Chapter 10
Jared watched as the sun kissed the morning sky and her rays slid over Seana’s sleeping form. “So it ends” he murmured softly and rose out of bed. He quietly dressed, his eyes never leaving the woman sleeping in his bed. Seana stirred as Jared started to leave.
“Where are you going?” she asked sitting up.
“To charge up the machine so you may leave” he replied.
“So I wasn’t dreaming. I’m going home.” She said happily.
Jared nodded, “Yes,” and then he left.
Seana immediately hopped up and began sorting through her pill of dresses, ending up choosing the one she wore yesterday. After getting dressed Seana raced downstairs where Jared sat silently eating his breakfast with his even quieter knights. The tension, thick you could cut it with a knife, was breezily ignored as Seana floated up to the table with a bright smile and peck Jared’s cheek.
“Good morning all!” she chirped warmly as she took her normal seat beside Jared.
“Greeting Lady Sean-” one knight replied before receiving an icy glare from Jared. The knight gulped audibly.
Breakfast passed in silence only broken by the happy chatter of Seana in between bites of sweet sticky buns and sips of milk. Finally it became time for Seana to leave. Jared took her hand and led her to the library. He walked over to the farthest shelf and pulled out a single book. ‘My Life’s Blood’ by Alexander Jared. To say that Seana was stunned when she saw the book’s title and it caused the shelf to slid back and moved to the side revealing an empty chamber… empty except for one thing an almost exact replica of the dimensional piercer that brought Seana to Irden! And already a portal was opened.
“You best hurry, my father’s machine always had been quirky.” Jared told Seana.
She rushed inside and chanced a look back at Jared. His husky blue eyes surrounded by thick black lashes. His handsome features. The ice blond hair blowing in the breeze coming from punching through dimensions. She noticed he wore his black robe again, its length billowing out behind him. He seemed sad but happy, happy for her Seana realized. She opened her mouth to say goodbye but the vortex behind her suddenly expanded. First she was in Irden and then… home.
