Bloody Mornings

This would have been up several hours ago but I had a pain issue then a medicine issue and Then I darned well forgot what caused it all! And, well it was about as amusing as beating your head on a wall.

It's possible that I will update again tonight as the next one progress is made and we all know how I am with progress.

Read, Review and Enjoy.

It was sometime the next morning that he woke. The lights were dimmed and his eyes were blurry. His head ached and his chest was heavy. Waking from Nenta was not like waking from a dream. It was not a simple stepping from sleep into wakefulness. It was a stepping from comfort and familiarity back to deprivation and bleak, hopeless lives.

Nenta had been his escape, his imaginary world when everything else was falling apart. He could be anyone and anything, be anywhere at all. And the people who did know who he was accepted him for who he was.

In the real world everything ached and his stomach demanded food and water, the loudest ache of all. Things seemed to poke him, too bony, too…

The arm around his chest tightened and it was not his arm. Rel came startling to the present.

He was laying on the floor, on his cushion, facing the wall, one arm tucked under his head. The Sidhe, Mm, was behind him, curled around him. All that separated the two of them was clothing and a thin blanket. It was still not warm enough.

As the arm stirred, the eyes drifted open.

Rel did a physical inventory. Bodily he was fine, his ass didn’t hurt and he didn’t feel like he had had sex of any kind. He felt fine, oddly, besides the aching of his body and the hunger in his belly. He sat up and rubbed his eyes, looking around the room just as the lights flickered once, then came back on.

Mm sat up beside him and bore his teeth in an odd smile.

“Morning to you too,” Rel muttered.

One of the Sidhe’s teeth fell out of the creature’s mouth. Rel, seeing something fall, automatically reached for it even as the Sidhe batted his arm away. The tooth struck the inside of Rel’s left arm. A line of blood appeared, thin and bright, before Rel realised that he had been cut by the tooth.

A tooth. Had just. What the fuck?

Rel frowned and looked up at the Sidhe, “that’s not good.”

Mm’s mouth opened and closed, as if trying to work out what happened. The creature reached down and plucked up the tooth, holding it this way and that. A frown creased the Sidhe’s brow.

Move.

The urge was strong and Rel stood, moving away from the bed as blood trickled down his arm.

“Going to piss,” he called over his shoulder.

About two seconds before the Sidhe screamed. Rel winced at the sound and turned to watch the creature.

Mm sounded horrified. With himself, with what had happened. To Rel it was only a little cut, to Mm, it was blood drawn of an only companion. The Sidhe leapt from the cushions to the couch. Fabric and stuffing flew everywhere as Mm shredded the cushion. Not satisfied with just shredding it, the Sidhe tore it into infinitely smaller bits, screaming to himself all the while.

When the cushions were thoroughly destroyed, the creature turned his attention to the couch, giving it the same treatment. The wood that made up the frame of the couch was broken into shards until only the feet were left. Mm snatched one of them up and slammed it into the concrete floor. Again and again.

Reminded Rel of monkeys…

The first splatter of blood, caught Rel’s attention. The second nearly hit his feet.

Rel rushed towards the Sidhe and snatched Mm’s hand as he tried to slam the shattered wood bit into the floor.

“STOP.” he bellowed.

Mm whined and shuddered all over.

“Blood,” Rel motioned to the blood flowing over the shards, soaking into the red and turning it forever red.

He pried Mm’s hand open and carefully removed most of the shards of wood. The last bits were in the flesh and skin of the hand and the blood was welling up too fast for him to see it. He tugged Mm into the bathroom and put the Sidhe’s hand under the tap of the sink. With a motion he cautioned Mm not to move before turning on the cold water.

Numb the area, get the blood out and wash away the debris. When he saw flesh… it was marred to say the least. Lacerations over the palm and wrist. Several slivers in the flesh and the skin of the palm. He removed those that he could tug free. The few remaining ones were little more than dark lines under the skin.

“Wait.” Rel made the hand motion and went to the small shelf with the towels. He took up a bathing towel and tried to tear it, having no luck at all.

Mm glanced over his shoulder and made a motion with his hand, beconing to Rel. Rel walked back to the sink and gave Mm the towel. The Sidhe put part of it into his mouth and tore into the towel. Mm seemed to ask Rel if that was enough and Rel took the two pieces and folded one over and over. The other he handed back to Mm and motioned how he wanted it torn. Mm tore it that way, another tooth popping out and tinkling into the sink in the process.

Rel placed the folded half of the towel overtop of the wounds of Mm’s hand and used the other strips to tie the bandage in place. Not quite up to first aide requirements, considering the towel was old and used… but it was the all they had and therefore, the best for the situation.

“Better?” Rel murmured.

“Hhnn,” Mm seemed to shrug, studying the wrapped hand for a long moment.

The door in the living area clunked shut, signalling the arrival of food. Mm turned immediately towards the sound, hand completely forgotten. The Sidhe left the bathroom area as Rel’s stomach growled loudly.

Food would be best. Healing bodies needed it.
