As soon as Judy walked into the attic bedroom she burst into tears. While the boys were putting him on the bed after he passed out they felt the bandage on his back and took it off to see what it was. Trevor had woke up just before Judy walked through the door and turned over but not before she saw it. She went to the bed and took her son in her arms.

“What happened to you?”

Trevor rested his head on his mother’s shoulder unable to vocalize so Lyle told Judy what was going on starting with Cain’s escape and Trevor’s break up with Caleb. “We knew Caleb had been hurting him but he wouldn’t tell us how.”

Judy pushed Trevor back so she could look at his pale, strained face. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“You heard Lyle. Caleb wants to get him in trouble, his parents, you. I couldn’t let that happen and I can’t still. Not to mention Cain. He would have to live there.”

Judy turned to Cain who looked as sick as she felt. “We will protect him, and Deb and James would not be afraid of those assholes. When they get home we’ll tell them what’s going on and then we will take Cain to our house. I’m going to call the police and have them arrest Caleb!”

“No! Mom if you do they will get him off and then they will really be after us. I went there willingly both times.”

Judy got up and went down the stairs to get some peroxide and clean bandages for Trevor. Cain sat where she had just left and took Trevor’s hands. “I’m so sorry. This is all my fault. I never meant to bring pain into your life.”

Trevor felt Cain’s hands warming through him. “Cain this isn’t your fault. Not at all so please don’t think that way. I am the one who fell for Caleb’s bullshit in the first place, and you can’t help the way I feel about you.”

Lyle felt like he was intruding but he really had nowhere else to go. “With our parents helping we can figure out how to stop Caleb. I think we should call Gillian. She would kill us if we were doing this without her.”

Trevor moved and it hurt making him wince but he pushed through it. “Great! More people to know about what Caleb did to me.”

“No one has to know all of it.”

“I know. Yeah call her; if Caleb can’t get to us she’ll be next.”

Soon they were all gathered in the living room of Lyle’s house and Trevor told them all a little of what he knew and Gillian told them what they suspected of Caleb as far as Nigel’s murder was concerned. James was angry his son hadn’t told them they had someone upstairs but was proud he was protecting his friends. Judy sat with Deb’s arm around her thankful for the good friends she had. Trevor was of the same mind in looking around the room and seeing the people who cared about him gathered to help. Just a couple of hours earlier he had felt like everything was out of control and he was completely helpless but he stopped feeling that way. He felt nearly empowered.

“They have money and a lot of it.” He told this to the group and Lyle agreed.

“Their house is huge and has everything.”

Deb spoke up, “How the hell did it take so many years to figure out he had a son?”

Judy remembered the things she learned that day. “I almost forgot! Well I don’t know if Eva Jennings didn’t want him to know or if he just left her or what but Cain, honey, you have a brother somewhere.”

Cain looked at her and nodded. “I know. Caleb is my brother.”

“No honey a real brother. A blood twin brother. Caleb is adopted.”

Cain took Trevor’s hand and nodded. “He is my brother.”

Judy looked at him then at the rest of them. “He is your real brother? How do you know?”

Trevor stood up then. “That’s how you’re connected to him! How you knew me! You’re twins! You have that weird twin thing!”

Judy’s mouth dropped. She didn’t believe in paranormal phenomenon, had scoffed at it all her life but she had read several studies about twins and the strange but very real connection they had with even those, like Cain and Caleb, where they had never met after being separated at birth. “Oh my god I can’t believe it. Well, what do you know! Sonny Caspian had Caleb taken, or maybe took him himself then so he didn’t get in trouble for taking Eva’s baby he pretended to adopt Caleb! He had no idea Eva died or that she had had another child.”

Deb shook her head, “I can’t believe that! Why would anyone…well how did he even know Eva?”

Judy went out to her car without a word to any of them. Gillian went across the room and hugged Trevor tightly careful not to touch his wounds. When she had been told about what Caleb had done she wanted to drive over to Caleb’s house and beat the crap out of him but Lyle had stopped her. He had told her he would die if anything happened to her and once she had gotten there he hugged her for a long time and then he had her sit next to him on the love seat. As much as she was concerned about Cain and her friends and family she couldn’t help the butterflies that had lit in her stomach at Lyle’s new attention to her.

Judy reentered the living room with a small book in her hand. “We can find out from this.”

A/N This is starting the diary of Eva Jennings which is going to be a book within a book and explain everything that happened before the boy’s births. I will get the first part of it out tomorrow as today had been HELL on me and I need bed soon. Sorry it’s so late and so short!!
