For a moment I just stood there in disbelief. Brice was sitting in my living room on my couch, with my parents on either side of him. When he saw me enter the room he slowly put down his cookie, and glass of milk. Everything seemed like it was going in slow motion.

“Well there she is, we were hoping you would be home soon,” My mother said when our eyes met. She then looked over at my father and said, “honey I need some help in the kitchen.” I stood there and watched them quickly head down the hall to the kitchen.

Brice slowly rose form his spot on the couch. He had that smirk on his face I had been dreaming about for the last few weeks. “Hey,” he said while he put his hands in his pockets.

“Hey,” I said dumbly still trying to figure out what in the hell was going on. “What are you doing here…I mean how …..um…what are you doing here.”

Laughing that unmistakable laugh he said, “ Well, I got a very interesting call this morning from my dad.”
“Your dad?” I questioned.
“Yea, he said that he got a letter for me, but he couldn’t figure out why, someone was sending a letter there, when the return address was from the same town I live in.” he tried to explain.

I just stared at him for a moment, letting it all sink in. The time at the restaurant, when I thought I saw him, I actually had seen him. And the movies. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. All this time I had been thinking it was useless to even think about Brice, he had been only fifteen minutes away from me. Feeling a little light headed, I walked of to the end of the couch and plopped down. I felt the couch shift when Brice took a seat beside me. I felt his eyes burning into me, but I could not bring myself to look at him. I just gazed at the floor.

“Well, I thought you would be happy to see me,” I could hear the disappointment in his voice.
“I am, I am, but this is just so……I think I am in shock, I never expected to see you again.” I told him honestly still looking at the mauve colored carpet.

I felt the couch shift again when he scooted closer to me. I shivered when I felt him brush my hair away from my face and tuck it behind my ear. Gently he grabbed my chin and turned my face in his direction. When my gaze fell upon his soft brown eyes, all of the memories from our one night together came flooding back at once. I loved the feel of the tips of his fingers against my cheek. I slowly turned my head and placed a light kiss in the palm of his hand. Smiling I said, “I just can’t believe you’re here.” Blushing I added, “ I have been thinking about you none stop for the past three weeks, and now you’re here.”
When he inched closer to me, I felt my stomach drop. This was really happening I realized. Brice was …… here, not only that, he lived here.
“I’ve been thinking about you too,” he whispered before he kissed me. My eyes fluttered closed as our lips danced together. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him close. I felt a bolt of electricity go down my spine when our tongues touched. In fact my whole body felt as if it were on fire. Playfully I sucked his bottom lip in to my mouth when I heard my mother clear her throat.

Startled we both jumped and looked at my mother. I’m sure our expressions looked like a deer caught in headlights. The amused look on my mothers face made me stammer, “Mom, this is…um…Brice…he is um…um…”

She interrupted, “Brice, would you like to stay for dinner?”
He let out a nervous laugh and looked at me, “Sure….I’d love too.”
Flashing me a smile she said, “Good.” Turning on her heel she added over her shoulder, “It will be ready in about an hour.”

“Well that was awkward,” I said when I knew she was out of hearing distance.
“Yea, it was,” He agreed as he leaned back into the couch, pulling me with him. “It was worth it though,” he added wrapping his arm around my shoulders.

Now, this felt right. I fit perfectly into the curve of his arm. At that moment I knew there was no other guy for me. Clarissa was right, some things are just ment to be.

Dinner proved to be eventful. Of course my parents wanted to know every detail of how we met, and how Brice came to live in Burson. I was happy that my parents really seemed to like him. I was also impressed at how Brice handled all of the questions thrown at him. When I looked across the table at him, I couldn’t help but feel complete. Like the part of me that was missing had been found. I still couldn’t believe that he was here, and would be here for a long time. I felt like the luckiest girl in the world.

The evening went by rather quickly, and I had no idea how I was going to bring myself to let him go again. Now I knew he was just a few miles away, but still it was going to be hard to watch him leave. Brice and I excused ourselves from the dinner table and walked outside to say our goodbyes.

Once we were out in the cool night air I practically pounced on him. With my arms wrapped around is neck, and my legs around his waist, he hooked his hands around my thighs and carried me to the bed of his truck and gently sat me down.

“You know something,” I asked not expecting and answer, “I told my friend Clarissa that if I ever saw you again that I would snatch you up and never let you go, so I guess you’re kind-of stuck with an extra appendage.”

Squeezing me tightly he replied, “I think I could defiantly get used to having you hanging around.”

I was relieved we could pick up where we left off. As I sat on the tailgate of his truck, with my legs and arms still wrapped around him a picture of Lucas flashed in my mind. I knew I had to tell Brice about him, but I didn’t know how. Slowly I released my grip, and looked at the ground hoping the right words would magically appear. Of course they didn’t, damn it, how did I get my self into these situations. Evidently Brice could tell I had something on my mind. He took a small step back and lifted my chin to meet my stare. “What is it,” he asked with a concerned look on his face.

I took a deep breath and prepared myself to tell him everything, if this was going to work I had to be honest from the start. “Well,” I began, “since I have been home I have kinda started seeing this guy.” He nodded his head urging me to go on. “It’s nothing serious, but I wanted to let you know it is something I have to deal with. I mean,” I shyly looked into his eyes for understanding, “I have to let him know that I am no longer……available.”

Chuckling he said, “Damn, your not that fucking sucks.”
Smiling at him I swatted his arm, “In your case I am willing to make an exception.” With that I ran my fingers through his dark brown hair and pulled his face toward mine. When our lips touched it was like fire works went off in my heart. It felt like our first kiss all over again. The kiss began soft and slow, gently pecking each other. It soon intensified sending shutters of pleasure throughout my body. I had never felt so connected to another person. I hope this feeling never ends.

After we said goodbye I just stood and watched his truck drive away, until I could no longer see the tail lights. Then I turned to walk in my house to make two phone calls, one to my bestest friend in the whole wide world, and another to a guy I thought I would always want.
