I was sucked forcibly into the darkness, and when I was released from it’s grip I was hit with a nausea so powerful I collapsed…

When I came to, there was something around my neck that felt almost too comfortable there. My eyes widened as my hands reached to my neck feeling disgusted by the feel of the cold metal that connected with my fingers. ‘No!!! nonononononononononoNONONONONO!!!!!!!!!!’ I was screaming in my head. ‘This can’t be HAPPENING!!! NOT AGAIN!!!’

“Welcome back Neon.” I heard his voice before I registered his presence.

“FUCK YOU SIMION!” I screamed running to hit him, only to come into contact with a glass barrier. I banged my hand futilely against my barrier before breaking down and falling to my knees. ‘Not here again…’

“Don’t be so harsh Neon. You are the reason we are going to be able to bring in a new era in human kind. You should be grateful for this privilege, to be an undertaking in history.” his eyes began to light up and I felt even more nauseous than before, if that was even possible. “And by the way… I don’t think you’ll be able to get out of that new collar this time around.” he mentioned as he began to walk away “So you might want to get comfortable…”

~Reena’s perspective~

‘I didn’t just see that. That didn’t just happen… Kitsune…’

“What just happened?” Terry’s voice brought my thoughts away from the spot where Kitsune was standing moments ago with her hand around Joshua’s neck

“Where did Kit go?” Anya was asking “She is coming back right?” I opened my mouth to answer, but no words came out.

‘She… lost herself… she absolutely lost control of herself just now…’ my eyes went back to the spot, ‘And even if I wanted to follow her the trail closed too soon for me to be able to follow it…

“IS she coming back Reena?” Jake asked suddenly. “You are the one who knows her best so you must know…”

“I don’t…” I felt helpless, “If she could she may, or she may not… I don’t know what she would do when she’s in that state…” I could tell that they felt how confused I was at that point and I looked away.

“What happened to you guys?” Terry asked suddenly, as she put her hand on my shoulder

“You think it’s bad when a member of the mobile forces invade a city or region to get ‘offenders of the law’?” I chuckled sourly “You have no idea what we had to go through…” I glared at her “You denied her exsistance, claiming her to be the bad guy when you didn’t even know what she went through, what they made her do with her life. Simply killing was not what she wanted to do. I spent most of my time with her trying to figure her out and you know what I found out?” they shook their heads and all but Anya had moved away from me “She had a shell to help her deal with the pain. As soon as the pain became almost too much to bear, she would retreat into herself and her survival instincts would take over so that it didn’t matter if she didn’t want to kill or hurt anyone, she’d do it anyway simply to survive.” my eyes burned and I felt tears escaping. “She was never a murderer. She never wanted to hurt anyone, but those bastards in the organization made it so that she didn’t have her own will, she’d become some kind of monster in their eyes and they started to keep her locked and detained unless they were sending her out on missions which usually involved a fight of some sort… you think you have it hard because she may or may not have murdered your parents…? SHE HAD NONE!” Anya’s hand came on my shirt as I cried openly “SHE WAS FORCED TO BE IN THAT GOD FORSAKEN PLACE SINCE SHE WAS TWO YEARS OLD!!!! SHE COULDN’T MAKE ANY FRIENDS BECAUSE THE TESTS WERE TOO EXTREME FOR SOME OF THE OTHERS TO HANDLE… She figured everyone around her was just going to die any way…”

“I’m… I’m sorry… I didn’t know.” Terry’s voice was small now and I shook my head

“It’s right to be wary of people, you don’t know who’s right or wrong any more.” I muttered ‘I can’t believe she lost herself…’

~Jake’s perspective.~

We went back to the house to regroup seeing as we didn’t know whether or not those Souseiki would come back to finish the job. Dr. Parin took one look at Reena as she stormed up to her room and turned to the rest of us and asked

“Where’s Riona?”

“She kinda got kidnapped…” Terry replied still looking ashamed at her attitude towards Kit.

“By whom?” Dr. Parin asked looking extremely concerned as Anya followed Reena upstairs.

“The organization we’re presuming.” I said finding a seat at the dining room table. “A boy named Joshua and another one who can use electricity.” at the name Joshua her eyes grew worried. “Do you know him?” she put her hand over her face and Terry found a seat near me

“Unfortunately.” she sighed sitting across from me and folding her hands. “I told you I used to work for the organizations for a time right?” we nodded “I didn’t tell you what I had been doing though.” she sighed “I worked in the same unit that caused Riona and Reena the grief they’re in again.” my jaw suddenly got very slack and I felt the earth shake as Terry braced herself for the whole truth. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a large shadow block out the light before regaining a more human form and taking a seat around the table with us.

“You helped those monsters?” Kerri asked, her voice still remarkably calm.

“Strange though it may be seeing as Riona and Reena don’t hate me.” she replied with a wry smile. “Riona actually trusted me above any of the other scientists really.”

“I find that hard to believe.” I replied “The kind of hate she seems to have towards the organization just makes it improbable.’

“And yet it’s true.” she looked up to the ceiling with a far off look in her eye “Riona struck me as quite intriguing and selfless as a child, and I actually took the time to get to know her, calling her by one of her names instead of taking the impersonal approach… as such, the director found it suitable for me to stay by her side until they found it too dangerous for me to go on living…”

“What!?!”

“They were going to eliminate me and make it look like an accident Jake.”

“Do they really have no care in the world?” Terry was disgusted with what she was hearing.

“I had become a liability… to close to the experiments, they trusted me too much if that was even possible…” she shook her head “If I didn’t know better I’d think they were afraid that I’d form an uprising against them with their own weapons.” she chuckled dryly before putting her palms on the table

“What’s going to happen to Kit?”

~Kitsune’s perspective~

Banging on the glass did nothing more than make my hands sore. Trying to get my fingers under the collar to pry it off wasn’t very effective either. So I had to content myself to sitting in a corner glaring daggers at my confinement walls until someone appeared for me to yell at. Not very productive behavior really… at least I wasn’t in an elemental proofed room, not that they could make one for me…

It was hours before I heard any form of movement outside, but when I did I moved directly up to the glass, pressing my hands against the barrier to glare at whoever happened to come into my line of sight.

“Who the fuck are you?” came out of my mouth so quickly I don’t remember having thought the words first. The petite, green eyed brunette seemed taken aback at my crass words but overlooked them saying

“I’m Dr. Rillian Mark, and under any other circumstances I think I would be offended at your outburst.” I arched my eyebrow at her as she momentarily paralyzed my power of speech “I must apologize for the method in which you were brought here, but it was deemed necessary at the time.”

“Do you know what they plan on doing when they perfect their god-forsaken procedure?”

“I’ve found it in my best interest not to question my superiors.”

“Even when they’re insane?” she cracked a small smile at that

“His psychological standings do not affect his intelligence.” she replied. “Are you going to continue to try to break down the glass, or will you attempt to escape if I open the door?”

“I’m sure you already know the answer to that question.” I replied forming a fist against the glass. She glanced at my hand and sighed

“I am sorry that you have to be like that Kitsune, my thoughts were that you would not be opposed to helping others.” I looked at her dumbly for a moment, not believing what she just said. “What?”

“You called me Kitsune…” I muttered backing off in shock and confusion.

“Would you have preferred it if I called you Kit, or Riona?” she asked looking at me as though I’d grown a second head.

“None of your kind ever refer to me by my name…” I said, and for a moment I was truly dumbfounded. The only other scientist who had thought about me on those terms was now back in the Hevlaska region.

“My kind!” my glare turned cold once more. I didn’t trust her. I couldn’t trust her.

“Yes. The kind who willingly experiment on others for the benefit of others without giving them a say in what they want with themselves or who they want to be.” I turned my back on her and kept my calm as I heard her mutter something into the glass and walk off.

I hated being back here…
