~Reena’s perspective~
Kit was shifting uncomfortably in my arms, waking me up. Judging by the lack of light outside I’d have to guess it was close to four-thirty, which was odd. Looking at her face I saw it contorted in fear with a sheen of sweat coating her forehead.
“Hey Kit.” I shook her slightly, wary of sudden outbursts. “Kit, wake up.” I pulled myself up and tried to wake her as gently as I could. She whimpered and buried her face into my chest, gripping my shoulder painfully. “Kit!” she shivered and a burst of light exploded from her as she shot awake. I winced at the brightness, actually glad for the burning sensation that was already fading in my eyes. “Nightmare?”
“Yeah.” she whispered coming down from her fear as she realized where she was. I wrapped my arms lightly around her shoulders, pulling her back to me.
“What happened?” she shook her head.
“You lived through it… you should know…” she mumbled something else but it was too low for me to hear. I breathed in as her head rocked back to my shoulder. I breathed out as she looked at me, her eyes completely defenseless… it was almost like looking into the past. The pain she used to survive through with the experiments and tests always had her drained and positively innocent.
“There are parts only you know though.” I whispered, her head finding the juncture where my neck met my shoulders
“Those are parts no one should know.” she mumbled, her words vibrating along my nerves. I stroked her hair tenderly looking away.
“You’re right… no one should know what you had to go through…”

“Are you kidding me?” Terry was fuming at the excursion we were told to take today. All of us, Kit included, to the park where we first met. Needless to say, Terry was not pleased she was going to be going with ‘the murderer’ but she had to suck it up. I was grinning though, and Anya was beyond ecstatic. Why? One may ask… Kit was wearing the skirt, without much of a fight mind you, and I must admit, I like what I saw… I liked what I saw a lot.
“Would you stop ogling?” she demanded in a whisper next to me.
“Why should I?” I teased “You look gorgeous.” she rolled her eyes and made to go back upstairs. I stopped her with my arm, “Come on you do.” if any one of them saw our brief exchange I’m sure they were shocked by the range of emotions that played over her features at that point.
“Fine.” she sighed, going towards the front door instead. I smiled as I saw the material of the skirt move in tandem with her hips. (I’m a perv. I’ll admit it)
~Kitsine’s perspective~
I really disliked skirts, but one good thing about them was freedom of movement I guess… If it was anyone other than the amber eyed beauty that held my emotions (and part of my DNA) I probably wouldn’t be wearing it right now…
“So who wants to push me?” Anya asked jumping on the swings and looking directly at me. I turned to Kerri who held up her hands in defense.
“I’m sorry. She’s not looking at me.”
“Thanks!” I smiled sarcastically. I swear I saw some shock come over her face briefly before she rearranged her features to look nonchalant.
Jake and Terry were sitting on the benches, Kerri was a golden retriever, I was still pushing Anya on the swings and Reena was hanging upside down on the monkey bars, when it happened. I felt a teleporter come within my range and I immediately stopped pushing Anya to look around.
“What’s wrong Kit?” Anya asked noticing my sudden unease.
“Not sure…” Kerri had stopped moving as though she heard something, and the rest of them got on the alert. “How much do you know about fire?” I asked softly.
“I can burn someone into ashes in about thirty seconds.” she replied easily looking at me.
“OOooo, impressive little one!” a slightly baritone voice called out somewhere behind me. I grabbed Anya and jumped to Terry and Jake’s side.
“Joshua.” I breathed as I saw his slightly demented face come into view. “Did they let you out on good behavior?” I asked giving Anya to Terry… ’she should have to fight.
“Not at all love.” he said lowering his head and shoving one of his hands in a pocket of his jacket. “They sent me specifically for you.” out of the corner of my eyes I managed to see Reena, now right-side up glaring at Joshua.
“Pity you won’t get me so easily.” I replied quietly before moving out of his sight momentarily reappearing some, five feet away from Terry, Jake and Anya.
“Yanno, your disappearing acts don’t really work all that well when another element is added to the mix?” he pulled out a stun gun and fired at me. I barely had time to brace myself when the twin prongs hit the flesh in my left arm, even less time for the pulsing numbness to take over sending me into a frenzied spasm that lasted all of the minute it took me to pull the prongs out of my hand and feel another, more intense shock go through my system. “Oh man, you should not have done that.” I heard Joshua’s laugh come from far away. “You really thought you could stay away from something you were born for?!!!” I was on my hands and knees and I didn’t know how I got there. The pain was highly reminiscent of the shock tests they put me through in the beginning and I had to fight to keep my sanity and change my element.
“I must admit… you are good.” I panted as I felt the electricity become a part of me “You had me going there for a bit…” I opened my eyes and was greeted by everything being dyed in a hue of red.
“THERE!!!! There is the Neon I know!!!” Joshua practically came in his pants as my powers began to take over.
“This is not supposed to be a good thing.” another voice said. I turned to the source of the unfamiliar baritone to see a fairly tall boy with one hand shaking his head at a ten foot diagonal to me. Joshua came into my line of sight not a moment later and he fired another shot at me. I caught the bullet in the palm of my hand and chuckled as he pulled out a detonator.
“They certainly come up with some interesting innovations these days.” I murmured as I felt my hand explode and reform. My hand was around his neck and I was grinning. My mind was trying to tell me something. I had to remember something… someone.
“Welcome back.” he said just as I breathed out.
