By Emma

And we are back!!!! Hello everyone, It's Crystal and Emma here with the newest volume and chapter of ILBASMS!
^^ Sorry for the long wait, and hopefully the chapters will be going up faster from here on out.
Thank you to those who reviewed for Volume 1 (ShinyThings, kylee, Divanora, Midnightsscream, my_perversities)~
So, now that all the formalities are done, let's get on with the show!!

“Maika?” Reita said. Reita pressed the power button on the phone, cutting off his father’s lecture.

“Reita… or should I say Akizuki Rei-san?” Maika said.

Reita winced at the utter ice in Maika’s voice.

“I trusted you and I told you that I had problems with trusting people…and this is how…I can’t believe you,” Maika said glaring at Reita.

“Look…calm down and listen to me,” Reita said getting up from the couch. He inched toward Maika, but Maika backed away. Reita began to say something but at the sight of the tears sparkling in Maika’s eyes, the words got caught in his throat.

Maika angrily wiped the tear that had managed to escape. He stared at Reita, willing him to say something, but Reita remained silent.

“Say something!” Maika finally yelled destroying the guilt-ridden silence that had descended around them. Reita’s mouth moved silently, trying to figure out what the best thing to say was. With a final sigh, he looked down at the ground, unable to meet Maika’s eyes.

“I’m sorry…”

Maika shook his head. He wanted to hear that everything was a lie….that this was a joke that Reita was pulling. But the words he didn’t want to hear were the ones that came out of Reita’s mouth…

Maika took a deep breath.

“I hate you,” Maika said. Then he held his head up high and left the flat, all the while feeling his heart break into pieces.

As the door shut, Reita seemingly unfroze from his spot and made to follow, but stopped… He didn’t deserve someone like Maika. He knew that more than anyone else. He crumpled to the floor and tears began trailing their way down his face.

“I love you...” Reita wept to an empty apartment.

Back at the Takeshima Mansion…

Maika stormed in and marched straight into his mother’s sitting room. He saw his sister and father there too.

He stood there with his fists clenched and still trying to keep the tears down.

“Where were you last night?” Yumi asked in a stern voice.

“Cancel the marriage arrangement! There is no way in hell I’m getting married to that fake!” Maika said, his face reflecting his inner turmoil. Then he stormed right back out again without waiting for a response.

Yumi sat in confused silence. Maika had sounded adamant about this, more than normal.

‘Is this his first rebellion?’ Yumi thought worried.

Hiroaki motioned for Shuuchihara to follow Maika.

“Otou-san, don’t send Shuuchihara. I’ll go see what’s wrong with onii-chan. He’s more likely to talk to me,” Megumi said getting up and following her brother.

“What was that?” Hiroaki said to his wife after Megumi left the room.

“I don’t know. What do you think he meant by ‘that fake’? Did something happen with Rei-chan?” Yumi asked Shuuchihara.

“I’m not sure ma’am,” Shuuchihara replied. Yumi sighed. Hiroaki held his wife’s hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze.

“Well, you can ask Megumi later,” he said.

Maika’s room…

“I hate him!” Maika ranted. Megumi was sitting on her brother’s bed while watching her brother pacing around the room.

“Who?”

“That fake!”

“Who is that fake you’re talking about?”

“Reita!”

“Why do you say he’s a fake?”

“Why? Because his real name is Akizuki Rei…the girl that I’m supposed to marry this winter…and not only that…he knew who I was the whole time and he was just messing with me.”

“Oh dear…” Megumi murmured.

“Yeah… exactly!”

‘That idiot! I told him to be careful…what is going on?’ Megumi thought to herself
Maika saw her frowning face and it almost made him smile seeing Megumi so worried for him.

Maika sat on his bed next to his sister and sighed. Megumi put her arms around her brother and sighed along with him. Maika’s eyes began watering as he finally let the anger go and let the sadness underneath it seep through. He hastily wiped a tear that was falling so that Megumi wouldn’t see.

But Megumi did see…

“I’m sorry, onii-chan.”

“I should have known better. I shouldn’t have trusted him. He’s just like all the others. Get under my skin, gain my trust, take what they want, and then leave.”

“Wait… take what they want? You didn’t… did you? Did he take…?” Megumi asked wide-eyed. Maika looked at his sister, embarrassment bringing a blush to his face.

Megumi began laughing, but then stopped at the sad look on Maika’s face.

“But you’ve never gotten in that deep before… What made him different?” Megumi asked.

“I don’t know… it was a first for me too… I haven’t opened up to anyone since… him… and we both know how that turned out.”

“Yeah… that rat bastard.”

“Megumi!”

“What! You know it’s the truth.”

Maika sighed and flopped onto his back on his bed.

Megumi followed suit.

“So what are you going to do now, onii-chan?”

“I don’t know…” Maika said. Megumi hugged her brother as she felt tears wetting her head.

Two weeks later…

Maika sighed. He had finished his paperwork, he had taken care of all his late work, he had given presentations, and he had even been on a business trip.

But he still felt like shit...

Just then Megumi walked in.

“Megumi, I would appreciate if you knocked before you walked into my office.”

“Yeah right…since when have I ever done that!” Megumi said sitting on the corner of Maika’s desk.

“Exactly my point…I tell you this every time,” Maika said rolling his eyes.

“What are you up to today?”

Maika looked at the empty desk in front of him.

“I’m sure I have something to do.”

“Really? Because Otou-san said that you didn’t. In fact he says for the past two weeks you’ve been on time and even early on some projects.”

“As if you don’t know why…”

“Come on onii-chan…you have to get past this. You know that phrase, ‘There are other fish in the sea…’ You won’t get another rainbow fish sitting here depressed,” Megumi said dramatically. Maika couldn’t help but ,smile.

“I’m not really up for anything.”

Megumi stood straight and looked at her brother. Maika knew the look in her eyes. It was the same one that their mother got when she was about to order him around. And as always he would give in…

“Well we can’t sit here and mope because men are stupid. Well except you and possibly dad… come on! Let’s go shopping.”

A few hours later…

“Well… that was fun, wasn’t it?” Megumi said. The two had bags surrounding them. Most of them belonged to Megumi.

Maika sat next to her. Now not only was he depressed, he was also tired.

“Yeah… it was fun,” he said, half-heartedly.

Megumi sighed. She had wanted to take her brother’s mind off of things. Well since this plan hadn’t worked, she would try plan two which she had in the works.

Maika took Megumi’s sigh as sadness. He tried to smile at Megumi.

“I really did have fun,” he said.

“I know… Onii-chan, I’m going to go somewhere. Can you get home alright?”

Maika was confused at the abrupt change in topic, but he figured it was just Megumi being a girl.

“Of course. Don’t come home too late,” Maika said.

“Okay.”

Megumi got up and left. Before she could fully put her plan into motion however, she would need to gather her accomplices.
