Story Notes: This story contains characters that were first introduced in "Fate". However, it is not really necessary to have read "Fate" to understand this story. In fact, you may like Victor better if you haven't read "Fate". As for those of you who have read "Fate"? No, Shayne and Lexi will not be showing up in this fic. Maybe in later stories (Victor has a long back story), but not this one. Also, I have a general outline for this story, but everything isn't set in stone yet. Just like with "Perceived Perceptions", I'm sure that some things will not go as planned. So, the warning lable above is just a general guide, I really don't know for sure where this fic will go. Just a warning, if you're squicky about some stuff (don't worry, there won't be beastiality or scat or anything too extreme) then read the warnings at the start of each chapter. However, I know from experiance, that most of my regular readers can handle anything that I throw at them, so I'm not too worried about any of you. Either way, I hope you enjoy the fic...
Author's Notes: Is anybody still reading this? I think I got spoiled with the number of reviews that I got for "Perceived Perceptions", and my shorts, so the lack of reviews for this one is making me a little sad.
As for this chapter, I've had one more character that I needed to introduce, and here he is. I hope you all like Telen. I'm not sure if I'll do the lemon that this chapter leaves off with between Caspian and Telen. If I do it might not stay in the finished version of the fic. Either way, I hope you all enjoy this chapter. It was fun to write.
Somewhere In Between
Chapter Fifteen: Here Kitty, Kitty...
Caspian was in a very good mood. It had taken nearly a full week, but he finally had his prey in his sights, and for once there was no one around to get in his way either. His father had gone into the village to negotiate the final prices on his newest merchandise, his mother was entertaining some of her friends in the gaming room all the way on the other side of their manor, and his younger cousins were all out riding with some of the neighbor children. That left him all alone with their guest. The fellerian was sitting in an open window near the hearth, one long-fingered hand absentmindedly stroking one of the house cats, seemingly unaware that he was being watched. That was fine with Caspian, who wandered slowly and silently into the moonlit kitchen, smiling as he slid one of his favorite candies into his mouth. Blood flavored lollipops were one of the realm's finest creations, in his personal opinion, and he paused momentarily to savor the first sweetly metallic blast of flavor from the confection before training his eyes once again on the man before him.
Cream Telen did not fit in with the normal residents of the eternally dark Fifth Realm. His lean, sleekly muscled body was nowhere near as pale as the vampires that populated the land, his skin having an almost golden dusting that seemed to gleam in the right lighting. His hair, which Caspian suspected would feel more like fur under his fingertips, was short and styled in haphazard spikes atop his head. The color was a rich cream that stood out in the darkness, but the tips of his spikes were a vibrant orange that hardly seemed natural, and had it not been for the occasional matched spot on the man's ears and his long tail Caspian would have wondered if it was just a glamour that the cat daemon used to make himself stand out even more. Not that he needed any help. Aside from the unusual coloring and hairstyle, Telen also sported no small amount of metal across his glittering skin. The side of his face that Caspian could see had five or six rings and studs piercing his pointed flesh colored ear, a delicate metallic chain connecting the top most ring to a diamond studded post in the cat ear that stood higher up on his head. After having the man in his home for the past several weeks Caspian knew from memory that there were more piercings in the other ear, as well as one in the daemon's eyebrow and a thick stud through his tongue that he would tap rhythmically against his fangs when he was thinking. Caspian wondered what his beloved mother would think if he came home with so much metal piercing his own body? The thought brought a smile to his lips, the hard candy in his mouth muffling the laughter that would have otherwise spilled out of him.
Caspian let his eyes continue to travel the other man's form, taking in the simple black collar that graced the slender column of Telen's neck, the skin tight black leather vest that revealed more than it covered, and the low slung pants with strategically cut out areas along his thighs that showed off even more of the man's softly sparkling white-gold flesh. There were thick leather bands that wrapped around the tops of each of the cat's biceps, and more of the dark material at his wrists. Caspian thought that there must have been an entire cow, if not two, between the outfit, the accessories, and the matching knee-high boots. It was absurd. Yet, somehow, entirely fitting at the same time.
"Like what you see?" The cat daemon purred, obviously well aware of his silent observer.
Telen turned alien eyes on the young vampire as he moved to watch the other man in the same manner that he had done only moments ago. His almond shaped eyes were pumpkin colored and held no whites, the pupils dark and diamond shaped, and he knew that many daemons had trouble identifying the look in them at times. He made sure that the leer that he gave Caspian left no questions, just in case. "I'm glad that you're here. I've been kind of bored with just this little pussy cat here to keep me company."
"Watch where you're putting your hands when you play with my pets." Caspian feigned disgust as he watched the other man stroke the house cat one last time before shooing it off of his lap to climb out of his window seat with graceful movements. Telen let his arms up to reach high above his head, the long line of his body stretching gracefully towards the sky, his already scant clothing shifting until it threatened to reveal even more of his body's secrets. Caspian's midnight blue eyes narrowed at the blatant display. The older daemon always seemed so sure of himself, so confident that he could have anything and everything that he desired, and Caspian would be damned if he'd play so easily into his hands as so many others had done before him. "And stop doing that, you look like a whore, and it won't work on me."
"Stop doing what?" Telen asked innocently. His earnest expression was almost convincing, almost, but then he batted his long eyelashes a few times and the look was ruined.
"Two can play at that game, you know." Caspian couldn't keep the smirk out of his voice as he spoke, making sure that he had the other man's attention before he stuck out his little pink tongue to flick it across the rounded globe of his sugary blood-flavored treat, laughing lightly when Telen instantly stilled. Dark orange eyes watched his tongue move back and forth across the candy, pale brows raised in amusement, full lips pulling back from ivory fangs in a feral smile. "And I promise you that I'll win."
"So, we're to play a game now, are we?" Telen seemed to prowl forward, his body moving with liquid ease across the expanse of the kitchen, his eyes not leaving Caspian's cupid bow lips for even an instant.
Caspian just hummed in a sort of non-comment, eyes going half lidded as he slipped his candy between his lips to begin suckling at the sweet. He watched Telen from under a fringe of dark lashes, but he didn't really need to, he knew that the other man would be watching.
"I like games." Telen was next to the smaller immortal with only a few more steps, smiling at the turn that their conversation had taken. And so quickly, too. He'd had his eye on the pretty young vampire from the day that he'd first seen him, and it had annoyed him to no end that they'd had little opportunity to be alone during his stay with the family, so he was very pleased to find Caspian suddenly so receptive.
"Do you really?" Caspian tilted his head to the side, his crimson hair fanning across his face to partially hide him from view, smiling coyly from behind his silky curtain.
"I like candy, too." Telen said, leaning forward to slide the rough of his tongue across the near side of Caspian's lollipop, a purr rumbling low in his chest when Caspian's tongue darted out to once again taste the other side. However, when he moved one hand up to push the candy away, hoping to find out if the vampire's lips were just a sweet as the sugary blood-treat, he was disappointed to find his companion no longer within reach.
"Not so fast, kitty cat." Caspian liked the slightly shocked expression that Telen wore on his handsome face. It was kind of cute. It made his own sense of disappointment easier to deal with. It was rare enough that he found an attractive man who didn't view him as a child but simply as a desirable conquest, and he really hadn't wanted to pull away from what promised to be a very passionate kiss, but his seduction of the cat daemon still had a purpose. He couldn't let himself forget that. "You haven't asked the rules of the game yet."
"Rules?"
"Yes, there are rules to this particular game." Caspian informed him, liking the twinkle of curiosity and merriment that flickered within the depths of deep orange eyes. He'd known that teasing Telen, intriguing him to draw him in, would be the best way to get what he wanted. After all, curiosity killed the cat, didn't it? "Very important rules that you have to agree to before we can play."
"Then tell me these rules, beautiful." Telen could tell that Caspian wanted something, and he was willing to play along until he found out what it was. He really did like games, after all. And, if curiosity killed the cat, then satisfaction brought it back.
"The rules are..." It was now or never. He just hoped that the fellerian would tell him what he needed to know, because he really didn't want to end this before it had even started. Then sharply tipped nails scraped teasingly down the side of his face, making his breath catch in the back of his throat, and Caspian paused for a moment to collect himself before pressing on. "The rules are that you get what you want only if you give me what I need."
"And what do you need, little one?"
"Tell me about the Kokkonor." Caspian had to turn his face to the side to avoid the lips that sought his own, the growl of annoyance that he heard from Telen echoing the one that he felt himself, although Caspian kept his disappointment silent for the most part.
"The Kokkonor?" Telen breathed, his one track mind not comprehending at first what it was that the vampire was asking. "You mean the Unifier? What do want to know about that for?"
"That's not important." Caspian didn't want to give the other daemon any more information than was absolutely necessary. He didn't know the man very well, didn't know where his loyalties might lie if this business with the Kokkonor turned out to be as big as he suspected it would, and he wouldn't put Victor in jeopardy due to a careless slip of the tongue. "I know that you have information about it, I heard you and my father arguing over it, so you might as well tell me what I want to know."
Telen seemed to be considering the request for a moment, and Caspian held his breath as he waited for an answer, but then the cat daemon gave an easy shrug of his shoulders and said, "Sure, why not."
"Why not?" Caspian repeated, not sure that he had heard correctly. It couldn't be that easy. Could it?
"Yeah, why not." Then, with a mischievous glint in his pumpkin eyes, Telen grinned a grin so wide that it seemed to split his face in two. It made him look slightly mad, Caspian thought, although the look really did seem to suit him. "But, I have some rules of my own that you must agree to as well."
"And what would those be?" Caspian considered taking a step back, but felt silly the moment after the thought had crossed his mind, cursing his weakness as he reminded himself that he was a noble born vampire who had no need to fear an off-kilter cat. He would not give an inch, no matter Telen's request. "I warn you, it would not be wise to push me too far, Cream Telen."
"Not too far." The elder agreed, easily scenting the vampire's unease, his smile widening as he contemplated how far he could push Caspian before the game ceased to be fun any longer. His eyes raked across the small form in front of him, his desire spiking as he took in the form fitting grey silk suit that covered Caspian's lithe body, admiring the way that the fabric hugged near feminine curves while his mind teased him with images of what that body must look like without anything in the way of his admiring gaze. It was the midnight eyes, however, that finally captured Telen's attention. The boy was determined, completely devoted to finding the information that he sought, and that alone told the fellerian that he could go far indeed before Caspian would call an end to Telen's demands. "Just a little something to make our time together more interesting."
"Interesting?" A crimson brow arched elegantly at this. Interesting could mean a great many things.
"A contest of sorts, if you will." Telen had always been fast on his feet, and his mind quickly came up with something, the words spilling out of his mouth even before he had actually figured out what he was going to say. "I want you. You want me. That should make it an even trade. So, if you want something beyond what I'm already offering then you're going to have to prove to me just how much you want this fascinating little tidbit of information."
"And how, exactly, would I do that?"
With lightening speed Telen had Caspian pinned against the kitchen counter, the smaller vampire completely caged in by the cat's long limbs, one cream colored furry ear tickling the side of the vampire's face as Telen whispered hotly into his ear. "I want to hear you scream."
Caspian was panting lightly, the adrenalin in his body quickening his pulse, the ominous words turning him on more than they frightened him. He put one hand up to Telen's chest, but didn't try to push him away. Not yet, anyway. It had been far too long since he'd played with anyone but Victor. He let the other man's hot breath wash over the side of his face as he waited to hear the rest of Telen's offer, shivering slightly as the length of the daemon's tail began trailing teasingly up the inside of his thigh.
"I'm going to lay you out on your bed, a feast for the senses to be certain, and you're going to let me do whatever in the Seven Hells I want with this pretty little body of yours. I'll do whatever I can to make you scream for me." Leaning back, Telen pierced Caspian with unblinking eyes, daring the other to take him up on his challenge. "If you've kept silent by the time that I'm done with you then I'll tell you everything that I know about the Unifier."
Caspian's eyes narrowed dangerously the moment that the last word had left Telen's mouth, promising himself that he'd make the other man regret having ever underestimated him with such a simple demand, thinking that if anyone screamed tonight it would be Telen himself.
He reached one hand up to Telen's messy mass of fur-like hair, tugging him down to meet his lips before the cat daemon had time to say anything else, their mouths mashing together in an aggressive tangle of lips and tongues that might have been called a kiss had it not been such a battle of wills between the two men.
Soon they were both panting, hot breath ghosting across each other's faces as they held close, eyes locked, matching smiles on both immortal's faces. They stared at each other for a series of heartbeats, alien pumpkin trained on midnight blue, before Caspian broke the silence with two simple words. "Challenge accepted."
