Demon Love Story
Action and Reaction
More days passed and Christian began to spend more time with Argos. He even began to visit him outside of the pleasure palace. When he came back home each night he seemed happier and happier. Heart, on the other hand, was not.
Down in the plush retreat Heart and Christian called their “sanctuary”, Heart was raging. He threw a pillow at Lazerus.
“What are you doing!? Argos still lives!”
“This has to be planned if we’re to both be rewarded!” He cupped Heart’s jaw. “Patience.”
Heart frowned as a blush spread across his face.
“I see. So the first time wasn’t enough was it construct?”
“I want Christian to love me!”
The demon smiled and began to lay Heart of some pillows. “Patience…”

That night, Christian was dressed to kill. He wore a long linen breech cloth dyed a rich purple that displayed his legs and amethyst anklets to finish off the look. He also wore an accompanying amethyst bracelet and had combed out his hair. He placed a purple flower behind his ear and he’d gone all out to decorate the whole room in varying blues and purples. He sat on the red violet silken sheets and waited. He knew Argos would arrive soon.
Heart came in around midnight, just having recently woken up and tried to snuggle his guardian. “Let’s take a bath Christian!”
“You go on Heart. Argos is coming.”
“Okay…” Heart left for the bathing chamber with a faint smile on his face.
More hours passed and Argos still had not arrived. Christian busied himself by counting the emeralds Argos had given him.
Dawn came and went and Christian fell victim to sleep. Heart blew out all the candles and threw a silken sheet over the blond. He couldn’t help but smile and laugh under his breath.
Around sunset, Christian rose from his slumber and made his way down to the front desk. Deirdre, a saucy red head, was counting the previous night’s earnings.
“Dee Dee, did Argos come by at all today?”
She kept counting and shook her head. “No rich man in sight Chrissy. Sorry.”
“Oh…well…any messages?”
“Sorry Hon.”
Christian nodded and started to go back upstairs. Heart ran right into him and nearly fell down.
“Christian!”
“Yes?”
“Fatima said last night one of her guard customers came in and told her about a fail coup!”
Christian raised a brow and continued up the stairs to their chambers. “And?”
“Some nobles died protecting the king!”
Christian felt his heart sink. “Well…I’m sure Argos will tell me all about it when he comes tonight.”
Heart looked sympathetic and touched his arm. “Christian…they held…Argos’s funeral this morning. You were asleep –.”
Christian lost his footing and collapsed. “No!” He screamed.
“Christian –.”
“No! No! No! No!”
Heart went to him. “It was his job! Besides, there will be others –.”
“No!” the blond began sobbing uncontrollably. “No no no no…Argos no…”
Heart bit his lip and looked confused. “You still have me –.”
“You don’t understand!” Christian cried and buried his face in his hands. Heart stood up and looked down at Christian. He couldn’t understand.
“But I love you too! Forget him. I love you!”
Christian ran out of the room and fled down to the basement rooms of the pleasure palace. He burst into madam Kitty’s room and fell into her lap, crying.
“He’s de~ad!” He wailed.
The aging woman stroked the young man’s golden hair and rubbed his back. “Christian…look at me.”
He continued to sob into her lap, shaking uncontrollably.
“I know you loved him Child…but I warned you, I always warn you. Didn’t you learn after Corsica? After Fatima?” She held his face up with her wrinkled hands. “Hm?”
The blond sniffed loudly. “He would’ve taken me Madam! I know it!” Tears ran down his cheeks. “He called me his lover! He actually talked to me! He let me in his house when people could see! We went to dinner! In a public place and –and –.” He began to sob again.
“Fate took him. That’s all I can offer.”
He cried in the woman’s room for a long time until his eyes were red and dry. He stared at the finely woven carpet, oblivious to everything but the sound of Madam knitting and humming.
“…he’s gone…” he croaked out after a while.
“Yes. He is. Are you alright?”
“No…”
“While you mourn…I may lose profit.”
“Then I’ll leave!” He began to sob again, but no tears escaped his eyes.
“No…You can stay. Donovan, Tannin, Arlo…they pick up your slack.” She stroked his cheek. “I believe he would’ve taken you too Christian. I am truly sorry.”
The dry eyed blond went back upstairs. Heart leapt from the feather bed to greet him but he ignored him and put on Argos’s deep green wool cloak. He curled up on the bed, naked but for the cloak, and went to sleep. Heart whined and tried to cuddle with him, but Christian pushed him away.
The blond was in mourning and his Heart could not understand.

*Christian is heart broken. Heart is heart broken. Who won and who lost? –tears for Christian- Too sad…
*Anyhow, I need to keep typing these up…I’m getting lazy…Also…this story has no definitive ending and goes on into several other stories that I believe you all will enjoy…oh well, I’ll tackle that when I get there.
*I would also like to thank you, my loyal readers for giving me the encouragement I need to continue this fic. I love you all, I really do.
