“She’s awake! Silvan! Mother!! Veleska is awake!”
Serenity Yelled the good news through the temple. She let her hand slide along the wall to the door of the room. Veleska forced her self to sit up on the bed when she heard this. How long had she been asleep? Her head ached and her body was stiff.
“Lady Serenity.” Veleska tried to speak but her throat was very dry. “Please, I need some water.”
“Veleska!” Serenity smiled. She turned her blind gaze towards the woman’s voice. She was so happy that she was almost in tears. “I’ll get you some.”
“Thank you.” Veleska rubbed her hand over the back of her neck. “How long was I asleep?”
“A little over a week.”
Serenity fumbled her hand over the desk only for a moment. She was so excited about Veleska being awake that her concentration on the things around her was lacking at the moment. The priestess raised a brow to this. This was not supposed to be.
“You are blind my lady?”
Serenity pulled the water cup too her and sighed. “Yes.” She found the seat beside the bed quickly though and sat down. “I’m okay though. It is you we were all worried about.” She smiled genuinely and extended the half full cup. It was brought to her earlier but she never drank from it.
“I’m sorry. I..did not mean to upset you Lady Serenity.”
Veleska took the glass from her gratefully and sipped from it. The water cooled her throat and washed the dryness away. She sighed at the relief and leaned back against the pillow.
“Veleska?” Serenity bit her bottom lip nervously. “What happened to you? Why did you pass out for so long. All I could feel was pain coming from you. I was afraid it was my fault. If I hadn’t come here than maybe you ..”
“No my lady. Do not speak like that.” Veleska interrupted her before she could finish the sentence. “I have learned things in my slumber. I have met my goddess and have very many things to tell you.”
“We should wait for Silvan and my mother to get here.”
“I am here but I can not find your mother anywhere.” Silvan swiftly stepped into the room. “I hoped that she might be here already.”
“What?!” Serenity gasped. “Where was she last!? We need to go find her!”
“Lady Serenity!” Veleska cleared her throat. “She is not here. She left in the middle of the night to seek out your father.”
Silvan and Serenity both turned to look at the white haired priestess. How did she know this? Why would Sarai do something so foolish?
“Mom is gone?” Serenity leaned against Silvan. She lost her strength momentarily.”How do you know?”
Silvan glanced from Serenity to Veleska. He could see Veleska went through a change of her own. One eye was jade and one was silver. He did not bring it up for he figured she would explain.
“Please sit down, both of you. There is much I need to say.”
Serenity was about to cry again but this time it was not because she was happy. She reluctantly let Silvan help to her a chair. He sat beside her and held her hand. He wanted to comfort her but this was all he could do for the moment. They needed to hear Veleska out and than he could bring her into his arms and hold her.
“I was attacked by a shadow slave.” Veleska began.”he mentally raped and tormented me to get information about the lady Serenity and her mother.” She sighed. The cup in her hands was placed to the side table. “I tried to fight him off. I did not want him to invade my mind. There was little I could do. He learned of the sisterhoods suspicions that You were King Kristian’s daughter but he didn’t get everything. I did not let him invade my mind farther to know that we also think she is a link to the prophecy.”
“What prophecy?”
Silvan could see that Serenity was in no mood to speak right now. Serenity could only listen and try to keep her tears from falling right now. Veleska leaned forward to let her hand touch Serenity’s.
“The prophecy of the blood. When Three kings unite than the paths to the world will heal them self with the Light of ages.” Veleska looked to Silvan. “Serenity is the granddaughter of our lost king Marcus of Fyrestorm.”
“What?!” Serenity pulled her hand away.”My grandfather’s name was Daniel and well I never knew my fathers side of the family. I guess I know why on that part.”
“Your mother was adopted and never told.”
Veleska sounded very sure of her self. Silvan pulled Serenity onto his lap and held her. She did not like what she was hearing. He could see that she would have run from the room and not listened further.
“You’re wrong!” Serenity struggled against Silvan’s hold. “Mother would have known!”
“Please Serenity. Calm down and listen.”
Silvan would not let her leave him. She needed to hear this. Veleska shook her head. She didn’t know how else to convince Serenity other than talking to her.
“You must believe me. The goddess came to me. She filled me with her strength to fight off the shadow and banish him from my mind. I was left weakened however and I could not force my self to consciousness after words. Just when I felt as if I might die the Goddess of white appeared to me. She placed her hand upon my shoulder and took me to her home.”
“It was here that she told me about you and your mother and Silvan. I know that he has proposed and that you have accepted. I know that You ARE the link to the prophecy.” Veleska looked at the girl before her. “Please lady Serenity. I speak the truth.”
“I..Don’t know. Yes he proposed and I accepted but you said when three kings unite. There aren’t three kings.” Serenity pressed her cheek to Silvan’s chest. “So how am I a link?”
“The noble blood of Fyrestorm runs through your veins. The king of Varia is you’re your father and you are to marry Corinthia’s heir to the throne. Marcus, Kristian and Silvan. When you take him as a husband than he becomes the blood of the three kings. The rightful heir to the throne of Corinthia and a united world. “
“What?” Silvan looked confused. “Me? Are you speaking of the worlds reuniting? Varia, Corinthia and the middle lands of Chaos?”
“Yes. It is YOU who can open the vault of ages and retrieve the staff. It is Serenity who is the link that makes you so. Together you are one and divided the lands will fall.”
“He isn’t related to the kings though. How does that make him the blood?” Serenity sat up on Silvan’s lap. She was starting to believe all of this. “Shouldn’t it be a child between us that would be the blood?”
“As much sense as that makes, no. prophecies have a tendency to.” Veleska hmmd. How could she phrase this. “Its hard to explain. I only know that the Goddess said Silvan was the king who could open the vault.”
“I think she means that Prophecies have a weird way of misleading their words love. I also think we should believe her.” Silvan kissed her cheek lightly. “She would not lie to us.”
“Why did mom leave? Is there any way to stop her, or..catch up to her?” She was convinced. Serenity wanted to get her mother back if all of this was the truth.
“I’m afraid not. Out side these temple walls she was unprotected from the outside eyes. The powers of the goddess could not protect her since she willingly sought your father out.”
“Are you suggesting that the lady Sarai is NOT in the land of Corinthia?” Silvan looked disturbed at this. “How is it that all these passages between worlds are being traveled through if so?”
What? Huh? Passages through worlds? Serenity was confused again. This was no surprise. This whole experience was confusing. Why should anything change now. So, she might as well just shut up and listen. It was the gamer geek in her. She couldn’t help it.
“The shadow slaves need no keys to travel through the passages. They are not bodily bound to any one world. The protection barriers do not keep them out. The lady Sarai is currently with your father Serenity. She went to him to try and convince him to leave you alone. Your happiness means everything to her. Even if it costs her own freedom or life.”
“Mother.” Serenity whimpered. She was never without her before. “I want her back. I have to go to her! Maybe I can convince him that he is wrong. I..” Serenity was desperately grasping for an answer.
“No My love. That is what he wants!” Silvan could not lose her. “Don’t you see? He has been trying to stop you from being here. He sent the shadow slave that attacked Veleska. His world stands to gain if you go there. You are the heir to the throne of Corinthia. If he marries you off to one of his own than all is lost and the worlds have no chance of finding hope.”
“I’m sorry.” Serenity looked down. “I just want my mother back home with me and away from him.”
“Go for a walk. The cool morning air will help.”
It was in the very early Am’s right now. Veleska looked out the window and saw darkness still bathed the land. At her best guess it was still a few hours till sunrise.
“Will you come with me Silvan? Veleska needs to rest anyways.” Serenity got up from his lap and stood. “And I’m not tired. I’m too worried to sleep.”
“You need not ask me twice.”
Silvan swept her up into his arms. She blinked as she felt her self being carried away. Veleska chuckled watching the two. It was very plain to see that they were both very much in love with one another.
“What happened to walking?” Serenity wrapped her arms around her love. “This is not walking at all.”
“One of is my love.” He chuckled. “Besides I want to carry you. You’re very warm and my arms would freeze if you were not there to warm them.”
“You are so naughty sometimes.” Serenity shook her head “But I love you anyways.”
The two left the room and Veleska. The priestess chuckled at their antics. It was relieving to see that Silvan could ease Serenity’s mind so easily, especially since the coming days would be very trying on every ones spirits.
