Midnight thoughts
She stared at the happy couple walking down the street and sighed. There were just some things that weren't meant to be. For example, how do you explain to someone how you can be so confident in certain areas and so not in others? When it came to school, she knew she had it down. Liz wasn¡¦t shy to admit that she was smart. She never had a problem with school and throughout med school she never really had to struggle. Yes, it was med school, but it came naturally to her. it just made sense! Relationships however, didn¡¦t make sense at all. Guys in general, for that matter, were a mystery she would never comprehend. This was not something she could learn from a book and she knew it. She was never confident in herself to even look at a guy and smile, yet here she was "dating" two guys now.
She remembered back in high school when she would go to parties and a guy whom she was not friends with previously would enter the room. Immediately she would stare at the floor and avoid all contact with him. Over time, if she managed to make a friend with one of the male species, then that's really all that ever came out of any relationship- plain and simple friendship. She was always the "best friend" and never the "girlfriend".
Not much has changed since then either. Granted, she was now able to look at some guys and easily converse with them. However, that was only if she wasn't remotely attracted to them or they were somewhat younger than her. Attractive or older had her blushing and studying the ground. The more she thought about the more she realized her problem might just be intimidation. She was intimidated by anyone older or attractive in any way.
Laughing at herself, she remembered Jackson, this smartass in her classes. He was hot and a lot of girls fell head over heels for him but she was not intimidated by him simply because he was an arrogant jerk. They were having this huge discussion once about cortisol levels in Addison's and Cushing's disease. He had mixed up the the two diseases and was such a smartass insisting he was right. She had had no problem proving to him exactly how wrong he was, embarrassing him in front of their small group and she had no qualms for it. He liked to humiliate and prove his intelligence to other people by puttng them down and it was about time he got a taste of his own medicine. Again, if she was in her own domain, she was fine.
She did, however, remember doing a week in triage where she worked with a student from another hospital. His name was Alex and he was super sweet and sexy and incredibly brilliant. Again, she had clammed up and he doubted he realized she existed.
Ahhh, this was frustrating, why couldn't she figure herself out?? Maybe then, she could fix her problem and be able to move on with her life. Yet, for now, she was stuck in this rut and she knew things would not get better if she didn't get over her social problems.
She thought about her current dilemma. What was she going to do with Mark and Matt? She knew she had to come clean with Mark and explain to him that she was not interested in him in that way but she really wanted to remain friends. God, that was so corny, it sounds like something out of a Degrassi Junior High episode. She really did want to be his friend though. He was a great person and an even better doctor, yet there was just nothing between them.
Matt, on the other hand, definitely set something off inside of her that she had never felt before. Earlier that evening when they were making out heavily on the couch she was tempted to bring things to her room. She freaked out though when his hand slid under her shirt and he cupped her breasts so she cooled things down and he left a little disappointed. He called her right after though and told her he could wait as long as she wanted and he hadn't meant to freak her out like that.
She didn't know why she jumped away from Matt. Although he was obviously into her and she, in turn, into him, he scared her just as much as any other guy that fell in the aforementioned categories did. What was she going to do. Matt was sweet but she didn't know how long he would ACTUALLY wait for her to get her act together.

Katie: LOL- you make me laugh! I think I might disappoint you though¡KOne of the things you wrote about might not go along the lines you wish¡K..my apologies ahead of time!
Blondiexoxo: How badly do you want Mark kicked off exactly? :)
