Abdel sat in thought, the room quiet around him, though he wasn’t really aware of his surroundings. In his mind, he was in the middle of the cosmos, the stars and planets floating beneath him as he channeled himself, focusing on their targets. The others were still in a state of distraught over Delilah’s deeds, and were unable to concentrate on the task at hand. Should the Kithkin come at that moment, all would have been lost without having some warning. As luck would have it, they were not on their way, nor had Aziz even contacted them yet. He was still on his way there. They still had little time. The expanse of the cosmos faded, and he became aware of the room again. “The others must be told of this,” he said, standing and heading off to find them.

Aziz stood before the doorway. It was becoming an all to familiar sight, given the times he had come here recently. He took a deep breath, strolling through the doorway, looking for the one he had come to see. “Imad, are you in here?”
“You are back so soon?” Imad’s partner stood from his seat. “Why has the rich one come back to our dwelling?”
“There has been an unexpected development,” Aziz answered. “I am in need of Imad’s service again.”
“Very well.” The figure went towards the back again. “Master.” He moved through the door.
A few moment passed before Imad’s familiar black cloak came through the door.
“What brings the Sultan back to my dwelling? What complications could bother you so?” Imad hissed.
“A missing bird,” Aziz answered. “She seems to have literally flown from the nest. I am in need of you finding and retrieving her again. IF you would be so kind as to deliver her to my palace, where I have arranged a cage she shall not escape from.”
“Ah..I see.” Imad glanced over at his partner. “What?”
The other leaned over, whispering. Imad’s face hidden, none could see the expression on his face.
“Again, I see.” Imad nodded. “Retrieve my crystals.”
“Yes master.” The servant bowed before walking away.
“There’s not a problem, is there?” Aziz asked. As long as it didn’t interfere with them getting Kitten again, it didn’t matter to him what had been discussed. Such was their nature, it wasn’t important unless it concerned the current business as hand. Otherwise, it was best not knowing.
“Master.” The servant placed the crystals down. “Your crystals.”
“We will see.” Imad’s scaled hand touched the stones. “Your bird...” He hissed. “She is protected by something.” He nodded, adding a second crystal. “Let us see...”
“Protected?” That wasn’t something he was wanting to hear. It would mean that things would get complicated, and complicated meant more expensive. Though he would pay whatever, he would prefer not to have to pay more than was necessary.
“Protected by Three something’s.” Imad looked up. “A god and two jins. This does not include her own abilities.”
“A God and two Jin? What possible reason would they have for protecting her?” Aziz wondered momentarily. “Unless… the Camel herder… there was something about him. He might possibly be one of the Jin. That might explain her powers as well. Hmmm. This will take a little extra to keep her in the cage this time. You are still able to retrieve her, yes?”
“It will cost much extra.” Imad simply stated. “Very, very, very much and yes. Keeping her caged will require more than bars, sultan.”
“I will see to that. You just bring her to me.” Aziz pulled out two bags, handing them to Imad. “The rest upon delivery.” He shook his head slightly. He would make sure that she didn’t get away this time, as she was starting to cost him more than she was worth.
“I guarantee no delivery time on this one.” Imad swiped the bags up into his hands. “You will know when I have her. Now go...I have planning to do.”
Aziz nodded, heading out the door. He had planning of his own to do, as well as find someone that would be able to contain his bird with her new powers. “I shall see you when you have her, then.” He stepped outside, heading back towards more familiar parts of the city.

“What brings you here, Abdel?” A very soft, very lovely voice murmured in his ear. “Why have you come to the heavens?” It was Goddess Calypso. She represented beauty, love and compassion.
Abdel nodded and bowed before the Goddess. “I have come to find Mekiya and the others. They need to be warned on events that I have just learned of.”
“Mekiya isn’t here.” Calypso giggled and nipped his ear lobe as she circled around him. “But the others are.” He felt her hand caressing his shoulder. “My..my. You do seem so very troubled.”
“It is… a troubling situation we face.” He blinked slightly. Calypso was showing an interest in him? She hadn’t before, as until this assignment, he had never really had anything to do with her realm; faithful serving his master. He had never even thought about love, as he was only a Jin, servant to the Gods and Goddesses. Why the interest in him now. “The… uh, Kithkin are making preparations to steal Kitten away again.”
“Kitten, Kitten..” She pondered the name. “Oh, I know this one. She has the jewel of Stars with in her.” Calypso smiled and nuzzled against his cheek. “Come. We shall tell Fenrir of your news.”
Fenrir was the god of animals, such as wolves, which was his avatar symbol. Calypso came around, extending her hand to him. He could not walk the path of gods alone. However, learning about the Jewel of stars? That was something else all together. It meant that Kitten was more special than anyone knew and that her love with Rami was fated since the birth of time it’s self.
“She bears the Crest?” Abdel thought momentarily. He had wondered why Mekiya had sent him to make certain that the two fell in love. He had thought it strange at first, but never questioned the reasons of the Gods. Now, it made more sense. He wasn’t supposed to make sure they fell in love, as much as keep others from interfering. And with the way things were going, he was failing his ordered task.
“Indeed. I placed it with in her ancestors long ago so that it could mature. The crest was always meant to be with in her. Her child is the reincarnation of Stars.” Calypso led him down the illuminated path way. “Her trials that she is facing...are but simple problems which she and her guardian lover must face. It is the test of gods, my dear sweet Abdel.”
“She and Rami are to become Gods then?” It was a simple question, with no bitterness or jealousy that the made Genie was rising to powers above him. He was made Jin, a born Jin. It was all he had known, and had never thought about being anything else that the servant he was. He held her hand as they walked, lest he fall from the path. “But what of the Kithkin? Should their interference prevent them from having a child… what then?”
“In their own ways. Their child is to be the chosen goddess of Fenrir. And they will bring to an end, the dark powers that constantly haunt the heavens.” Calypso smiled as she opened a door. It took a simple motion of her hand. “Fenrir.”
“Calypso!” A boy child sat on the throne. “Hey, I know you. You are Abdel.” He grinned. “You are doing most well.”
“Thank you, Master Fenrir,” Abdel said, bowing. He didn’t think that he was doing that well, though wasn’t going to argue with the child God. After all, there were things going on of which he had no knowledge or sight of that they could see quite easily. “I hope to never let my services falter.”
“Now..Did you come to play?” Fenrir grinned.
“I don’t think he has come to play. A problem of Kithkin has arrived and...I believe he has another problem which he has not said.”
“Oh..Kithkin? You must take this stone to Rami.” He held his hand out. “The shadow wolf will seek them out and kill them.” He laughed cutely. “They like Kithkin.”
Abdel took the offered stone. “Alas, I have not the time to stop and play. Leon has been… altered, due to Delilah’s meddling, and has lost his most recent memory, going back to the time when he was as young as that which he currently appears. The other affects were stopped, but it was too late to stop this from occurring.”
“You must give him a drop of bitter root. This will bring his mind back into focus.” Calypso stepped in front of him. “We can not alter the effects of the Ambrosia juice though. That is a permanent marker of Delilah’s jealousy. But do not worry. She will have hers.”
Abdel felt her lips against his. Calypso traced a hand along his cheek and let it trail down, over his shoulder and arm. Fenrir made a face at the display. In his world, that was still considered girl cooties and he didn’t want those.
Abdel stood motionless, momentarily, before kissing her back lightly, as he didn’t want to offend her. In learning about Kitten bearing the Crest, he had forgotten about her earlier interest in him, and was a bit surprised at first, Though, he still was confused by her affections towards him. Gods and Goddess seldom had personal interest in their servants.
“You should go.” Calypso whispered against his lips. “I sense unease growing in the air.” She pulled away, smiling. There was no doubt that she was beautiful and many men wanted to hold this goddess, but none did. “Remember..just a drop of bitter root. No more, no less.”
“Bye! Come back and play!” Fenrir waved to the fading Abdel.
Abdel nodded and bowed as he faded away. She had blessed him with her kiss, and he would keep that with him always. There wasn’t time to reflect on it though, as there were things that he had to attend to. He focused, directing himself to Rami’s palace within the Amulet, that being their most likely location still.

“You’re back.” Leon sat up in the bed. He was a handsome figure in his youth. “You just disappeared earlier. I wondered what happened to you.” He felt that he knew Abdel but he couldn’t place where. “Have you seen my wife? She has not come in yet. I am getting slightly worried.”
“I… had some things to attend to,” Abdel said. “I have not seen your wife.” He hated seeing him suffer so, but at least he was honest, as he hadn’t seen the man’s wife. Now, how to get him to drink one drop of bitter root? It wouldn’t be easy to do, that was for certain. Put it in a drink? But he might not drink it all and throw it out at the taste. He would have to make sure that somehow he drank it all, and at the moment, it wasn’t looking like a pleasant prospect.
“I saw her run outside earlier. I would have followed but I am only now getting my strength back.” Leon shifted, standing from the bed. “I have to find Felicia and Kitten. She is sick and my daughter is only a day old. She needs me at her side.”
Hmmm, it was worth a try. “Oh, no you don’t. You aren’t well yourself yet.” He conjured the bottle behind his back. “Here, have your medicine first. If you are to take care of your daughter, you need to be at full capacity.”
“What?” Leon blinked. “What medicine? And ..I HAVE to get back to her. Felicia’s strength is ...weakening.”
“You will be there soon enough.” Abdel held out the bottle. “Take this first. And do not fight me, or I shall have to hold you down and force you to take it.”
“I am a grown man..” He took the bottle and opened it. “This smells like crud.” Leon shuddered as he took the drink.
It tastes even worse, Abdel thought, watching as Leon drank the concoction. He could have possibly made it taste better, but didn’t want to take any chances. He waited, watching for signs that his memory was returning to the way that it should be.
“Jesus! Abdel!” Leon coughed. “What are you trying to do? Poison me?” He looked up. “And where...hold on.” He looked at him self. “Uh, something happened, didn’t it?”
“You might say that,” Abdel replied. He took the bottle back, glancing at Leon. “All appears to be well now, for the most part. There are some things that will always be as they are now.”
“Right..where is Kitten?” He looked around. “And you can explain why I look like this, later.”
“I believe she is with Rami and Mekiya, working of fixing… well, what I just fixed. Though I must speak with them as well. Come, let us find them, they are bound to be here someplace.” Abdel turned heading off into another part of the palace.
888888888888888888888
“Kitten, sweety!” leon ran, picking his daughter up in a hug. “Thank gods you’re okay.”
“Daddy?” She smiled, hugging back. “You’re okay!” They had been in the living room, trying to think of ways to jog his memory. “What happened?”
“I think Abdel helped me.” He smiled.
“Abdel..Thank you.” Rami bowed his head. “For what ever you have done.”
“I did only what was needed,” Abdel replied. “And I can not take the credit, as…I had assistance to guide me.”
“Really?” Mekiya said. He glanced at Abdel, nodding. “Ah, I see.”
Abdel had never blushed, but the Jin was close to it now. “We… uh, have other things to worry about. Aziz has spoken to the Kithkin, and they will be coming soon. And… they know that Kitten… has powers.” He wasn’t certain if he should mention all that he was told or not. Just because it was revealed to him did not mean that it was for others to know. “And Aziz now plans to keep her for himself, and is finding a way to circumvent her abilities so that he can keep her his prisoner.”
“It won’t happen. Somehow..we will stop the Kithkin.” Rami spoke up.
“But how? They EAT magic. You guys ..me..we are ..we use magic.” Kitten frowned. “And I am getting really tired of being looked at as ..some kind of property.”
“The Kithkin, I have covered. Again, by assistance.” Abdel held the stone out to Rami. “It is said to summon a shadow wolf. At least one, perhaps others. That will take care of the Kithkin. As far as being property, well, I think there is but one solution. You become someone’s property, to an extent.” He glanced first at Kitten, and then Rami.
“What do you mean? Married? I don’t think the Kithkin or Aziz will care if I married right now him or not.” Kitten glanced at the stone. “And..isn’t a shadow wolf magic?”
“No...The stone is a magic summoning tool. The shadow wolf is from a Anti magic realm. They like Kithkin as snacks.” Rami sighed. “And I think Kitten is right. Even if we do get married right now, they won’t care.”
“True, they might not care, but… together, I believe that the two of you will be stronger than if you are apart.” Abdel moved to an empty chair, sitting. “Much like a cut stone. Alone, strong and powerful, but easily removed and put to whatever use is deemed necessary. But when placed with another and bound together, they become stronger, more steadfast. The beginnings of a house, and a house has but one purpose, it can not be made anything else.”
“So you’re saying we do a quicky wedding with vows right now? But..we don’t have apriest here or anything.” Kitten, of course, was forgetting about the god that was in the room. “So we would have to find one.”
“I think he means to have our godly friend , Mekya, to be the..priest.” Rami suggested.
“I believe Rami is correct and you two could have a bigger wedding, after the fact.” Leon spoke up. “Something more..American and..for me. I guess I am too used to our traditions to give them up.”
“Precisely,” Abdel said. “Who more fitting that Mekiya to officiate the ceremony? And there is nothing wrong with traditions,” he added.
“And nothing like having a God marry you to say ‘These two are meant to be together, do not try to separate’,” Mekiya added, chuckling. “Would you want to try to change something that a God has made?”
“If he wants me.” Kitten looked up at Rami.
“Of course I want you.” Rami smiled, kissing her. “I want to have you and have many children with you. We will make your father feel old even if he can’t look old.” Rami chuckled.
“Thanks.” Leon laughed. “I appreciate that remark.”
Abdel glanced at them, confused. Having not been human, humor was something that he had never grasped completely. Well, most emotions he didn’t quite grasp, even though he knew what they were. But there is a world of difference between knowing something and feeling it. “Am I missing something? I do not see why everyone seems to find Leon’s lack of aging humorous.”
“It’s a human thing, Abdel.” Leon patted his shoulder. “Lets go prepare for a wedding then.”
“Yeah..” Kitten smiled, looking at Rami still. “Wedding..lots of children.” her cheeks were slowly turning red.
“Lots and lots.” Rami leaned forward and kissed her again.
