Chapter Eleven

((Oh wow... well, did we make it through that in one piece?

Before AFF eats the reviews, let me respond! :)

Kikvws: You are so awesome.. I totally love seeing your name in the reviews! And Sean and his gay issues. Aweee! He's so cute, isn't he? Plenty of time has run on by and I'm not sure just yet how I'm going to manage all of that. I have a sneaking suspicion I had designs on a few of the boys, but that is all past so I have to think up new designs. (P.S. - don't give up on Sean yet!)

Haywire: I agree. Chance really needs to move on. He needs more experiences so he's not mooning over ol' Jack. Besides.. Jack's a bit too full of himself to be able to just waltz into little Chancey's life and declare his place. Silly boy. And you know how much I care about what you have to say! Thank you sooo much for the feedback!

Alisha: Hopefully this remains.. plot driven. I have an idea and sometimes ideas are hard to get to work out without bogging down. But with AFF finally back up, maybe I can give it another go! We'll see what a few months off of the story has done for it! Eep!

ALSO: I'm no longer switching back and forth. I feel like Jack dear has sort of worked out his life to an extent. He's boring right now :P so I'm going to leave him alone because Chancey is having all of the adventures. So this chapter is from Chance's point of view.

And for now, thank you for returning to...

Left Turn

The whoop rang through the dorm halls. Chance sat up from his bed, pushing Jarred off of him and accidentally off of the narrow bed as the door slammed open. The blonde haired boy let out a soft "unf!" as he sprawled on the floor, his shirt half up his belly from where Chance had been shyly moving into new areas with his boyfriend.

The tall athletic young man entering the room didn't seem to even notice him. Jarred stared in shock as he leapt across the bed to grasp Chance by the shoulders and shaking him. "He's coming! He's coming! He's coming! He is com-ing, holy shit!!"

Chance stared at Sean and then gasped in laughter as Sean hugged him and jumped up and down at the same time, a difficult feat considering Chance was not only shorter than Sean but also sitting down.

Sean pulled back. "Spring break. You know, baybee, this is gonna be totally awesome! You gotta go with me to pick him up. I've only got a week, but oh my gosh, this is so cool. He just left me an email and told me all about it. That's two weeks. Chance, how fucking cool is this?"

Chance laughed and glanced at where Jarred was staring at the other boy manhandling the boy he had been trying to manhandle - though in a far different way, granted. Chance shrugged and patted Sean's back, breathing as he was finally released. Sean still held his arms though and he knelt before him.

"Who.." Chance laughed, "Who is coming?"

"Hello? Haven't you been listening? Shit, you're supposed to be my friend!" Sean's grin was looking like it could have split his face in two.

"I've been listening. Jarred, you've been listening, have you heard him say a name yet?"

Sean spun and stared at the other guy on the ground beside him, staring at him from a kind, confused face. "Woah.. shit.. oh, damn. Um. Jarred?" His face swept clear and then took on a tone of abject embarrassment. "Oo, hey, were you guys.. I mean.. oh never mind, don't tell me, I don't wanna know." He stood, moving away and watched Chance giggle and reach to help Jarred off of the floor, the two boys standing.

"Hey," Jarred said, brushing his hands on his pants before holding them out. Sean stared at the hands and his mind flew to a few places that they never really ought to have, something along the lines of just where those hands had been and why they'd need to b-

Sean took Jarred's hand and grinned cockily. "Hey. I'm Sean, blundering, stupid ass best friend. And you're the boyfriend, or date or whatever, shit, I don't know how to do this. Sorry."

Chance laughed as Jarred took Sean in and then took his hand back. "No problem," he said with a soft smile and a wary glance. "I should.. umm, go," he jerked his finger at the door and stooped to get his shoes.

"Oh no! No, don't worry about me, I'll go," Sean was quick to say. "You guys can get back to everything.. I mean.. well to... damn. Look, you guys ever heard of the sock on the doorknob? Shit!"

"We hadn't gotten anywhere that required that," Chance looked up at Sean in amusement. "No one's clothes had come off."

Sean shook his head. "Chance, you're getting... worldly. Man, that scares me I will have you know. Hey, so you can come with me when I go to the airport?"

"Who is coming again?"

"Neil!" Sean's eyes danced again, despite the unease of the situation, finding his joy rather quickly again.

"Who's Neil?" Jarred asked, settling onto the desk chair and dragging his trainers on.

"Sean's best friend. Besides me," Chance answered. "He's in England right now. When is he coming in, Sean?"

"Two weeks, the Saturday before break. Look, if you guys have something going on...?" Sean looked at Jarred helpfully, but the mouse like boy smiled and shook his head. It was weird seeing them sitting there, looking more like study buddies than - well, the other kind of buddy.

"I have to head to my folks' house," Jarred interjected. "So I'm leaving on Friday."

Chance nodded. "And I'm leaving for home on Monday, so that would be just fine. I'd love to go with you." He wondered if in the end, Sean wouldn't want time alone with Neil, but Sean had asked and it would be rude to say otherwise. Besides, maybe Sean needed backup for the first meeting after having found out so many important things about Neil - mainly his sexual orientation and his HIV status.

Sean nodded. "Great. Thanks. Sorry for .. umm.. well, interrupting and.." he waved his hand and quickly made a mumbled "Nice to meet you finally, Jarred," escape, closing the door behind him.

Jarred stared after and then chuckled, turning back to Chance. "Well, that was... interesting to say the least." Then he moved to the door and locked it this time. "So, umm.." he lifted a brow and gave a grin, his somewhat drab face turning mischievous and sweet at the same time, a look that had Chance floored every time he got it.

Chance thought about it later, when he was held in arms as Jarred leaned back against the door to the dorm room and his lips were being plundered, about how he'd come to be so lucky. Guys like Jarred didn't exist. It hadn't taken long to realize that. They were always pushy or ultra femmy or...well, being human wasn't easy to begin with. And being gay atop that produced some really weird behaviors. Or maybe - maybe it was just guys in general. Girls were always complaining about how a good guy was hard to find. And here, he'd found one.

He couldn't have said that Jarred was a close friend or the answer to his heart's desire. Jarred was more of those slow fires that you have to get close to often enough to get yourself warm, have to keep feeding to build it up. It was nice, nice to have someone nice. Jarred was the kind of guy that Chance could get used to having around, polite, dear, gentle, and with a nice sexy smirk when he knew things were going to get close.

Too bad there wasn't fire every time, but it wasn't like everyone could be what he'd imagined his first to be like, what his first had ended up being. It wasn't like, everyone was going to look at him like Jack had that ni-

"Chance?"

Chance opened his eyes and sighed, staring into Jarred's eyes. "Hmm?"

Jarred smiled. "You're somewhere else. Sometimes you do that. You forget I'm here." Jarred's hand rose to brush Chance's hair back from his face. "It's kind of nice to have the guy you're kissing know who he's kissing, huh?"

Chance flushed and then laughed. "Sorry, I... " He wasn't sure how to explain. "Sometimes.. I get to remembering." He didn't know well enough to not tell the truth but once it was out, he felt shame for saying it. Jarred should have more.

"No problem," Jarred smiled. "I think everyone gets to remembering sometimes." He fit his hands around Chance's hips and spreading is legs to either side, tugged Chance in against him. "Just... come back when you're done with Mr. Memory, kay?" His sweet voice tore at Chance's chest.

Chance laughed softly and then leaned in for a kiss, wrapping his arms around Jarred's neck and pulling him in close. They really hadn't ever gone past kissing, but the kisses were always so sweet, so loving. What had he been doing, thinking about someone else with this man in his life? "Definitely," he promised as he held himself close and lost himself in the boy he was with then - letting thoughts of his boyhood crush and that trip to another world all laze out of his existence, dissipating like the dream it really was. This, this was reality, the feel of Jarred's chest under his fingers as his boyfriend's shirt disappeared, then sense of equality as Jarred, instead of pushing him or picking him up, merely took his hand and led him to the bed.

Chance arched under the kiss on his belly. "Sock..sock.." he breathed and Jarred's laughter rung low.

"I don't think we'll have to worry about that, but if you want."

Chance watched the bare chested boy go to the door, peer out through the opened crack and then hang a sock on the knob, closing it behind him and locking it again.

He wasn't perfect. But then, neither was Chance. And there was something, perfect about the pair of them together. It was comfortable.

Okay, not so comfortable, Chance surmised as Jarred knelt beside the bed and trailed his fingers down Chance's chest, his stomach, to where his jeans' snap was while at the same time, lowering his head to kiss his jaw.

No - not comfortable at all. Wonderful. Chance's fingers curled into Jarred's hair, his eyes open to slits as, for the first time, his clothing was opened and gently taken from him, as, for the first time - he was laid bare to Jarred.

"I.. don't know if.." he stuttered.

Jarred's finger brushed his lips. "Shh. I'm not ready myself." He smiled. "But it's another step in the right direction." And with a certain gentle control that only men of a caliber that Chance couldn't have said existed, Jarred lightly presses him back to the bed and with little prefacing, took Chance's erection in his mouth.

Chance hadn't had anyone touch him, but for a moment or two of heavy petting with Star that he hadn't been ready for. Somehow, he hadn't any such qualms with Jarred and his hand fell to catch at Jarred's hair, lightly delving in against the other's scalp as he lifted his body into that hot mouth and sighed. "What.. about...you..." he gasped.

Jarred's head rose and he laughed softly as he licked his lips. "I just want to do this... Just let me, okay?" His eyes flitted over Chance and he sighed. "You are so... so gorgeous like this," he said and there was a sadness as well as a delight in his voice.

Chance was certain that he could have asked a question right then, to know what caused the sadness in Jarred's voice, but Jarred's mouth was put to other uses and he couldn't remember anything anymore.
