Chapter 10

Chapter 010: Xasthur :

Jasper spent little time camping. They only rested the horses when the horses needed it, and only took very little rest and rations for themselves. Jasper's body was still sore and being in the saddle most of the week didn't help anything. He was relieved when they had reached the corpse strewn battlefield of fifteen years ago.

He rode hard towards the great city of Xasthur. The walls were closed to them, and he could tell that a great army now held the city. Jasper knew that the army was in all likelihood King Tokkli's army. Despite all this at the back of the Stormblade's youth mind were questions. Questions such as , Is Rosenbrim still alive? If he is then what does the enemy want with him? Why didn't Rosenbrim let me kill the witch? These questions and other thoughts of the dark haired wizard filled Jasper's unconscious mind.

Jasper shouted up to the sentry standing in the watchtowers over looking the main gate, "Open the gate! I am Jasper Stormblade. I have come to speak with King Tokkli, and failing that perhaps someone whom could convey my message to the King."

The Sentry shouted down, "We shall neither open our gate nor mince further words with you, traitor Stormblade. We know of your brother and his foul deeds to our kingdoms! Go hence from here and trouble us no more; least you find yourself at the sharp end of a spear!"

Jasper was silent. He made a gesture towards Johan. The novice warrior only nodded his head. What passed between them in this simple communaction was unknown to the sentries that guarded the walls of Xasthur.

*********************

Long golden strands of silk like hair flowed over the breastplate of the warrior. His fiery blue eyes locked with those deep brown eyes of King Tolkki.

A devious, half smirk on the long haired blond's lips as he reported, "My lord some insects of HammerFall have broken into Xasthur. Is this not proof enough of their vile intentions towards Stratsovara. They are assasins that King Elmgrim has sent to slay you. There can be no doubt in this."

King Tolkki's index finger curled about in his long wavy locks as he thought heavily upon the matter. He was silent and then looked towards his one of his guards. But he knew they would agree with Lord Kotipelli of Eastling Village.

Tolkki pulled his finger from his wavy hair; letting the curl fall away, "Find them, and have them brought to me alive for execution. I would like to see the faces of those foolish enough to assault me while I am at my full strength here in Xasthur."

He bowed his head, "It shall be as you order, my King Tolkki." Kotipelli stood up and moved out with some of the guards that had stood viligence in the throne room.
