Prologue
“Did you know, my dear, that roses were once the purest of whites?” the pale man in the shadows asked the young boy sitting in his lap.
“No. How did they get red?” the small boy asked.
“Blood,” the man stated simply.
“Whose blood are the roses taking?”
The older man just softly chuckled and rocked the young boy to sleep.
