roaring beast behind him. He ran into an alley and watched the beast run by.
It was a large canine type beast with wings and a huge spiked tail. It had sharp red eyes and blood dripping off its fur.
The blond breathed a sigh of relief and started to leave the alley when he heard a deep growl behind him. A stink filled the air that was both suffocating and oppressive and Christian decided not to turn around.
He decided to run. And he ran for his life. No one would help him and others fled from his wake as he ran down the various streets of Daru city. He ran down another alley, tripped and fell on his face. The basket he had been gripping flew from his hands and hit the three toed foot of Lazerus.
The demon stood there casually, arms crossed and tail waving about lazily. He wasn’t at full height in the alley, but at a man’s height, which was the same height he took when dealing with Christian in his chambers. The beast crouched over Christian and blew hot breath into his face.
“Aren’t they cute when they finally grow up?”
Christian got up quickly and pressed himself to the wall in fear.
//No fear! //
Christian blinked. “What?”
//Fear? //
Christian looked at the beast and saw the tattered green ribbon on its tail spikes.
“Argos!? What the hell!” He went to the huge canine and snatched the ribbon tatters off. “Argos!?”
//No fear! Demon make big! Protect blond. //
“NO! NO! “ He turned on Lazerus. “What did you do? Change him back!” He screamed.
“I can’t. Once it reaches its true form –.”
“Now! Do it!”
Lazerus banged his tail to the ground. “I cannot! It is –.”
“You just want to ruin my life! You just want me to suffer! –.”
The demon pushed Christian into a wall. “Then it dies!”
“No! –.”
//Reward? // the creature sent.
Argos was destroyed in a blaze of black fire and Christian screamed. He ran back tot eh grand mansion that served as a home to Daru cities high priced whores. He ran right upstairs and sought refuge in his retreat but Lazerus was already there. He knocked Christian to the floor and beat him again and again citing his ungratefulness.
Blood flowed and bones broke and Christian cried until he could cry no more. He screamed until his throat was raw and until his lungs could no longer give him breath. Lazerus tossed him in a corner and left him there.
“Suffer ! Suffer until you die you Bitch!”
Lazerus disappeared and Christian lay in the corner, his body broken, lying in his own blood. Night came and night went and Christian passed in and out of consciousness.
