Chapter 13
Chapter 013: Battle In The King's Hall :
The entire throne room erupted without warning into combat, those loyal to King Tolkki fought against Kotipelli's mercenary warriors. Johan had watched in shock as the Captain Kotipelli charged on the inquisiting king with his blade. The sword had stabbed deep into the King's shoulder. The King made no noise as he drew his ornamental dagger to stab it into the eye of the long haired blond. Kotipelli drew back holding his eye and cursing the King.
All around men fought and soon Johan found himself caught up in the fighting as well. The men were of various skills so Johan so far had been able to hold his own against them. The sound of steel and iron and war cries rang clearly in his ears. Bodies slammed to the ground, dead. Still he fought on until he found himself away from the King's Hall; alone in a corridor standing between the exit and Kotipelli.
Kotipelli still had one hand over his wounded eye, "Damn rodents. You stand between my life and death. Move now or I shall show you no mercy."
Johan barked, "Never. You would have had us killed for your vile cause."
Kotipelli smiled darkly, "Damn. It is your fault that our plans with Stratsovara have failed. You could have survived if you had not crossed my path or came here. So I shall take extra pleasure in your killing."
Kotipelli advanced using only one hand to wield his sword. His blade cut downward; but was blocked. He pulled back and swirled around so fast that Johan wasn't sure where the other would strike. The blade cut into his sword arm; almost severing it off.
Johan shouted out in pain, "Damn!"
But he had no time to concentrate on his pain for as soon as he shouted out then Kotipelli slashed at his other arm. Blood felt like it was pouring out of him. Johan fell to his knees to weak to stand. It took all his well not to faint from the powerful swordsmanship of Kotipelli.
Johan's eyes closed as he fell onto his back. He couldn't stay awake any longer.
"And now you die, pest." The voice hissed.
But he heard the sound of swords clashing against each other and solitary bright spark appeared before his eyes. He wondered if this was what death was.
