Well, stop wasting time and read to find out!
Chapter 44
\"It\'s just you and me then Beras. Winner take all.\" John said. \"Nothing against you guys.
\"Don\'t worry, we understand John.\" Jessica said.
Beras smiled and readied himself. \"As you wish. Then let\'s give your friends a show! Flare Storm!\"
Beras let loose his fire magic, which John quickly avoided. \"Too slow.\" Beras charged foward, drawing a short sword. John pulled out his own and the two clashed together with powerful force. Each one pushed against the other, hoping to knock them away, but it ended in a stalemate. They broke apart and glared at each other. \"Damn, not good...\"
\"What\'s the matter? Having trouble fighting on your own John Aaron? Too bad! Fire!\" Beras let loose another fire attack, which John stood ready for. \"Water!\" The two spells struck each other canceling them out. \"You seem to stand up well.\"
\"Enough! I\'m tired of listening to you. Wind Cutter!\" John slashed at the air, letting his wind energy gather and strike.
\"I\'m not scared. Fire Pillar!\" Beras placed his hands on the ground, creating a powerful flame burst from the ground. The wind attack struck and was dispersed. \"Your still not powerful enough. Your father wasn\'t strong either.\"
\"Don\'t say that!\" John said, his temper rising. \"Don\'t you ever say anything about my father!\"
\"What\'s the matter? Afraid to hear the truth?\" Beras said mockingly.
\"Earth!\" John said angerily, placing his hands on the ground and channeling his power. Beras jumpped up and out of the way, as the energy unleashed itself from under him. \"Stand still so I can kill you!\" John shouted.
\"Yes... lose control. Loss of control means you\'ll waste your power. Your becoming more and more like me...\" Beras said with an evil smile on his face.
\"I\'m nothing like you!\" John said angerily. \"Flare Storm!\" John let out his fire attack, but Beras merely absorbed it. He had temporarily forgotten that Beras\' speciality was fire-based spells.
\"You weakling. You can never beat me. Your father could never beat me. Like father like son...\" Beras ran to John his blade at the ready. John, expecting the sword to strike, was knocked back by the sudden kick Beras delievered. John hit the ground hard, feeling as if he\'d been winded.
\"John! Get up! You have to fight back!\" Aivon shouted, trying to cheer him on.
\"It\'s no use... he\'s too weak.\" Beras said, smiling.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It felt like the world blacked out. Nothing but darkness to be seen in every direction. And here, in this nothingness, John seemed to float, as though held by some force not of his own will. His eyes opened slowly, adjusting to lack of light. Then he heard it, a faint voice.
\"It\'s a boy... such a sweet thing... what do we name him?\"
How about John... John Aaron. Sound good to you?\"
John felt his head hurt, as if something painful was being extracted from his mind. \"Mom.... Dad....\" Then again, the voices were heard, echoing far and wide throughout the void his resided in.
\"Daddy... is mom gonna be ok?\"
\"Wait and see John... that\'s all we can do for now...\"
Once again, the pain hit him, and John tried to grip his head. But it was impossible, his body refused to move, simply float there as memories of his life came and went.
\"Gotcha!\"
\"Hehehe! Wow, you\'ve gotten better! Or maybe I\'m just getting old.\"
\"Your not old Dad. Your the best! No one can beat you!\"
\"Yeah.... yeah.\"
\"Something wrong Dad?\"
\"Make.. make it stop...\" John seemed to plead with who or whatever was doing this to him. The past, his past, seemed to be too painful to remember.
\"Don\'t go Dad...\"
\"I have to. Don\'t worry though, I\'ll be back in the morning.\"
\"Dad... I have a bad feeling...\"
Don\'t worry, just trust me, ok? Everything will be fine...\"
Then he heard it, a powerful booming laugh. John felt his body burn, his blood boiling and rising as if the laugh itself was giving him a new sense of strength. His raised his hand and let out a shout as a pillar of fire surrounded him....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
John\'s eyes snapped open as he tried to get up. Pain ran through his body but he no longer cared about that now. All he cared now was avenging his fallen father, his father who gave up his life to ensure his son would have one. It all began when he went to this acursed tower. The tower he was in. The tower that was his battlefield.
\"And the mighty hero stands.\" Beras said mockingly.
John said nothing as he steadied himself. Then he glared at Beras. there was a fire in his eyes that burned brightly, a new sense of something that grew in him. Beras, however did not notice this, but merely shouted \"Flare Storm!\" As the fire rushed foward, John moved his hands up, as if in a dream-like state, and shouted \"Bubble Storm!\" The blasts of water canceled out the fire that Beras sent.
\"So, still got some life in you then? I\'ll have to fix that.\" Beras charged foward again, intent on ending this battle.
\"Not today.\" John said, raising his sword to block Beras\' attack. The two clashed again, but this time John only used one arm to defend against Beras. The other he placed on the ground and shouted \"Earth!\" The up close blast couldn\'t be dodged, sending Beras flying off.
\"Fine, enough of this. I will end this now with on final blast! Magma Burst!\" Fire seemed to erupt around Beras as the flames twisted with each other before becoming one gaint blast of fire, sent straight at John.
\"This is for you Dad... Aqua Burst!\" Copying Hieas\' spell, John let out that water version of Beras\' spell, and the two collided. When that happened, the spells canceled out, but sent a shockwave of energy, knocking Beras off his feet.
\"Such power! Where did- What!?\" Beras hardly had time to block as John was ready to plunge his sword straight through where Beras\' heart would be. Knocking John away, Beras got up, and rushed to Jessica.
\"Fine, then if I can\'t get you, I\'ll take her instead!\" Aivon immediately stepped between the two, John had appeared and defended with his sword.
\"No! You already took someone I loved away from me... I won\'t let you take another! Wind Bomb!\" John let out a blast of concentrated wind energy which struck Beras and sent him back into the wall. \"Now die!\" John shouted as he rushed foward and struck.
Time seemed to slow as the blade struck and pierced through Beras\' demon protection. \"Gah!!!! No... impossible...\" Beras choked out, as he already felt his body starting to fade.
\"You lose Beras. It\'s over.\"
\"Heh... hehehe... fine... I accept it... you know, your alot like your father John. Had things gone differently, this fight never would have happened... but I guess... that\'s just Fate\'s way of mocking me...\" Beras fell down, and hit the floor before vanishing. John looked to the spot where Beras was and collapsed. He felt strangely weak, but then again, he had just used spells he had little to no practice with. Jessica and Aivon rushed to his aid.
\"John, you did it! I\'m so proud!\" Jessica said, hugging him.
\"You did a remarkable job. Great work.\" Aivon said.
\"Thanks guys...\" John said, looking upwards. Mom... Dad... I hope... I did you both proud...
Suddenly a rumbling brought them back to reality. \"Uh oh... you guys feel that?\" Jessica asked.
\"The tower! It\'s collapsing!\" Aivon shouted. \"Quick we have to get out of here, now!\"
Supporting John, Jessica and Aivon led the way out to the door. Instead of returning them to bottom, like John and Jessica expected it too, they were instead back at the top of the spiral staircase. Being careful not to let him fall, but stil moving as quick as they could, Jessica, Aivon, and John decended back down the stairs, until they reached the base. Pushing a door open, they tumbled out into the outside, and ran. As they ran they looked back to see the tower collapse upon itself, rubble falling from it\'s hieghts to the ground.
\"So ends Beras\' Tower... and Beras too.\" John said.
\"Yeah. I guess our little adventure is over for now.\" Aivon said.
\"John look!\" Jessica said, pointing over to a building. It was completely burned to the ground, and looked like it have been like that for weeks on end. The roof had completely caved in and there was nothing in the house that hadn\'t been turned to ash, save for a staircase that led down, down into a place so long ago visited he had nearly forgotten.
\"Home...\"
