Command Protocol

This took quite a while to write. Geh.

Read, Review and Enjoy.

By the afternoon Rel was feeling more like himself. He dabbled with the control unit, but after telling all the nanobots to go out and convert everyone and adjust their own firewall protocols to protect themselves… he didn’t really have much to do.

His bots spread from the city and small clusters to nearly everywhere in the globe. Rel didn’t own all the bots of the world, just enough to say that he had a bot almost everywhere. The bots happily went about their businesses. Though Rel saw no sign of Raya attacking and was mildly confused.

What was the boy doing?

Biding his time, but for what?

By the time Rel was fully back to himself he had made a very strange decision. He decided to test his bots by shutting off the power whoever they were. Just a minor glitch to a good deal of the electrical systems. Or. So the people would think.

He also considered laughing evilly as he instructed his bots to shut the lights off. Not, cut off the electrical supply, just shut the lights off, then turn them back on. When he sent out the command to shut the lights off, however. He was sorely disappointed.

Oh. It worked. It did. Most definitely. But the moment the electricity came back on, his bots lost their tiny electrical minds and went buzzing about. He sent an inquiring command as to what in the hells they thought they were doing.

Initiating command protocol 178-995-B

That didn’t sound good. Rel snatched up his laptop as Muan glared at Ashun and Ashun pretended not to notice the upset male. Rel settled back on the couch and hit the on button to the computer before he finally looked up and took in his surroundings.

Muan uncomfortable, Mn looking very pleased with herself, Ashun seemingly ignoring Muan and Raoh and Osht… when had they gotten back? Curled up under the television set, napping. None of them seemed the least bit affected by the fact that the lights had gone out for thirty seconds. They didn’t even seem the least bit disturbed that after said black out, Rel automatically rushed to his laptop.

Rel waited impatiently as the computer loaded, then logged into the forum. Where, surprise, surprise, Raya was.

“What the fuck?” Rel typed into the chat box.

“I know! The power just went out then came back on. All across the board. Shut down our security systems in the tech building.”

“My bots are doing something.”

“You have bots?” There was a long pause as Rel puzzled at the screen, then, “I don’t see them…”

Because of the secondary command center. The original owners of the bots technically still had control. But Rel could usurp the bot at any time to do with as he pleased.

That kind of sounded dirty.

“What are they doing? Command protocol,” Rel had to double check the number, “178-995-B. What is it?”

“… one moment please…”

Rel blinked at the screen, then at the reeling of numbers across the control unit’s screen. His laptop beeped, drawing his attention back to the chat box.

“They are creating a marker, I can see where your bugs are now… impressive security system.”

“Oh, don’t-” too late. His control unity went into a panicked beeping. Gods be damned, “why?”

“Because you left a flaw. Oh, and it’s a game, did you forget?”

“Pisser.”

“All’s fair in game and such.” Raya murmured, “have to go, tutors calling.”

Raya logged off and Rel cursed. Swore. And finally sighed and shut down the laptop. He tapped out some commands to the remaining nanobots as Raya attempted to completely wipe him out. A quick smack reversed the firewall and stopped Raya for the time being. He tried rerouting the firewall directly to the internet, thus making a thinking firewall that would adapt with each post made online. But that backfired and wiped out half his nanobots as Raya swept in through an ISP service provider.

Mn snatched the control unit out of Rel’s hands and jabbed at the screen several times before she handed it back, “people technology is like watching the stars.”

Both included numbers?

Rel glanced at the screen. Mn had set up a binary coded system. Binary code hadn’t been used in decades. Decades. But it seemed to confuse Raya’s workings. The Tele heir was stuck and Rel still had a good number of bots, concentrated mainly in the city.

“Uhm. Thanks?”

“Deal with him?” Mn motioned to Muan and moved to the windows that faced the sun, sitting and bathing in the light of the day.

Rel glanced at Muan. The male huffed out and slipped off the couch, moving towards Rel. Ashun stepped between Muan and Rel and plopped into Rel’s lap as if she owned him. Technically, Rel thought, Ashun did own him, what with her being his mother. However. Female sitting in his lap.

Rel pushed Ashun off his lap unceremoniously, but Muan had already moved away. The male was growling to himself, tense and upset.

“Muan-”

“Leave him be,” Mn muttered, “he’s not as stupid as he looks, he knows she’s not going to stop until she gets what she wants.”

“What do you mean…” Rel glared at Ashun, “what did you do to him?”

“Blackmailed him.”

“Are males just slaves to you two? Use them how you like and then toss them aside?”

“No,” Ashun mumbled, picking at the knee of her pants.

“Well she drugged me to get what she wanted and now you. You went and blackmailed him.”

“But I want to grow up. I don’t want to be a kid any more,” Ashun said, blinking up at Rel with big, watery eyes.

Obviously this was a sore spot. Ashun’s emotion was real. She wanted to grow up. She wanted to be like everyone else her age.

Rel sighed and flopped against the back of the couch. “females.”

“Males,” Mn responded in the same tone.
