Syrus found his husband pacing their respective bedroom. He went over slowly and wrapped a pair of strong arms around him. His husband turned in his arms and pressed a pouty kiss to his mouth.

“I’m not fat…am I Syrus?”

“No you’re not love. You’re beautiful.” Syrus let his hand stroke Ainu’s already enlarged tummy. He nuzzled his neck and then pressed a kiss to his forehead. “Father has had Cortax send away. He wont be able to come anywhere near you anymore.”

“Send away?! SEND AWAY?! ARE YOU COMPLETELY OUT OF YOU MIND?!” Ainu had pushed him away and started pacing again.

“What do you mean Ainu? You’re the one who lost his temper; you told him we were married.”

“Yes but are you mad? He’s going to tell his father and the armies haven’t been gathered yet, none of our armies are in Taur Nihl! Do you realise what the implications are?”

“Oh…oh Ainu, father and I did not think about that. We will ready the armies straight away.” Ainu frowned and paced some more. “Don’t frown so, if you hadn’t been so rash with your proclamation…”

“If you hadn’t been so rash with your decision of sending him away!”

“He was a threat to my baby!”

“I’m perfectly capable of looking after OUR baby!”

“So loosing your temper is being perfectly capable now is it?!”

“Since no one stood up for me when he called me fat!”

“You lost your temper so fast no one had the chance. And you have grown rather large around the middle considering you’re only in your second month!”

“Are you saying I’m fat Syrus?” There was a dangerous glint in Ainu’s eye and little blue sparks fell from his hands. Syrus being both sharp eyed and sharp witted caught on before he caused another tantrum to erupt from Ainu.

“No my sweet little angel.” He cooed, pressing kisses to Ainu’s neck. “I’m just wondering if you should be so large at this time in your pregnancy.” Ainu pouted and let himself be placated by the gentle kisses of his husband.

“But what are we going to do? We need to gather the armies now and move! My country will be under attack…our country will be under attack.” Syrus couldn’t bear to see those beautiful emerald eyes swimming with tears.

“Then I will go and fight beside my men for our country.”

“Syrus….”

“One of us must Ainu and I will not have you fighting in your condition.”

“But I want you there for the birth; can’t you go and fight then? My father can fight at the head of our armies. Please Syrus, I want you to at least see our baby…please.”

“Ainu…”

“Please Syrus don’t leave me before the birth. We can both travel to Taur Nihl and stay in the palace until the baby is born.”

“Ainu…don’t you think it would be best if you travelled to your mother’s kingdom?”

“Why?”

“Well firstly, does anyone in Taur Nihl know how you’re going to give birth and take care of you?”

“No.”

“Exactly. And secondly you can find out more about your magic, maybe even find someone to teach you. Faye can come with us and keep you company. She’ll be more then pleased to get out and see the world.” Ainu pouted, then he sulked and then he had to admit to the fact that his husband was correct, but he didn’t have to like it. He sat down heavily, the extra weight at the front already starting to bother him. Syrus moved round and massaged Ainu’s shoulders.

“We should leave as soon as possible. I will give the order that all available men are to be ready by tomorrow evening.” He placed a kiss on Ainu’s cheek. “And you and Faye shall travel to your mother’s kingdom.”

“You as well Syrus, you have to be there for the birth.” He clutched onto Syrus hand and his eyes brimmed with tears again, he hated being so damn emotional. Syrus patted his head and placed another kiss on his cheek.

“Yes alright, I’ll come with you. Promise to not have anymore temper tantrums though.”

“I promise.”

“Good. Start packing your things, so that we can leave in the morning.” He placed a chaste kiss on Ainu’s mouth and left quickly to give orders to the gathering army. “Oh and I got some chocolate for you Ainu.”

“Oh Syrus.” Slinging his arms around Syrus’ neck, Ainu started to pepper his face with kisses, “you are the best you know that.” Laughing Syrus extracted himself from his over enthused husband and made his way towards the barracks.

…………………………………………………………………………………….

“A SHIP!” The shout echoed through the hidden city. The Lord of the city made his way up to the parapet and looked out over the water. He was more then surprised to see and elvin ship come sailing towards his city. It had been a long time since his people had, had any contact with the elves. The ship sailed into the harbour and Lord Keenan made his way downwards.

Three people stood at the stern of the ship. He smiled as he spotted the blonde figure between the two darker haired ones. The boy looked remarkably like his younger sister, which meant that he had to be her son. She had send him news right after the boy had been born, but then nothing had ever come again until he had heard through the grapevine that she had died. He maybe should have taken up contact with his nephew but he had never really approved of his sister marrying the non magical King auf Taur Nihl and so had broken off all contacts; by the look of his nephew now it seemed he was looking for aid in a specific area.

“Greetings!” The dark haired man next to his nephew raised his hand, placed it over his heart and bowed deeply. “We wish to speak with the Lord of the Hidden City.”

“You are speaking to him my lord elf. What is your business here?”

“My Lord, we have come for aid from you and your people. My husband is with child and we are not to sure how the birthing process is meant to happen.” Lord Keenan smiled and gestured for them all to come down off the ship. The ramp was lowered and the three people descended. He turned towards the blonde figure and smiled again.

“You look just like my sister. You must be little Ainu.” Ainu’s face registered shocked emotions, he hadn’t been prepared for this.

“Yes I’m Ainu. My mother was your sister? That means you’re my…”

“Yes I’m your uncle. In which month are you?”

“I’m half way through my second uncle…”

“Keenan. Well, we must get you to see one of the healers and a midwife. But why don’t you introduce me to your two companions first.” Ainu blushed, having completely forgotten his manners.

“This is my husband Prince Syrus of Tira Dahn.” He smiled at Syrus and lent slightly against him. “And this is a good friend of ours Lady Faye, she will be staying with me after the birth because Syrus will need to join our troops in Taur Nihl.”

Keenan nodded and then gestured for all three of them to follow him. His manor was situated in the middle of the city, it was a beautiful house, the slightly gothic architecture adding to the overall magical feel of the place. The inside were beautifully decorated, the walls were painted with myths and legends that surrounded their world. Candles lit the way through the corridor that led to the main room. The main room was spacious, full of comfortable looking chairs and settees.

“Please sit down. I will have some tea brought.”

“Uncle Keenan, just some water for me please.” Ainu rested his hands on his stomach. “I’m feeling slightly ill again today, it must have been the ride on the boat combined with my condition.” He nodded and told the servant to change one tea to water.

“Now tell me, what has happened to bring you here? Did your mother not instruct you with what would happen? How you were to take care of yourself?”

“No uncle, she died when I was 5 years old. I don’t know how anything will work, or these powers that I have. Or generally anything!” Ainu winced as the baby inside him kicked.

“Alright, first things first you will see a healer, what month did you say you were in? Nearly end of your third?” Ainu shook his head.

“Half way through my second.” His uncle raised and eyebrow.

“You are extraordinary large for someone not even in their third month. I shall have the healer called immediately.” He rang a bell and another servant appeared. “Please call Lexus; he must look at my nephew. And take him to my sister’s old room.” The servant bowed and hurried out. “Ainu, Lexus is the head healer of the city, he will look at you. You can have your mother’s room during your stay here and of course your husband will join you there. Lady Faye will stay in one of our guest rooms.”

“Thank you uncle Keenan.” Ainu groaned as he rose from his seat, the vast weight at the front not making it any easier for him. Syrus placed a gentle arm around his shoulders and silently supported him; he understood Ainu’s wish to be independent yet he could not bring himself to let his husband fend all for himself. He watched him yawn, even the slightest excersion seemed to tire him now.

“Soon you can sleep my little angel.” He pressed a kiss to Ainu’s temple and stroked a stray lock of silver blonde hair out of his face. Pressing a grateful kiss to Syrus’ cheek, Ainu lend into the supporting arm. He was already exhausted and he still had a month to go! How did women cope with nine months of this? A servant appeared led the way to their room. They were told to wait for the arrival of the healer.
