Real Deal

Wrote this in twenty minutes. I still say there has to be more to Galt's annoyance than just impersonation, but that's just me.

Read, Review and Enjoy

“Where is he?” Galt snapped.

Rel tapped out keys on the control unit, trying to look bored and trying to hack through the government firewall to gain a more complete access to Galt’s bots, “Who’s that you’re looking for?”

“Una the impersonator.”

“He’s the real deal,” Mari murmured, then paused to sip her tea before continuing, “he and Muan were roughhousing and Muan accidentally broke his neck.”

To which the male looked over from the plants and smiled innocently. A toothy thing that might have been a threat and a challenge. The smile, while seemingly implying a sarcastic innocents, also said that Muan would be more than happy to give Galt and up close example of just what had happened to Una.

“He’s not impersonating an immortal, he impersonated me!”

Mari choked on her tea. Rel accidentally got into the firewall, as his finger trailed over the touch screen of the control unit in his shock. And he had no idea how to back out of the firewall or how to get back in if he did ever get out. Damn it.

“Impersonated you?”

“Not to mention stole ace troops.”

“Stole troops?” Mari asked, “each of them has spoken to you personally and it wasn’t a ‘troop’ it was six guys. Six. Harmless. Spy slash assassin who wanted out of the business.”

“Spy slash assassin?” Rel muttered, “you’re going to be travelling around with Una in wooden trailers with spies slash assassins? While heavily pregnant? Hells. At all?”

“I would be perfectly safe.”

“Suppose so,” Rel mumbled, tapping out keys and finding, finally how to unlock a back door.

“Where. Is. He?”

“What are you going to do,” Rel asked, meeting Galt’s eyes for the first time. The man was huge. And a little scary, “arrest him?”

“Yes.”

“For what exactly?” Rel adjusted in his seat.

“Treason.”

“Against a nation that didn’t exist when he was born, let alone one that didn’t exist when he went to sleep.” Rel asked, “but. Isn’t the punishment for treason death still?”

“So?”

“How many times are you going to kill him. Once I would say, would be a punishment. Though he does find dying invigorating.”

“That’s getting his head chopped off, he finds getting his head chopped off invigorating. If you tried to shoot him full of holes,” Mari looked at Rel to explain, “it’s standard execution in the army, then you’d pretty much have to chop his head off first because he does have powers.”

“That’s true. Forgot about those,” Rel muttered, tapping out the command that sent a broadcasting change through all of the military’s nanobots, thusly giving them all a secondary command route and giving him the option to change them over to his at any moment. While keeping that pesky firewall.

“Where is he?”

“He.” Mari looked at Rel for help.

“He’s on a flight.” Rel said, smiling at Galt.

“A flight?”

“Yes. Was a bit worried about landing but apparently the rest is easy for him.”

“When will he be back?”

Veiling the truth with words was not Rel’s best subject. The young man blinked at Galt several times and then turned to Mari.

“Well. I don’t believe he did say when he was going to be back.”

“No, neither do I. But if he does, I’ll let you know.”

Galt’s bots were trying to convert Rel’s bots. Rel’s control center did a funny little be-boop as if confused and Rel very quickly rerouted the command so that Galt actually took over the bots of one of the extraction team.

Men all dressed in black with tiny little weapons. That Muan, for some damnable reason, was poking. Something the extraction team ignored completely. Luckily.

Wondering, Rel sent his nanobots to inspect the weapons and asked them to get him as much information about them as possible. Then he set the control unit on the table and gave Galt his full attention.

“Is there anything else, Councillor?” Rel asked. Galt opened his mouth to speak but Rel interrupted, “Good, then you can take your weapon toting friends there and leave before I have you charged with aggravated assault. It cannot be legal to burst into the home of an ambassador without a warrant and without due cause.”

“Una-”

“Is a member of a race that is completely unknown to us. He has come to me for the same help I give to the Sidhe and the Sidhe in turn have asked that I help him. So I do. If you dislike how I deal with him, you may speak to Talen. If Talen is accepting your calls.”
