Voices, muffled voices, that’s was the first thing Clara became aware of. She could hear voices and other assortment of noises. Clara’s head was swimming in a sea of dizziness and her body was stiff and numb.
Clara’s first thought was, what happened to me?
For the time being the answer escaped her mudded head, instead she focused on opening her eyes. With some effort the Clara blinked open her eyes. Images were blurry and blobs moved in slow motion before her.
“Clara? Clara?” asked a muted voice. In front of Clara a blob moved into focus. Blinking a few more times, the image stated to clear and normal volume returned.
“Andrew?” whispered Clara, her mind still groggy but becoming more aware.
“Yes it’s me” there was worry hidden in his voice. “What happened?”
“Happened? There was….” Suddenly memories started flooding back in fast forward mode. “Assassin!” yelled Clara sitting up; her eyes wide, looking around at her surroundings. Clara was on a small white bed with dozens of other white bed lining the walls.
“You’re in the Infirmary, Clara” answered Andrew pushing her back down. “Don’t work yourself up, you were poisoned”
Clara remembered, her body had felt like it was on fire, while her limbs went numb. Wait? A thought occurred to Clara. I feel fine now, sore but fine. “So there was an antidote?” asked Clara relieved.
“Huh?” asked Andrew.
“An antidote for the poison” clarified Clara “You guys cured me”
“Clara, no one has treated you” replied Andrew wide eyed “You were just dumped on this bed and left. Everyone is focusing on the king”
“What?”
“How do you feel?!” asked Andrew moving closer to her.
Clara shrank back for the man before answering, “Fine, better than I was”
“But that is in impossible, Aiden…he’s….” muttered Andrew. An agonizing scream rocked the room, startling both Andrew and Clara.
A mass of activity was going on a few beds away. A group of people were gathered around a single beg where groans and screams were flooding the air.
“Is…is…that Aiden?” asked Clara.
“Yes, he in horrible shape, there is no antidote for the poison” whisper Andrew hollowly.
“But, I’m okay!” yelled Clara.
Andrew stared at her for a moment before bolting away towards the crowd. The soldier disappeared within the mass. Clara just sat there staring after Andrew, wondering what was going on.
Her thoughts were interrupted as a man exited the group and ran quickly over to Clara. The man looked to be middle-aged with crow’s feet around his brown eyes. His face looked rough with a five O’clock shadow and laugh lines. His dirty blond hair was ridiculously messy, pulled together in a raggedy pony tail. Clara’s appraisal of the man was cut short and his massive hands cupped her face.
“Flushed, but not feverous, eyes not glazed over. Skin color normal….” Without warning he ripped open Clara’s shirt and only bra, exposing her breasts. Clara yelped in response and attempted to cover herself. Both her hands were caught and held in her lap by one of the man’s hands. His other hand was laid upon Clara chest, and began to glow green.
“What the hell?” squeaked Clara scandalized.
“Breathing pattern, normal; heart beat, normal…” he looked into Clara’s eyes. “You’re completely over your symptoms, why?”
“Huh?”
“She’s human, healer” piped up Andrew.
The healer broke eye contact and started rambling to himself quietly. “GOT IT!” he suddenly burst, startling Clara.
“Everyone shut the fuck up a moment!” he shouted. This got the attention of the group hovering around Aiden. “This human is immune to the toxins” the healer stated dully before looking into space and going silent. Besides Aiden’s groans of pain, the room was silent.
“Healer!” someone shouted. The said man perked up, “Right then” clapping his hands together. “Someone get me a bottle, two pieces of tubing, and this human moved next to Aiden” announced the healer.
The room remained still “Chop chop people, time is kind of important right now” he replied listlessly.
The hell is wrong with this guy? He isn’t a doctor is he? No way! This can’t be happening, thought Clara.
Clara’s musings about the qualification of the healer was put on hold as people grabbed her, not to gently, and dragged her towards Aiden.
“Gentle please, humans bruise easily. We need her intact” remarked the healer.
Clara was placed on the bed next to Aiden. Closer the human could get a better look at the fallen Kakonia. He looked real bad. His skin was ghostly white and practically transparent with all his veins showing. Sweat was pouring off him in turrets with labored breathing.
“Oh God!” gasped Clara.
“Yes, isn’t pretty is it?” commented the healer, buzzing around Clara,
“What are you doing?” asked Clara, looking to the healer.
“Securing you, so you don’t move around so much or escape”
“The hell, your tying me to the bed?!” squawked Clara.
“Indeed, can’t have you moving during the procedure” smiled the healer finishing securing the red head.
“What are you going to do?” Clara was almost afraid to ask.
“I’m going to bleed him out and feed your blood into him” commented the doctor.
“That’s crazy!” This man is a quack.
“The physiology of us, Kakonia are different from humans, our bodies have accelerated healing and adaptation traits. When I bleed him out of most of his blood, his healing traits will kick in, pulling all available nutrients from the body and start reproducing the lost blood. When that occurs your blood will be pumped in, with the grace of Keeva, both yours and his blood with harmonize. His adaptation trait will absorb your blood palliates that carry the immunity to the toxins. If that happens, your immunity will be passed on to him; allowing Aiden to fight off the poison, thankfully his high immunity is staving off the toxins long enough for us to try this. If my predictions are right he’ll hopefully live and recover, and we all get laid”
“That is still crazy!” screamed Clara.
“Yup, and your chances of survival are slim. Sorry, his life takes priority over yours”
Clara’s eyes widened in horror; I don’t want to die for that bastard.
“If you live through this…” said the healer gently cupping Clara’s face, running a thump across her cheek, “I’d love to study you”
“You’re insane” squeaked out Clara terrified.
The healer smiled, “maybe, now let’s begin” The man moved towards Aiden’s side. “Aiden, Aiden come on I need you somewhat awake”
Aiden’s eyes remained tensely shut. “Aiden come on, wake up” provoked the healer again, tapping Aiden’s cheek. A few taps later, blood shot eyes opened.
“What’s happening?” rasped Aiden.
“You’re dying, your majesty” replied the healer in a chipper voice.
“That…that’s bad…isn’t it?” asked Aiden.
“Yup, but I might have a way to save you, and that’s a good thing”
“Yay…” replied Aiden struggling to keep awake.
“It’s going to hurt, but hey, if you feel pain your alive” remarked the doctor skimming his bare finger down Aiden’s side. The healer’s finger glowed green and in the wake of its movements the skin split open.
“Holy shit!” yelled Clara. Aiden barely flinched due to his body’s numbness. Blood began to pour from the wound.
Clara watched in revulsion, as more wounds were inflicted upon Aiden on different areas of his body. Blood was soaking the bed, turning the white linens red.
“This can’t be sanitary! You’re killing him!” screamed Clara, tears collecting in her eyes.
“Everything is fine” remarked the doctor, “Where are those things I requested?”
“Here healer, all ready to go”
“Excellent! Ready to go human?” asked the healer coming towards her”
“Hell no!” Clara’s words went unheeded as the crazy healer came at her with, what could only be described as, a crude I-V tube with a sinister needle.
“What…what are…you…doing?” rasped Aiden.
“Saving your life” remarked the healer. The restraints on Clara were tight enough to expose her veins in her arm. The red haired woman whimpered as the needle end on the tube was inserted into her arm; it hurt like a bitch.
“What…what you…doing to her?” asked Aiden.
“This human is immune to the toxin in your body; I’m going to transfer her blood to you in order for you to absorb her immunity”
It took a moment for the information to sink in, but the hitching of breath and dilatation of the eyes signaled Aiden understood.
“No! No!” screamed Aiden thrashing wildly “I…I will not have her weak blood in my veins!”
“Please calm yourself, your highness! Restrain him, quickly!”
Suddenly there were men holding Aiden down, even though poisoned and body practically numb, the silvered haired man had enough strength to struggle against five full grown Kakonia men.
‘What a fitting way to die, Aiden, in humiliation with a human being used to spare your pitiful life” whisper the voice in his head.
“NO! NO! NO!” Aiden screamed.
‘Let go Aiden. Don’t you want to see me?’ asked the dark male voice.
In Aiden’s swimming vision, he saw him. There, standing in the background, watching Aiden die as it was the most casual thing in the world.
“You’re not real! You’re dead! I made sure you were dead!” screamed Aiden.
“Please calm yourself, Aiden. There is no one there!”
“I killed you!” cried Aiden desperately. He wanted the vision to fade away. He didn’t want to see those oh so familiar blue eyes staring down at him.
‘Weak, Aiden. Soon you’ll be crying for your mother’ the phantom mocked.
Clara watched in amazement as the king, the ruthless, cruel Aiden was reduced to a writhing mass on fear; Driven to madness by something that no one could see. She would be lying if didn’t admit the scene was frightening. Never would Clara have guess that Aiden could be reduced to this.
Clara couldn’t help but question the situation, Is he have a hallucination? What is he so afraid of?
Another agonizing scream erupted from Aiden, as the man tried to crawl backwards, his eyes staring at nothing.
“Aiden! Aiden listen to me! He isn’t there, He’s not there!” cried the healer, taking Aiden’s head into his hands. “Focus on me Aiden, focus on me” urged the healer.
“…dead…” gasped Aiden
“Yes, he’s dead, not there. Now relax and let me save you” whispered the healer.
Aiden stopped thrashing, not that he was all the way calm, but due to all the blood he had lost.
“Shit, get me the tube!” screamed the healer. “Stay with me Aiden!”
The pleas fell on deaf ears, as the all the sounds turned to muffled noise. Aiden looked up at the ceiling with blank eyes, his breathing slowing down.
I don’t want to die, not like this, were his thoughts. With great effort, Aiden managed to turn his head to the side and gaze at the human. However, it wasn’t the human he saw, it was someone else.
Clara struggled to keep her eyes open. Her blood was flowing through the I-V with no hope of slowing down.
I don’t want to die, not like this, were her thoughts. She glazed at Aiden who was strangely looking back at her. As her vision blurred, she saw Aiden’s lips move but no sound came out.
What’s he saying? I...I can’t hear him…
Both patients fell into darkness.

There you have it. Yeah Aiden has some issues. Sorry if the blood transfusion seems a bit nutty, but Kakonia are wired different from humans and there adaption traits are far more advanced. Anywho, hit and review and thanks to everyone ^.^
