Roy Foreman:
The fingers in my hair stop moving.
I open my eyes and feel the blood drain from my face. I sit up quickly, ignoring my aching head and the nausea in my stomach. I catch Jay before he can fall and lie him down slowly. He’s bleeding. How?
I look up and find my answer.
The Angel with the seven wings has his finger pointed this way. He lowers his hand back to his side and smiles a little too innocently at me.
I look back down at Jay.
A trail of blood slides down the side of his mouth. He smiles weakly up at me and whispers into my mind: I love you.
His mind goes blank.
His cardinal red eyes turn back to their normal green. The way they are outside of the barrier. They stare at me, unseeingly, even though he has his glasses.
Pain fills my chest and I have to look down to make sure I haven’t been hit. But this isn’t a physical pain. A scream builds up in my throat but I hold it back and change the pain of loss into pure rage. I clench my eyes tightly shut and focus on the minds of the surviving Angels.
They recognize my mind attaching to theirs.
I only manage to kill two before the rest disappear.
I lean over Jay’s body and press my head against his stomach. My head feels like it’s going to explode and I don’t care. The pain in my chest is worse. I can feel my mind turning in on itself. I hear voices and footsteps rushing towards us.
They offer me light.
What good is light, living, without him?
I prefer darkness.
I seek it out and drown in it.
Kitsune:
“Damnit! Inuki, fix Foreman!”
I kneel down beside Jay’s body and place my hands over his wound. I close my eyes and focus my aura on him. It takes me several minutes before I find his soul drifting off to it’s place in Heaven.
It’s a good thing I’m bringing him back. If he were in Heaven and those Angels found him…what a mess.
I grab hold of his soul and pull it back to his body. The second it’s there, I heal his wound. When I’m satisfied with what I’ve done, I glance up to see Inuki finishing off with Foreman.
He sits up and shakes his head a few times. Then he remembers Jay. Jay sits up as well. Foreman rushes over to him and hugs him tightly.
Inuki and I give them their space and watch as everyone stares at us unbelievingly. Well, bringing back someone to life isn’t exactly normal.
“And now we’re in a bigger mess.” Tsubasa glares at me but I ignore the look.
“Stupid Human. Never doubt an Animal’s Spirit’s powers.” At the snap of my fingers, Mydnite and Fyre collapse into a peaceful sleep.
Roy Foreman:
I slowly open my eyes and glare at the rising sun that’s trying to blind me. I turn on my side and greeted with the most beautiful sight ever.
Jay’s sleeping face.
How did we get into his room?
The phone beside me rings. I pick up.
“It’s six in the morning, this better be good?”
“It is.” Katsu’s voice. “Apparently, there were some rogue idiots from Kismet and Thanatos who wanted the top teams out of their way. They are taken care of already.” He hangs up.
A group of rouges? But I thought it was…
My mind hits a blank.
“Guess I need to take it easy for the next little while. After those idiots in the helicopter and the one underground, my mind can’t handle too much stress.”
“That’s not because of your Telepathy, it’s because you don’t think so when you do, your brain isn’t used to it.” Jay sits up and yawns.
I pull him to me and kiss the top of his head.
“Roy…”
“Yeah?”
“I love you.”
Whispered words in my head…Jay’s words…but this is the first time he’s said that to me…right?
I really do need a day to just sleep.
I hug him tighter. “Love you too, Jay. Especially your last name.”
He struggles in my arms and curses at me in his head. I laugh at his half-hearted attempts to get away.
Komurikku:
“The beginning of the End. I wonder what she meant by that.”
“Me too. My guess is that Adam is serious now. Perhaps he’s gotten closer to his goal in the past few years.” Kitsune sighs and closes his laptop. “I should contact the other Animal Spirits and tell them to be careful.”
I stand from my seat and walk behind him. I wrap my arms around his neck and nuzzle his cheek with mine.
“Later. It’s been a long day.” I tilt his head back and press my lips to his. “Reviving a dead person then altering the memories of so many people…need some relief?”
He smirks at me as I remove his glasses and set them down on top of the laptop.
“Is it really okay for them to just leave Kismet?”
“It is better this way. It’s the result I wanted for them. We just have to watch the rest of Fyre now.”
“Don’t forget the other teams employed under Kismet too.”
“Beginning of the End, really.”
THE END
