CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Isaac groaned and sighed into Seth’s hot mouth, and held his lover’s head to him as they kissed, deep and urgent. Sexual lightning leapt in his belly and he swelled almost fully erect at that initial contact alone. Seth’s scent intensified, making Isaac feel weak. He allowed his lover to gather both his hands at the base of his back, holding them in one of his much larger ones. Seth moved the tie and opened Isaac’s shirt over his chest and licked a warm, wet path down his throat before leaning down to press a lingering kiss over his heart, then sink those blood teeth into him.

His back bowed and libidinous fire scorched him. “Fuck, yeah.” The pleasure threatened to tear him in half. “You’re already burning me alive. Finish me,” he entreated, shameless and turned on by the element of danger in the possibility of getting caught.

No. When I come to you later, I want you so hot you can’t breathe without me inside you.

Isaac realized that meant he would not find relief in this illicit encounter. Part of him enjoyed the idea of his lover prolonging their arousal. Seth stood straight and brought their mouths back together. Isaac could taste his own blood and excitement. Struggling a little in Seth’s grasp, he then submitted and moaned as his lover’s tongue explored his mouth in a leisured manner.

Lifting his head, Seth gazed down at him from his superior height, burgundy eyes gleaming with sensual hunger. “You should rejoin your admirers.” He stroked Isaac’s jaw.

Still dazzled with sensation, he replied, “I’ll look to see if anyone’s around, then go out.” He swallowed, his attention drawn to his lover’s mouth. His lips had flushed from feeding. Isaac’s dick jerked. He knew his lover felt it by the low rumble he gave. “In this kind of crowd, can you hear me in your head?”

Releasing him, Seth answered, “Yes. Let me know when I won’t compromise you.” He righted Isaac’s clothing and pressed a lingering kiss to his jaw. “Go.”

Isaac picked up his phone. Seth bent smoothly from the waist and retrieved the restroom key card from the floor. “I don’t remember dropping it.” With both bits of technology returned to their places on his person, he went to the door, opened it a few inches. Finding the hall clear, he exited and proceeded to where it joined the large event room. Your turn.

He didn’t look back, instead went to the closest bar and had a second martini made, drink in hand, he walked back to the food table. A wait staff member handed him a warmed plate. Thanking him, Isaac picked up a gray cloth napkin bundling silverware.

“Mr. Felix,” a tantalizingly familiar deep voice intoned, “allow me.” He plucked the glass from Isaac’s grasp. For the benefit of the people around them, Seth continued, “I’ve recently become your most ardent fan. It’s my privilege to hold your drink while you fill your plate.”

“Thanks.” He forced himself to concentrate. From the amazing spread, he chose a mini Beef Wellington, prawns wrapped in pancetta, baby eggplant parmesan in phyllo cups and an individual spinach tart. Trying to play the thing out, he asked, “So, which books have you read?”

“All of them.”

It struck him his lover told the truth. Imagining Seth taking liberties with his computer while he remained unavailable for consultation should have pissed him off. It didn’t. Keeping his tone neutral, he responded, “Really?”

“Yes.”

So many reviewers had chewed through his work with negative and positive results. It hadn’t really bothered Isaac. Now it seemed like his fate depended on this vampire’s opinion. “And?” He added a few mushroom caps stuffed with oyster dressing.

“I enjoyed every word. You’re exceedingly talented.”

He walked to an empty table. Seating himself, he watched his lover’s hand as it set his martini at the upper right of his plate.

I dreamed of you, boy. That I held you down, fucked your mouth and it made you come.

Isaac fumbled in unwrapping his utensils. Seth caught the fork before it could fall. Handing it back, he murmured, “Perhaps something intrigues you to distraction.” The vampire slid gracefully into his chair.

Shooting his lover-undercover a glance, he answered, “It’s the creative personality. Always entertaining new ideas.” Those glowing eyes seemed to catch the chandelier light and reflect flame. Did Isaac conform to some Christian religion, he might have given further thought to the whole ‘Devil’ idea.

“What a privilege to assist.”

“Isaac, there you are!” Nina’s voice sounded like nails on a chalkboard as it interrupted their intimacy. “Introduce me to your handsome new friend.”

Seth rose, extending his hand. “Seth Vincent.”

She gripped it, preening under his regard. “Nina Tavarres. Please call me ‘Nina’.” Seating herself next to Seth, she fixed her attention firmly upon him. “I work for Isaac’s publisher, Sweyton-Ross. What brings you to this function?”

“Mr. Felix is a new favorite of mine.”

“He’s kind of edgy,” she returned, clear as glass about wishing to turn attention from him to herself.

“I found myself instantly loyal, wishing I’d discovered him years ago.”

“Who else do you read?” Her expression fell a bit as Seth released her hand.

“For the foreseeable future,” Seth countered, “no one else.”

Isaac dropped his knife and it clattered upon the plate. “Excuse me,” he improvised. “That caliber of praise is difficult to hear at times.”

Seth returned, “Not at all, Mr. Felix. However, I must insist you believe me concerning loyalty.”

Swift emotion twisted his heart. Battling for outward composure, he picked up the knife and cut into a prawn. “That’s high praise.”

Nina signaled a wait staff to bring her another scotch. “Neat,” she stipulated. “Mr. Vincent, what is it you do?”

“Anything I wish.”

Isaac closed his eyes, savoring the bite of Italian bacon-wrapped seafood along with his lover’s voice. Chewing, he decided to play with Seth in equal measure. He opened his eyes and queried, “What do you wish, Mr. Vincent?”

Seth’s entire body seemed to shimmer with desire. “More of your,” he hesitated, drawing out the instance, “creative genius.”

Nina huffed slightly in feminine pique. Leaning toward Seth, she redoubled her efforts. “I have an idea for a novel. Working in the industry has helped me hone it.”

Seth shifted his regard to her. “Good luck with that. Nice to meet you.” Looking at Isaac he said, “Holding you to that future get together.”

Isaac nodded. “Count on it.”

Isaac finished the event and walked up to his room. Swiping the key card, he entered. Closing the door behind himself, he walked over to the table holding his beautiful bouquet. The scent of the roses filled the air.

He had no idea how his lover would come to him. All the same, he sensed his regard. Isaac removed his jacket and tie. Placing them on the silent butler, he began to unbutton his shirt. Seth, I want you. He shed that garment. Seating himself to remove his shoes and socks, he reached out. Please.

“Now?”

Isaac’s heart almost stopped. “What the fuck?”

“I have a few other talents you don’t know about.”
