Chapter 40- Battle of Darkness: Part 2
Yes, we are coming up to the end... but rest assured, that\'s still a few more chapters ahead. So until then, please enjoy this one!
Chapter 40
Aivon, John, and Jessica watched Hieas stand still, as he waited, like everyone else, for what Midas had in store.
\"So...\" Hieas said, after some time, \"you can use the legendary Shadowwalk technique... Interesting.\"
John was perplexed. \"Aivon, what\'s this \'Shadowwalk\'?\"
\"Shadowwalk...\" Aivon began, very serious looking, \"is a rare technique, that few know. It\'s powers let a person become one with the shadows, making it impossible to hurt him or her. However, it can put terrible strain on the body if used too much or inexpertly. Moreover, it requires alot of magic power to use the longer you stay hidden, making it near impossible to cast magic. It\'s mostly used to escape traps and such, but I\'ve heard you can use it for sneak attacks.\"
Hieas merely laughed. \"Yes, but his Shadowwalk is not fully mastered... as far as I know, only one person ever completely mastered the powers of Shadowwalk. However...\" Hieas swung his ax and a sound of metal crashing on metal was heard, as Midas reappeared and was thrown back. He had tried to strike with his daggers, but Hieas had countered. \"Your Shadowwalk leaves a faint trail of magic... which means I may not be able to hurt you, but I can follow your movements.\"
Midas easily landed on his feet, but he seemed to be tired out. Indeed the combined efforts to maintain his \'Shadowwalk\' skill and Hieas\' timely counter to his attack, seemed to drain him. \"Damn... I thought for sure that would work.\"
\"Too bad Midas. Now then...\" Hieas raised his hand. \"Water Column.\" The torrent of water shot out again, but Midas still had the energy to dodge the attack.
\"Wind bomb!\" Midas focused his wind element energy into a sphere, and John remembered how easily this attack, once used by Atrois, defeated Aivon\'s \'Earth Wall\' defense. The blast shot out to Hieas, who once again raised his ax. With a mighty swing, he sliced the energy attack in two, protecting himself. \"No way! How\'s that possible!?\"
\"Fool. Aqua Burst!\" Three pillars of water rose up around Hieas, twisted around and launched at Midas. Midas tried to use his \'Air Shield\' to defend, but after a few moments struggle, Hieas\' attack broke through and slammed Midas back into the wall. Midas\' body fell foward, hitting the ground hard.
\"Midas!\" Jessica rushed to his aid, while John and Aivon prepared for battle.
\"You saw what power I possess. Now perhaps you\'ll consider joining me.\"
\"Never! I\'ll never join with the likes of you!\" John said furiously.
\"Then, you shall perish. Water Column!\" He raised his hand, letting the column of water shoot out. John placed his hands on the floor. \"Fire Pillar!\" An eruption of flame burst forth, just as the water approached. The fire and water combined created a steam that covered the area blocking sight. \"Impressive... I never expected you to use this most cleverly... However.\" He thrust out his hand, in time to catch John around the neck, who tried to use the steam as a way to use a close up spell. \"Your energy trial clearly gave you away. I expected better fro-\" But his talking was soon stopped when he felt a pain in the back of his head, as Aivon\'s clawed fist smashed into his skull. He had clealy forgotten Aivon was fighting too.
This momentary strike gave John the chance he needed. Focusing, he raised his hand to Hieas\' face. \"Flare Storm!\" Several bursts of fire shot out striking Hieas down. Aivon moved out of the way quickly, and set himself next to John. \"Nice work Aivon!\"
\"Good work. You knew he\'d track your energy and forgot about me...\"
\"Impressive... most impressive... but now, I think it\'s time for me to get serious.\" Hireas raised his axe and slammed it down. The force of it created a powerful shockwave, which Aivon and John had to move quickly to avoid. They barely had time to land, when another shockwave came, this time to Aivon.
\"Earth Wall!\" A wall of earth rose, but the shockwave simply destroyed it, knocking Aivon back. \"Damn it... how is this possible...\"
\"I expect such weakness froma human, not a demon. But then, your only a lowly half demon, aren\'t you? Yes, that makes perfect sense.\"
\"Gaia Strike!\" Aivon placed his hands on the ground, fury burning in his body. Powerful energy shot out from the ground, heading to Hieas. Hieas merely sent another shockwave at it, causing a fissure in the ground where the two energies met. John had taken this moment to jump up and try to strike with his sword. Hieas blocked with his axe, as the blade crashed against it. Hieas and John pushed together, until John placed his hand on the axe itself.
\"Fire Pillar!\" The burst of flame shot out from under Hieas, enveloping him. John pulled back away, until the flame became water and receded away to nothingness.
\"Unreal... Your no ordinary Destined, that\'s for sure.\"
John looked at him hard. He was the start... \"Once I beat you, Beras is next.\"
\"Did someone call my name?\"
Suddenly, to everyone\'s surprise, Beras emerged from the shadows. He looked over the scenes of battle, just as Midas was starting to get his second wind. \"Well, it looks like your having fun.\"
\"Beras! I told you not to interefere! This had better be important!\" Hieas roared at him, taking his gaze away from John and the others for a moment.
\"Oh but it is. It\'s much more important then your little \'playtime\' with these people...\" Beras raised his hand. Inside of it was a small orb, with bright green flames inside of it, dancing around. \"Your final Key... has arrived.\"
