The Female is the Deadliest
::::::::::
In the inner most chamber of Hell Lilith Apollyon, the reigning Queen of the Damned, stood quiet and still, her total attention focused on the huge gilded mirror in front of her.
It was a gut wrenching experience for her, for unlike her husbands visions of former glory which reflected back at him, when Lilith gazed into the glass a scene of incredible horror began to unfold before her eyes.
She watched stoically as within the mirror her children were slaughtered one by one on the banks of the Red Sea. Lilith no longer cried for her lost little ones. She had no tears left. None for herself, none for her dead babies and none at all for anyone or anything else save perhaps her youngest son and even that had its limits.
Every speck of mercy had been burned from her soul when God, in his infernal wisdom, had decided that a proper punishment for her disobedience was the full scale slaughter of her innocent children as she stood, bound and helpless to stop it.
Lilith lifted her chin in defiance.
Her progeny had been taken but still she had refused to bow before God or her former husband Adam and now his children, the children of man, wept hot tears as Lilith took their own innocent babes from them.
Her hand came up to ghost across the surface of the mirror. She had not been best pleased when Lucifer had first informed her of his new bet with the Almighty but she had to admit that anything, anything would be worth it as long as she never had to lay eyes on this cursed thing again.
Her eyes narrowed as she watched the angel in the mirror swing a flaming sword, cleaving her children clean in half. The sword sang through the air again and again as the angel mercilessly struck, leaving a trail of blood and destruction in his wake.
Mindlessly doing Gods will.
Lilith growled and her hands balled into fist.
Gods most trusted.
They would pay.
Lilith turned away from the glass and made her way from the royal chamber. It was enough to have suffered through it once. She couldn’t help glancing back over her shoulder one last time as she left though, her eyes immediately drawn back to the gruesome images in the mirror and the brightness of the angels flaming red hair.
It might surprise most human beings to learn that God and the Devil spend a rather large portion of their time together, but they do.
Most of that time is spent arguing and jostling for control but still they have a long history of being in the same place at the same time.
Much like now.
Lucifer smirked as he sat and watched from above as Milo and Gabriel tore into one another on Earth, beside him God also watched attentively.
“It is begun.” The prince of all liars said smugly. “Already Gabriel is beginning to fall prey to my demons charms.”
“You mean Milo has already begun to fall in love with Gabriel.” God scoffed.
“My demon will….”
“Gabriel has….”
“You both should be ashamed of yourselves.” The great She murmured.
Milo stared up at Gabriel from the ground. He had landed hard on his backside when the angel shoved him.
A slow smile curved the corner of his lips.
“Has anyone ever told you that you are incredibly sexy when you’re angry?” Milo purred.
Gabriel’s face twisted in disgust. “As if I care what you think! You are nothing!”
Milo sat up and stretched languidly, making sure all of his muscles were shown to their best effect. “You seemed to care a moment ago.”
“You have been too long around these worthless humans.” Gabriel sneered.
“You think you’re better than they are?” Milo laughed. “Humans at least have the ability to make their own choices.”
“Make their own mistakes you mean.” The angel crossed his arms defensively over his chest.
“They have their own minds.”
“I have my own mind.”
Milo snorted. “You have nothing but a leash and a collar around your neck.”
Gabriel’s face flushed a deep red and his hands clenched into fist at his side. “I should destroy you right now.” He snarled.
Milo threw back his head and laughed again. “Don’t you need to run along and get a permission slip first?”
God and Lucifer continued to argue back and forth. It was so tiring to listen to.
“My angels heavenly radiance will pierce your demons black soul and bring him to us.” God said smugly.
“My demon will use his powers to teach your angel all of the pleasures of the flesh and he will fall.” Lucifer countered gleefully.
The great She sighed. They would never learn.
Gabriel was beyond furious. How dare this little piss ant of a demon mock him?!
He rose to his full height and dramatically threw his arms out to the side to release his wings and closed his eyes in preparation of his heavenly majesty becoming manifest on Earth.
Nothing happened.
Gabriel hesitantly cracked one eye open to see Milo still staring up at him with a worried look on his face. He craned his neck and twisted his head to look behind him. No wings.
“You have got to be fucking kidding me!” Milo was up and on his feet in a second. “Did you just try to ascend?”
Gabriel nodded numbly.
“You!” Milo’s mouth moved but no sound came out for a moment, then he burst out. “It cant be!”
Gabriel chewed his bottom lip nervously. “Ill try again.”
Again the angel threw his arms out to the side and focused every cell in his being into transforming into his heavenly form. Again, nothing happened.
Milo stared at him with wide eyes. “No!”
“Y-you try.” Gabriel stammered.
The demon clenched his hands together, gritted his teeth and tried to force his body to obey him and shift to his demonic shape. His luck was no better than Gabriel’s.
“Nooooooooooooooo!” Milo wailed.
It couldn’t be, but it was.
“We’re human.” Gabriel choked out.
“What have you done!?”
“Why would you!?”
“He will be lost without his powers!”
“If he cant change!”
“I never agreed to this!”
“I never agreed to this either!”
“I agreed to it for both of you.” The great and mighty She smiled. “Now Gabriel and Milo both have the same chance that everyone else has and its only fair that they get that chance without either of you interfering.” She shook her head. “As long as they had their powers you both would have tried to stick your noses in where they don’t belong every chance you got.”
Two petulant deities frowned up at her. Lucifer even had his lip poked out.
After a few moments of tense silence both of them opened their mouths at once to speak.
“Because I said so!” She glared and both of those mouths snapped shut.
