Class Of 98 - 11
I am now sitting on a stage on Morton West's football field but this time instead of wearing a gray cap and gown I am wearing a black one with a gold shawl. "I am proud to announce our next speaker. She is a successful computer business owner and writer. Miss. Amy Nicole Showers." Mrs. Floures says.
I get up and walk to the microphone. "Thank you Mrs. Floures. Friends, families, distinguished guest and graduates. You the Class of 2008 are the future. You are about to step in to adulthood. The very last time I was on this football field I was like you. A student waiting to become a graduate. You all have worked these past four years. You have survived through the bad times and the good. You sitting right here represent the new generation of successful people. I had to work hard in college to make up for all of the screwing around that I did in high school. I put my mind to it and I took the motto 'What I will I can' and used it and here I am today. You leave this day from J. Sterling Morton West High School and go out in to the world with what you have learned. I wish you all good luck and congratulations. Thank you." I say and the whole stadium starts clapping. I sit back down. After three more speeches I get back up to shake the hands of each graduate. When Mark gets to me I hug him. "Congratulations kid."
"Thanks." He says and walks off. An hour later we are back home having dinner outside. I sit off away from the rest of the family and my friends. Sean sees this and comes over.
"Hey. What wrong?" He asks.
"Nothing will ever be the same." I say.
"Nothing is ever the same after what you said to your family." He says.
"I love you." I say hugging him.
"I love you too." He says.
"Oh I have picked a date." I say.
"Yea, when?" He asks.
"March 2nd 2009." I say.
"Why that day?" He asks confused.
"Because it was the day I first saw you in person." I say.
Sean clears his throat. "I have an announcement to make. Amy here has finally decided on a date for the wedding. March 2nd next year." My whole family and all of my friends are up in a roll of cheering. Melissa rushes over.
"You have to let me help you plan the wedding and the honey moon." She begs.
"You were the first person I had in mind. As my first desision we are going to have it here in the U.S." I say. "Where we can be with family and friends." I say. For the rest of the day that was the preferred topic of conversation.
Later that night Sean and I sit up talking. "I think I should call the shop you call the school and tell them not to expect us for at least three months." I say.
"Fine with me but you and I cannot stay in this house with your mother." Sean says squeezing me closer to him.
"I am going to lease out a small apartment for three months and for when we come back for the wedding." I say.
"Great idea." He says. We fall asleep in each other's arms.
