Chapter fifteen


Dan could not believed his eyes. Standing in front of him was Julian one of his best friend. He shut his front door and opened again thinking that he was just hallucinating. “Is it really you Julian?” he asked. Still in shocked.

Julian grinned and step inside the cottage Dan shared with Alec. “Yes its me. Your friend. I came with a letter for you from Ramsey.”

Dan pulled Julian in for a hugged. “I 'm so glad that you're still alive.” Dan said with contentment. "How did you survived that fall?" Dan asked when he remember what had happened that day.

“To tell you the truth Dan. I would've been dead already, if it wasn't for my late husband. He happened to came upon me that day.” Answer Julian.

“I'm sorry Julian I didn't know.”

Julian smiled and sat down on the chair. "There is no need for you to be sorry. You couldn't have known that I was once married.” Julian said as he place the letter from Ramsey on the table.

Dan sat down and look at his friend. “How did he die?” he can't help but asked.

“He die of old age”. Answer Julian. Seeing the confused look on his friend face he quickly explain. “My husband was a human. When we met he was 45 and I was a hundred year old phoenix.”

“I'm sorry for your lost Julian.” Dan said sincerely it must be tough being marry to a human. A human ages through time while they stop aging at the age of twenty. It must be hard for Julian to watched his husband grow old and die right before his eyes.

“You still the same Dan, you haven't changed at all. You still worried more about others people problem then about yourself.” Remark Julian. “Now enough about me, why don't you read what Ramsey wrote in that letters then tell me if you are ready to changed your self. If you do then I will tell you where Alistair is.” Add Julian.

Dan bit his bottom lips. He stared at the letter on the table. He took a deep breath and slowly reached for the letters. Dan hand begin to shakes as he slowly opened the letter and read the content on it.

Dan how have you been, sorry for not letting you know sooner that I was still alive. I wanted to apologize for making you carry such a big burden on your shoulder. I have no right to do that even if you are my second consort. I wanted you to know that you are now free. You have done enough. Through out all these years I have always kept my eyes on you and Maya from a distance. Wishing that I could have you both closed to me. Dan you are my best friend and I feel like you should know that I have plan of getting revenge on Alistair. I know how much you love that man. You are properly thinking right now how I know about your feeling for Alistair. I am ashamed to say that I witness the argument you have with your parent. That day you cried your eyes out when you break all ties with Alistair to marry me the king. So that's why I am willing to give Alistair one chance to make things right with our people. If you could changed him back to the Alistair that we used to know then I am willing to let go of my revenge. I want you to know that I am only doing this for you. Because I owed you too much. Its time for you to find your own happiness Dan.

Dan put the letter down with tears running down his cheek. Julian pull out his handkerchief and wiped Dan tears for him. “What will it be Dan? Are you going to continue to ignored your love for Alistair and let him go on believing that you never once in your life love him or are you going to go out their and admit to him that you do love him.” Remark Julian. “Dan you must remember that everything that happened eighteen years ago started with you if you had told Alistair the truth instead of lying to him back then none of this would have happened.” add Julian.

“I know. That is why I try so hard to keep my promise with Ramsey and his late wife. Every time I see Maya. I am reminded of what I did and say to Alistair that day that led to our Clan destruction.”

“Its time for you to make things right between you and Alistair. You must remember Dan, Ramsey is only willing to let his revenge go if Alistair make things right with our people that have survived the massacre. If you don't want Ramsey to kill him. I suggest you go to him and make him see the error of his way.”

Dan nod his head, Julian is right he must make things right with Alistair. Because of what he said and did back then Alistair had turned into a cruel person. He was the one who made Alistair this way. So he is the only one who could turned Alistair back to the kind loving man he use to be back then. His parent is no longer alive to stopped him like before. There is nothing to stop him now from loving Alistair. There is only one thing he have to do first before he go to Alistair and that is to say good by to his son Maya.

Nora twist Sony wrist until she scream out in pain. He place a dagger next to her throat and smirk at her. He was amused. The woman never learns, how many times is it now that she tried to kill him and Maya. “When will you learned that you are no match for me?” he asked.

“Never!” howl Sony.

“Then I guess I have no choice then to do this. Nora remove the dagger away from the throat and with a sinister grinned he chopped off Sony right ear. Sony howl out in pain. While Nora laugh. Then he stopped. He pushes Sony away when he the smell of blood make him want to vomit. His hand cover his mouth. He turned his back to Sony and vomit on the ground.

Sony angry and in pain at what Nora did to her grabbed the dagger on the ground and ran up to him. Just as she was about to stabbed him in the back. The demon King grab her by the wrist and angrily throw Sony hard against the wall. This time there is no more mercy. Sony will have to die. He have given her enough chance to redeem herself. How dare she tried to kill Maya again.

Sony seeing the look on her king face quickly scramble to her feet and make a run for it. But before she could get far the demon King unleashed a powerful magic and it tore her to pieces before she could even utter a protest.

Nora look up at the demon king and smiled weakly at him. “Thank you, for saving me.”

Kai gave the boy a stern look. “Never ever turned your back on your enemies.” he said in a firm voice.

Nora nod his head then he leaned in and rest his head on the demon King chest. He wrapped his arms around his waist. “Sorry I was feeling nausea and have to vomit. I promise you that I will never stupidly turn my back on someone that try to kill me again.”

Kai look down and pat the boy head. “Nora, why do you always show yourself when Maya life is in danger?”

Nora look up and grinned. “Because I am Maya inner self. Maya unleashed me when ever he is in danger. He doesn't know it yet but I am the source of his power.” Nora paused and cover his mouth as he yawned. He closed his eyes and faded away.

Maya opened his eyes and stared up at the demon King. “What happen?” he asked with a puzzle look.

“You fell asleep.” Kai answered as he scoop the boy up and carry him to their room.

Maya rest his head on Kai chest and wrapped his arms around his Neck as Kai carry him. Dan met them half way to their room. “Can I have a word with Maya?” he asked the demon King.

Kai nod his head. “Follow me.”He ordered. Dan silently follow. He watched the demon King place Maya on the bed and cover him with a blanket. “Stay in bed and don't leave this room with out an escort understand!” the demon King demanded.

Maya nod his head. The demon King turned and left with a bit of hesitation. Dan went over to his son and sat down on the bed.

“Maya I have to leave you.” Dan announced quickly.

Maya sat up straight in bed. “Why are you leaving? Does the demon King know?” he asked.

“Yes he knows. I have a talked with him and he is more then glad to be rid of me. With me gone he don't have to worried about me trying to escaped with you again.” Dan said with a small smiled. He reached up and wiped the tears that begin to run down Maya cheeks. “Maya you don't need me anymore. You have the demon king now to look after you. Just promise me that you will do a good job in raising your child.”

Maya nod his head. Unable to speak. He was still shocked to hear that his dad is leaving him. “Why are you leaving me?” Maya asked.

“I have something important that I have to do. I am not leaving you here because I wanted to. Its because you are where you belong. I try so hard to changed your fate but just like Alec said no matter how hard I try it will still lead to the same conclusion. I can't change your destiny.”

Maya hugged his dad and buried his face in his chest. “I love you dad, promise me that you will return to my side. I want you here with me when I gave birth.”

“I promise Maya.” said Dan.

The next day Dan left. Heading to the country of Arisa.

“Dan is on his way to Arisa as we speak my King.” Julian reported to his King.

Ramsey nod his head. Not taking his eyes off the boy glaring at him from across the table. “Julian you didn't tell Dan about Marcus did you.”

Julian shook his head. “Not yet your highness. For I believed that it is your place to tell him about the son he thought he had lost in child birth eighteen years ago."

“Good, because I want to be the one to tell him about Marcus. ”

Ramsey stood up and left the dinning room. Julian follow.

“I wonder how Dan will take the news about his son.” Comment Julian.

“He will be shocked but he will also be happy to know that the baby didn't die like his parent told him so.” Remark Ramsey.

“Your highness, why did his parent lie to him about Marcus? I thought that they should be happy that they are going to be a grandparent.” comment Julian.

“His parent wanted him to be a consort at all cost. When they found out about him and Alistair relationship they quickly put an end to it. And Dan being a good son he is decided to break it off with Alistair to marry me just to please his parent. The rest you know what happened. Alistair raped Dan and then fled from the clan. Soon after Dan parent found out that he was pregnant. They wanted Dan to abort the baby, but Dan refused to. So they lie to him that his baby was dead. And the next day they send him off to be marry to me.”

“How did you found out about the baby?”

“I didn't my wife did. She told me everything, Dan had confide in her. She thought that it was odd that his parent wouldn't even let him see his dead child. I did a few investigation and found out the truth.”

“And that is when you learned that Marcus was rescue from the river by the peacock Clan.” Julian interrupted when he recalled that day when he was ordered to go to the peacock clan with a letter from his King.

Ramsey nod his head. He turned to Julian. suddenly remembering Julian son Anthony was supposed to be back by now.

“Julian isn't your son Anthony supposed to be here by now?” Ramsey asked.

Julian eyes widen and he make a dashed down the hall. Something must have happen to his son. Are else he would have been home by now. Julian thought as he dashed out side and jumped onto his horse. He have to find Anthony. And bring him back home safe and sound. Damn it how could he forgot about his own son.
